Pixelmage wrote:Vic. Don't take me wrong, but I'll tell you exactly what you're doing wrong: You're trying to play The Binding of Isaac within the RP.
All of us take our characters and work around THIS setting. Backstory calls and all, but we don't bring the gameplay from our setting and force it into the RP scene... Well, Finch does, but he's seamless and self contained. What you're doing is changing the scenes to suit Isaac's playstyle instead of doing Isaac-like things in this scenario.
This last scene aganist the Dittos was a 1-on-1 straight fight. You spawned a whole dungeon and creeps to accomodate a Binding of Isaac scene. That's what is confusing and weird with your posts.
Also, in regards to the Items. You're trying too hard! Forget inventory management, if there a nice item for you to use just straight up use it. Even if you have everything at once, Isaac can't beat Marisa in sheer collateral damage. Make a nice narrative, forget this focus on mechanics, no one else is keeping tabs on this stuff.
Remember only that we're playing on a Honor System here. As long as you don't go lolImmune Sue you'll be just fine.

Pixelmage wrote:Actually, in case you didn't notice, Isaac is the third place in 1-on-1 fights. Ulrich is first, Krestal second, then Isaac.
Sure, for collateral damage we have Marisa, Sabrac and Alice.
You can't blow up a Castle, true, but going Speedster to dodge a blast then Brusier to hit a target harder and lastly into a Black Horned Winged Demon form to deal a killing blow and avoid falling to death in the crevices Marisa/Sabrac/Alice created IS awesome in it's own right.
Look at Kariese's posts for inspiration. She didn't blow up the moon and her scenes are all awesome.

Pixelmage wrote:Mimsy, you're doing GREAT. Honestly.
What you do is bring Marisa's backstory into the setting. You take the setting you're given and play along it.
What Vic did was change the setting to suit his backstory. For instance in the first scene: Vic's turn bodies appeared out of nowhere to hide Isaac inside when Xana didn't include any bodies in the GM description of the scene.
Keep the shout outs and the awesomeness coming!

Pixelmage wrote:Xana-GM:"You all wake up in a fetureless dark cave."
Vic:"I stay hidden among the bodies!"
Everyone else here in the discussion:"Wait what?! What bodies? There are no bodies!" > "Oh well, let's just roll with that."
I'm not archive binging to find the posts here in the discussion though...

And it used Lunatic-level spellcards of a God-type Final Boss character.
On another note, I freaking LOVE the image I used for Marisa's little "Out of the Inferno" moment.

AMimsyBorogove wrote:Er... That's sort of what it was, mostly, although it was a little more complex than that. That's really what TOUHOU is, mostly. XD
On ANOTHER another note, the entire battle - it's not just mid-battle - is basically one huge fireball shower, except for the part where the bird used Ten Evil Suns and when it had a beamstruggle vs. Definitely Not a Rho Aias shout out.

I was wondering what happened. I figured you had just changed plans. Oh well.

Pixelmage wrote:I didn't see whether you did anything or not, but you can GM-Interrupt to have Mewtwo summon Lugia once Zapdos falls.
