Virtual War Drome 2: City of the Dead

Once an amazing city now a place that is only inhabited by the dead or dying. That is right a zombie drome! Thousands of walkers shamble about the streets looking for their next meal, if done correctly you can make sure that it isn't you! Fight across the city using the undead as weapons, or perhaps breaking into a police station and using the weapons stored their instead. Run up skyscrapers to attack from above, or collapse buildings down on your enemies and make sure they won't get up again. It is up to you, but make sure you win, or else become another resident in the CITY OF THE DEAD!!!!

Update: Some of the zombies seem to retain an ounce of human intelligence, they have begun to use random weapons such as knives, pipes, and other melee type weapons.

Lost to a wrong click. I can't really retype it. As it won't be the same thing. So, summary of what it was:

Persona explanation, not necessary anymore as the fight is over.
I arrive at the city, blow up some zombies to make noise and head to the rooftops to wait for Jester to arrive.

Such tortured souls, I will help thee.

Helnekin had no mouth and so he talked telepathically, with this power he could feel the pain of the monsters before him. He pitied them above all else. A tear fell from his eye, a tear red as blood, he grabbed it and placed it on the face of a helpless zombie. The zombie suddenly twitched and a white orb flew out of him and into the sky, the body fell to the ground, motionless.

Suddenly, Helnekin felt a shook. His head burned with the pain and agony of many tortured souls crying for help.

What hast happened?! Why dost thou weep so?!

The souls responded a description of his adversary, a burning hatred lived within his heart at that moment. Helnekin flew towards the source of the commotion, to make the perpetrator pay.

[Pixelmage]

Pixel noticed movement and power approaching his position. About time! I was getting tired of wai... What the...? His adversary was flying dead straight towards his position. Humanoid in appearance, still too far to make out the details. Fuck, he can fly. He didn't have much time. He needed to seize the initiative now or he'd be at a severe disadvantage.

Another flick of his wrist, an extremely quick movement hurling three blasts of thunder towards his opponent. Accuracy would be an issue at that range, but it didn't matter, whether it hit or didn't, he wouldn't even stay to see. Quickly making the best use of his speed to dart inside the building once again. It's a risk fighting in close quarters with an unknown, but the other option would be worse. Especially considering the zombies outside, they'd be an incredible asset to his opponent who could stay out of their reach without problems. He paused for a second. Close quarters. No playing around.

Active Persona: Yoshitsune.

You will pay... You shalt pay!

Helnekin flew straight at his opponent with confidence. Eventually however, a stream of thunder bolts darted toward him. He was flying too fast to dodge them and all three struck him in the middle of his flight. He tumbled down to the ground and landed. In pain and agony he watched as the zombies crowded around him, hoping for a meal. Helnekin stood up and confronted them.

Do not lose thine dignity for mere days fill. Have mercy on me and God shall have mercy on thine souls.

The zombies stopped in their tracks and then moved on as if he wasn't there. Helnekin tried to fly up to the building, but his wing was gravely injured and he was immobile in that department. We walked inside the skyscraper, climbing up the stairs to meet his adversary.

One... Two... Three... Some noise in the background, his opponent must have landed. Engagement was inevitable and would happen soon. Four... Five... Nothing. Oh no, don't tell me he's not coming in from the roof. Pixel smashed the door open to a completely empty roof. Good grief, do something the way you're supposed to... But, if he landed on ground...

He ran to the edge of the roof, surely the zombies would swarm him. There was no such luck however, looking down at the dead-filled streets the zombies were behaving strangely. Sitting quietly as opposed to their usual aimless wanderings. What the hell is that guy?

Pixel sighed. He spent too much time on the roof, whoever was climbing up could set up a trap inside, it would be too risky to go in again... If his opponent took off once he reached the roof, it would be an issue. But for the moment he had to wait. He positioned himself in a straight line in front of the open door, ready to act as soon as his opponent appeared again. He'd need range for that, so once again he went still for a single second.

Active Persona: Ictinike.

Not a second early the shadows had moved, his adversary had arrived.

[TheJester]

I am Helnekin, Captain of the Cherubim Battalion and Advisor to the Angelic Court. You have committed the crime of murder and shalt now pay for thine sins. I doth not know how much of a bad position you hast put Thineself in. For the roof is your enemy above all else.

