If It helps, I did and it can have multiple meanings. Like, brainwaves or something. So it's a good thing you asked because now we know which meaning is the relevant one....

Any ideas on how this IRDA.7z could be opened?

Another password to try would be Brent Harlowe's phone extension number from the letter-exchange-file: -0998

I second that. I'm going to pour over the other files in there and come up with as many suggestions as I can later tonight.

I tried the extension and a bunch of other passwords people on the chatroom were coming up, but we haven't made any progress yet, any ideas?
Why should we do the right thing?

it is labeled the IRDA.7zip and the IRDA refers to the InfraRed Data Association. So, my guess is that the password is related to that.

Well... I tried giving the names of the protocols that wikipedia lists as input, but those didn't budge. :P

More password ideas:
SPORTS
yankees
xiphias (I'm grasping at straws here)
sword
notpeacebutthesword
notpeacesword
gladium
walls
sky (these last two are taking the "look around you" literally)
map (in a similar vein, but with the "if you're lost" bit)

Actually, is there a Bible passage involving being lost? Something that might be connected to the Non Pacem Sed Gladium quote?

The Bible passage that most closely resembles the quote (which is Latin for "Not Peace but the Sword") is Matthew 10:34: "Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword."

Okay, earlier in Matthew 10 there's a mention of someone called Zebedee.

Could be relevant? Or just a coincidence.

Still, "zebedee" is worth trying.

Also in that chapter there's a mention of lost sheep. No idea if it's actually relevant but... try "sheep"?

Thanks Pixel. I don't know how many people are trying passwords, but since I can't, I appreciate you keeping us up to date on what you've tried.

I'm guessing it's not going to be something Biblical, because nothing else in that vein seems obvious and I don't think we'd have to dig through that source material to find the solution to this puzzle.

Try "goliath," maybe? Also possibly in all caps.

I tried goliath. Dunno if it works in combination with anything but it didn't work with Matthew, Michael, or any of the names in those documents.

Wait, in combination? Are you trying to log into the website? Because we figured that out.

Or is opening 7z files more complicated than I realized?

Maybe David and GOLIATH would work? :P

Sorry I am REALLY CONFUSED do we need two things in conjunction to open the 7z file or what? I thought it just needed a password.

Oh sorry, I accidentally suggested something for the website for when it asked for password and username XD

I meant a suggestion to open the 7z file, sorry (that means, take David and Goliath as two different suggestions :P).

Okay, so... Reiterating:

We have the login and password.

Login: brentharlowe
Password: orioles

Now, after you do that, there are 6 files in there. One is the cipher, that's decoded in the previous page.

After that there's a file named IRDA.7z

You double click it, and it asks for a password. Just one. No need for usernames or anything of the sort. This .7z file is where we're at right now.

I know that, it was just that I for some reason wrote a suggestion for an username and a password instead of just a password XD

Yep. It requires a password to actually access the content.

So, I just got an email from the Kickstarter. Apparently they've given the login information to all backers.

That's to log into the WEBSITE. Still no use in terms of opening that file.
