A long time ago in the center of the capital Rome, at the height of the Roman Empire's power, there lived a young boy. His name was Arcona Draconus. Arcona was a stout boy and a proud supporter of then emperor Aurelian during his famed reign. The boy lived among a normal family and was very respected, however he was the opposite of what people treated him as.
Arcona was a selfish ingrate who appreciated nothing and believed he could get whatever he wanted. He felt he could win over any girl with the amount of coin he possessed. He was the definition of a rich brat. One day, a beautiful girl with Flowing Blonde hair and Blood Red eyes came upon his area. She began to stay for awhile and Arcona was fascinated by her, and so was his ego.
Over 30 times over the course of two months he tried to get her,; to win her heart. All 30 times she rejected him and this drove him mad. He became obsessed over the girl, unable to believe that he had been rejected. One night, he saw the girl do something he thought unbelievable. She was drinking a young aristocrats blood, straight from his neck.
The concept of a "Vampire" hadn't been completely established at the time and so Arcona had no idea what to describe what he saw. Nevertheless, he was intrigued. He began to believe that the only reason she didn't accept him was because she was a different type of being. He did everything he could to become what she was. He looked up ritual after ritual until he came upon the one that finally described what he wanted.
He began the ritual, and a wave of torture and pain washed over him. Being completely unprepared for the event, he cried out to the Gods to help him but there was no response. He wretched in pain for the rest of the night before he finally woke up the next morning, becoming the creature he longed to be.
He regretted the decision more than anything else, he wanted to take it all back, no matter how beautiful the damsel was. In sheer irony, the girl suddenly disappeared, and never appeared there again. Now the entire endeavor became pointless.
He wandered the next four hundred years in shame. He could only stay immortal through drinking blood and if he stopped he would start aging like a human again. Even through his misery, the seduction of blood was too much for him to refuse, no matter how much he wanted to die. After 800 years had passed, Arcona moved to England where, lo and behold, the girl he met those hundreds of years ago appeared.
He came to her and even though he was suffering because of his decision, apologized to the girl for his behavior and told her of what he did and what he learned from the experience. The girl cried profusely, stating that she never wanted to be the cause of such suffering and that she was sorry for ever being there.
Eventually they became good friends and wandered all of England for at least 50 years until there friendship bloomed love. They fell in love while in London one time while visiting the nobles. There love was much deeper than any relationship at the time and it even spanned over 600 years. They became famous nobles and feared creatures. They were even given a nickname in France, the "Les amoureux de la mort" or, the Lovers of Death.
As they lived their happy eternity, they bought there own place in the Caribbean and lived the rest of there relationship there. That was the case until in 1680, she was captured by rogue natives and burned to death.
Arcona was distraught and depressed. He could not imagine a life without her and subsequently spent the next 100 years drinking in bars, depressed and drunk out of his mind. This was until America became a hot topic among Europeans. Feeling opportunity there, Arcona ventured there. He participated in the Revolutionary War, The War of 1812, the Mexican American War, The Civil War, The Spanish American War, World War I, and World War II. Realizing his name sounded odd by the turn of the 20th Century, he changed it to a more American name. The last name became an obvious one as well. He kept the "A" in his first name at least.
After WWII, Arcona lived a life in silence and solitude. It wasn't until the 2000's that he decided to give up his immortality and forsook drinking blood. His immortal 16 year old body suddenly began to age. He then got braces, this fixed his teeth and he could no longer elongate his fangs. He currently goes to school somewhere in the Southern states. He lives with a family who he has put under an enchantment so that they have implanted memories. Many friends were also under the spell, not wanting to be found out. He is a common flirt, but many days he looks out onto the horizon hoping that one day he would see that damsel with the blonde hair and red eyes walking down the street again.
I will not tell you whether this story is true or not. The point of this story is that sometimes the things we think that are unbelievable are true and that we shouldn't shy them away because we think they are considered fairy tales. Maybe this is true and maybe it isn't. What do you think? Do you believe the unbelievable?
I wrote this as a note on my Facebook today. What do you guys think?
