"Demanes" does not mean Ghost, and out of all the words that actually translate to Ghost, Phasma is the one that sounds more fluid in the sentence. I'm not sure at all about latin grammar, just sound. xD

Ok, that fixed... The back of the cards. Will you make them all red? I would say make the back to be the same color as the Tonus. Just a suggestion though, if you make all red it's still cool.

And lastly, the 'T' before Pixelmage. (Also Capitalization if that's a thing to consider, though I notice that your card is not capitalized either, mentioning just in case it's an oversight.)

Sorry for being annoying.

H..... Don't do it..... Restrain yourself..... Oh, hell, sorry.

[needless pedantry] Phasmarum Observator. Or phasmae, depending on the number of ghosts. [/needless pedantry]

Anyway, can I have one of these? Knowledge, gold, West, Neptune, and God knows what phrase. Have to think on that.

:D Well, I'm assuming that would be the proper latin form, with the accurate grammar and all, right? Like I said, I never studied the stuff, so I was mostly just taking the word as it comes straight out of the dictionary.

Okay, it's been years since I've taken Latin but:

If memory serves, the genitive case is more possessive than a direct translation for "of," and I think the dative case would be more applicable here, which doesn't make a difference for the singular because it would still be phasmae, but in the plural it would be phasmis, not phasmarum.

However, as I said it's been years, and I've forgotten a lot about Latin grammar, so if somebody with more recent experience disagrees I will defer to their judgement.

So, taking that my key is "Ghost Observer", singular. The accurate form would be "Phasmae Observator"?

Well then, since all of you are such masters of the Latin language, here's the rest. Try to make better sense of them than I did.
  • Empty Promise
  • Sarcastic Mage
  • Unfocused Scholar
  • Destructive Blade
  • Mirrored Image
  • Burning Cowboy
  • Paranoid Duck
  • Passive Watcher
  • Appropriately Crazy
  • Sorcerer's Apprentice
  • Quiet Dabbler
  • Hourai Phoenix
Apparently, slightly less weird than most of you.

The last one's "adjective" is just the name of a legendary place. You don't need to translate "Hourai." In fact, "Phoenix" in Latin would still be "Phoenix," wouldn't it?

So basically, my title is too awesome to be translated. Or something.

No, I translated it partially. I suppose that works well.

I'll see if I can come up with reasonable translations for these. My memory isn't too great with this stuff, and most of these words are not ones that come up in standard Latin classes (for example, they didn't have cowboys in ancient Rome). Also my Latin dictionary is at my parents' house. But I'll give it a go, and maybe together with some of the other people who've studied Latin we can arrive at reasonable equivalences.

I got a dictionary for the cause. Some of these are gonna be tricky, though, like the cowboy. Though... as Mimsy said, Hourai Phoenix should be simple enough.

I think empty promise would be promissio vacua, as "promissio" seems to be a feminine noun.

(For those non-Latin-scholars reading this: Latin nouns all have an inherent gender, and adjectives have their endings adjusted to agree with the gender of the noun. I don't know who it is that chose this phrase for themselves, but if you are male, don't worry, the gender of the noun doesn't have any application outside of grammar.)

Magus acerbus seems fine to me.

For "unfocused," I'm thinking "undedicated" might be a reasonable synonym that actually has a Latin translation, which would be "indedicatus."

I'm pretty sure "destructive lamina" works for "destructive blade."

I think with "mirrored" we might want to go less with "mirror" as our root and go with the Latin for "reversed," which would give us something like "retroversa imago." I'm not sure about my translation of "reversed" though.

For cowboy, I'm thinking we can interpret it as "one who drives cows" which would give us something like "agentus bovinum" though I'm not totally confident in my turning the verb "ago" into a reasonable noun. I chose to interpret "burning" more as "flaming," and the whole phrase would then be something like "flammeus agentus bovinum."

"Duck" is "anas" but I don't know how to translate "paranoid."

And that's all I have time for right now.

Here's what I came up with. Listed "noun adjective", as in the beta profile cards.

  • Empty Promise - Promissum Inanis
  • Sarcastic Mage - Magus Acerbus
  • Unfocused Scholar - Scholaris Dubius
  • Destructive Blade - Lamina Exitialis
  • Mirrored Image - Imago Imitata
  • Burning Cowboy - Armentarius Ardens
  • Paranoid Duck - Anas Suspicax
  • Passive Watcher - Spectator Otiosus
  • Appropriately Crazy - Insanus Apte
  • Sorcerer's Apprentice - Discipulus Venefici
  • Hourai Phoenix - Phoenix Hourai
I'm pretty sure there's a better word than "otiosus" for "passive", but I can't find it.
Also, "insana" is another translation for "paranoid" that I found. :-P If you like that better and want another term for "Appropriately Crazy", "vesanus" is also a translation for "crazy".

Ignavus MIGHT be passive. Not at all sure. Discipulo venefici, I think. The rest seem excellent.

One day, I ought to get my own pactio card made. I mean, I already know what it consists of:

Name: Richard Healey
Cognomen: Coquendam venatus dominus
Number: XXXII
Tonus: Negrer et Lutenum
Astralitas: Luna
Virtus: Caritas
Directio: Occidens

Least, that's how I think I'd be rendered. I'm not the one actually making the card, after all.