He stood in the middle of the roof, opposite his opponent. Then, with clarity and flamboyance, he spoke.

Go my friends, avenge your fallen comrades. Make the sinner pay for what he hast done upon you. Come... Come! COME!

Suddenly every zombie looked at the skyscraper and began running like wild monkeys. Some climbed the skyscraper walls, others ran inside and took the stairs, and some were legless and were crawling their way to the building.

You were much better off on the ground than thou thought. I may be almost immobile, but they are not.

[Pixelmage]

Helnekin. Angel. Great. Just great. Why don't I have a Darkness type on me when I need it, uh? Pixel sighed again, Angels were no strangers to him, but this was just wrong. I mean, an Angel commanding a zombie army? Come on, where's the logic in that? And the zombies were coming up fast.

He had two options, switch to Yoshitsune and dive into the Angel hoping for a fast kill. The zombies alone could be dealt with easily without the chance of the Angel intervening, but focusing on them with him there meant being open to a death blow. Second option would be push Ictinike's speed and jump to the building across the street. Meh, neither, where's the fun in that?

"Later Napkin." Pixel said with a grin as he phased through the floor, falling inside the building. The horde of zombies outside and across the building going for the stairs, he had an empty room for a few seconds. More than enough.

Active Persona: Lailah.

With the moment of stillness to focus on his powers, he chanted a single word, "Mabufu", and the world went cold. An radius as large as the building itself was coated in a cold luminescence which exploded in growing icicles. Impaling and freezing both inside and outside of the building. He couldn't hide a mischievous smile when the zombies running up on the front wall lost their footing on the frozen surface and started plummeting to the ground.

Note to self, don't do that again. Next time, take the safe path and run for dear life. Like I ever listen to my self, of course.

Helnekin had to think fast. He floated using this wings just as the ice traveled up the roof. The pain from using his wings was excruciating but he had to deal with it. After the ice collected, he landed softly on the ice, in more pain than he had ever felt before.

His zombie force was being relegated to nothing but that did not stop him.

I must find a way to subdue him.

Then it hit him...

Helnekin went up to the doorway and halfway down the stairs. He open his mouth and sang the Hymn of the Lamb of God. He did it for only 3 seconds and that was all he needed. The echo of the dilapidated building combined with the cold atmosphere amplified the song as if it had been sung for 7 seconds.

One can hope that he's dead, but I wouldn't expect such luck. He barely had time to gather his thoughts when a noise reached his ears. A wave of nausea took over him, what was that sound? It stooped as abruptly as it had started, but it felt like it lasted for an eternity. No idea what he just did, but whatever it was, it wasn't good.

Pixel had to move again, even if the zombies have been mostly neutralized, the Angel had to be fought as well. He noticed his own breath going faster than usual, the use of his abilities was starting to make him tired. He had to end this fast. The Angel was probably still in the roof, another spell might catch him, but firing blindly wasn't wise. And staying inside he would be trapped. Time to go for overkill. One deep breath.

Active Persona: Yoshitsune.

"Come out, come out. Wherever you are!" Pixel cried summoning his strength to punch upwards, breaking a hole to the roof. That was a wrong reference right? Oh well, who cares.

Helnekin fell down the flight of stairs as he grabbed hold of a window before fully plummeting. He then jumped through the window and out of the sky scraper. He slowly descended using his wings, sparingly so as to avoid further injury. He then landed on ground and recalled what little zombies were left back. He stood on the street and waited for his enemy to arrive.

[Pixelmage]

Landing back on the ice coated roof, Pixel saw that it was empty. Up there? Looking up immediately to prevent a surprise attack, he saw nothing. The Angel wasn't in the air. He began to run around the edges looking down at the street and saw Napkin there herding the surviving zombies into another strike force.

Well, if he's this determined to fight in the ground then all the better for me. Again, he had a number of options. Safe ones as well as dangerous. Well, let's go with suicidal to start, from there we move up to insane and then downright unimaginable.

The building was small for a skyscraper, but it was still a skyscraper. It would do for a good momentum. He jumped down, sliding on the sides of the building to land across the street from the Angel and his zombies.

"You want a ground fight? Throw the best you have." Pixel assumed a fighting stance and waited, focusing on his powers.

[TheJester]

Alright then Sinner. CLOCKWORK HEARTS!

Helnekin took the crystal from his head and sent it off somewhere, the crystal heart flew away as Helnekin looked at his opponent. His injuries didn't hurt anymore and he was completely mobile. Due to the fact that with the heart not attached, injuries could no longer hurt. If the heart was found and destroyed however, he was doomed.

Cloud Atlas...

A giant swarm of pure white fog flew out of his mouth. The fog was extremely thick, thick enough to hide his heart. He then positioned himself and his force in the dense fog and with eyes glimmering with fury said two simple words.

Get him.

Helnekin and the zombie force charged toward his adversary, ready to kill.

[Pixelmage]

The Angel removed something from his head and sent it off. Power Limiter? Before having the time to consider the development a white fog spread around them, making it harder to see, but the traces of ice magic allowed him to be untouched by it, a small radius around his body where the fog couldn't manifest.

The words of command resounded. The zombies advanced, of course. Whether the Angel did or not was unknown, as he would be too close to do anything about it when he stepped into vision range. Best choice, assume he's diving for you. Doing so, once the first zombie silhouettes became discernible approaching the small clear in the fog he cried out releasing Yoshitsune's power.

"Hassohappa" A katana manifested in his hands and with blinding fast slashes he cut through all shapes around him. Zombies screamed and fell, of that he was sure.

Helnekin looked down at the fog, he was floating above the fog in the sky.

He probably doesn't know I am up here. He thought to himself.

Gathering his energy, Helnekin released wave upon wave of massive fireballs at extreme speeds. Each with a circumference of 20 inches. He then dived towards his opponent, shooting fireballs as he did so.

[Pixelmage]

Movement stopped. Zombies were not enough, of course. But it was still tiring to keep fighting wave after wave of them. The fight wouldn't end no matter how many he killed. Heat and flashes of light from above. Fire. Only a warrior's sense granting that split second of awareness.

Next attack. Top down. Fire. Ictinike could laugh at it, of course, but using him in the center of the ice fog was suicide. The sheer pain from being engulfed in so much ice would render him immobile. He had no good options for that one.

"Unstoppable force, meet unmovable object!" The spheres of fire pierced the fog, sizzling and weakening both themselves and the fog spell. Heh, mix opposites and that's what you get. Still some hit him charring his clothes and burning his skin even through the Persona protection, the Angel himself diving for his head with a rain of fire all around himself. There was no room to dodge, but he had vision.

Pixel braced himself, gathering his resolve to withstand the dive, stepping back at the last instant to avoid a deathly claw swipe and threw an off hand punch at the Angel while he retreated, winded from the effort. But the fire and ice attack had been flawed. He now had a bigger radius of vision. Another such slip and the Angel might undo his own spell.

Realizing what his spells were doing to each other, Helnekin stopped. He got hit by a sucker punch and was blown backwards. He gathered his wits and backed within the crowd of zombies and among the fog. With that taken care of, Helnekin prepared to dart at his opponent with claws outstretched. Helnekin chose to fly in zig zag formation between the zombies to take his opponent by surprise.

Noticing a wavy movement pattern, as even more zombies marched toward him, Pixel crouched. Taking an instant of stillness to focus.

Active Persona: Ictinike.

He had time for one deep breath as the fog kept at bay by Yoshitsune's immunity flowed into the space to touch his body. The pain was excruciating and he nearly fell unconscious from the touch of the spell. You're being insane now. One last step to go. He jumped out, mustering all the speed and agility his Persona could gather, breaking out of the fog briefly.

"Now we mix thunder and ice. What about some overloading?" With a flick of his wrist he cried. "Elec Dance!"

Four blasts of thunder appeared in the fog initially, but once their power was actually released, the whole fog convulsed with energy. Overheating and deep frying all zombies inside. Pixel landed on a knee, panting while watching for the after effect to clear to be able to assess the extent of the destruction.

[OOC: Your heart was shrouded in the fog as well, so it got at least a jerk. Even if you can shrug off your body's damage with "does not feel pain"]

The heart!

Helnekin got hit with loads of thunder, an excruciating wave of pain hit him as his heart was struck during the battle. The pain seared through his body almost making him immobile but he got up and continued, albeit barely. He outstretched his claws and prepared for another wave. With only 50 zombies under his command he had them give one last charge while he went straight for the source of the thunder. He charged toward his opponent with breakneck speed in order to stop him from conjuring that very move again. With claws outstretched, he prepared to slice the meat.

These be all the zombies I possess, I shalt make them count.

[Pixelmage]

The Angel dived like a mad creature. Still more zombies following him. Pixel panted. I can't dodge that can I? Not willing to give up he pushed himself to the side, the Angel's claw slashing at his arm, leaving three shallow but bloody cuts in his flesh. He was slower than he should have been for that dive... And even more zombies were encircling him even now.

He recovered his balance and saw, surprised, as the Angel struggled to reorient himself towards him. Pixel laughed!

"That one was close!" He paused as he noticed the piece the Angel had thrown from his body laying at his feet.

Active Persona: Lailah.

"You see. I thought this thing." Picking up the small container. "Was a power limiter... But it's not right?" The zombies were about to reach him. The flowing blood from his arm's would started to glow and vanished. The wound still open, but his blood and pain being used to fuel his powers.

"Mabufu" The area around his body chilled, icicles growing from the ground impaling the zombies around him. "Didn't I tell you? Zombies are not enough. If you cut off your pain center, you just won't realize how badly damaged you really are! That makes you just like them." He threw the container to the Angel. "Here you go. Start feeling like you really should feel."

Still breathing heavily he prepared for one last surge of power. Good thing I'm bleeding, else I wouldn't have Angel flavored ice cream tonight.

Helnekin hit the ground, unable to feel pain but unable to move his legs. He looked at the sky and sighed.

It is over, God hast deemed thee worthy. Then I must fulfill my duties.

Helnekin's heart flew to him, he looked at the heart and then back at his opponent. And then to the piles of corpses.

Thank you my friends, you are redeemed in the eyes of Iahova.

Helnekin took the heart and smashed it on the ground as hard as he could. As the glass heart broke, Helnekin fell, motionless. A gas poured out of the heart and began to grow and flow across the entire city. The purple gas caused orbs to fall out of the zombies corpses and drew orbs from more alive zombies. The zombies that were still alive fell, and their absolved souls floated up to the sky, as if the stars had gathered to dance.

Suddenly a hole opened up in the bleeding red clouds and heaven showed itself among the field. An angel descended from heaven and landed upon the dead angel's body.

It was Norelei, one of the three soldiers of God and sister to Helnekin. She was regarded as the most beautiful in all the Holy kingdom. She grabbed her brothers body and pressed her head up against his.

Do not worry, we will take you home my brother.

Her sadness was obvious, it was then she darted a look at Helnekin's killer.

You have won this day warrior of the persona and God has deemed you worthy. Go about your life.

She carried Helnekin's body and floated to the heaven's, along with the orbs that began floating to their promised land. When all the orbs had reached the heaven's and Norelei came upon the kingdom, heaven closed it's pearly gates. The only thing left, was silence.

"Hey, look, there are a lot of dead people here. Actually, I think everyone here other than me is dead. Well, and that grasshopper over there, I guess; it doesn't look dead.

"Good thing all the dead people don't seem to be noticing me. Not sure why that always happens, but I think it's for the best in this case.

"I wonder what the deal is with that grasshopper, anyway."

The Duck considers tossing a frisbee at the grasshopper, but decides that that's a rude way to introduce himself to potential new friends. "I guess I'll just wait and see if he comes over to say hi."

[KagiyaLawCorp]

Fascinating, thought Chap. It seems that I am not alone in this struggle. He hopped over to the mysterious avian. "Pardon me," he asked, "but how are you not one of the undead? It seems as though their plague has spread from the most powerful human to even my entomical brethren. But where are my manners? I am Chap, the Fencing Grasshopper. Who are you?"

[Qara-Xuan Zenith]

"Hi, I'm a duck. My friends generally call me Duck. Nice to meet you, Chap. Sorry, I'd offer to shake hands with you, but, well..."

The Duck shrugs, and flaps his wings ineffectually at the grasshopper to demonstrate his inability to shake hands.

"As to why I'm not dead, haven't a clue. I'm not sure if they've noticed I'm here. I mean, the Angel of Ducks claims he keeps saving my life, but I'm not sure how far I can really believe him. It's probably just one of those things."

The Duck glances around, seeing that he and Chap seem to be in a quiet clearing, all the zombies giving them a wide berth. "Well, seeing as they're not trying to kill us, I could do with a bit of fun. Are you up for a game of frisbee?"
