I just read your post.

I'm honestly scared.

I HAVE TO TEAM UP AND FIGHT TWO GOD BIRDS AND THEN FIGHT A MEWTWO AFTER I'VE FOUGHT A FAKE ME, A GAGGLE OF POKEMON AND AN ORDINARY BLACK MAGICIAN.

I'm going to need some help here.

Well, I've already planned it out for Marisa going solo, but let me tell you now that you aren't going to need to worry about one of the god birds, at least. =P

Vic. Don't take me wrong, but I'll tell you exactly what you're doing wrong: You're trying to play The Binding of Isaac within the RP.

All of us take our characters and work around THIS setting. Backstory calls and all, but we don't bring the gameplay from our setting and force it into the RP scene... Well, Finch does, but he's seamless and self contained. What you're doing is changing the scenes to suit Isaac's playstyle instead of doing Isaac-like things in this scenario.

This last scene aganist the Dittos was a 1-on-1 straight fight. You spawned a whole dungeon and creeps to accomodate a Binding of Isaac scene. That's what is confusing and weird with your posts.

Also, in regards to the Items. You're trying too hard! Forget inventory management, if there's a nice item for you to use just straight up use it. Even if you have everything at once, Isaac can't beat Marisa in sheer collateral damage. Make a nice narrative, forget this focus on mechanics, no one else is keeping tabs on this stuff.

Remember only that we're playing on a Honor System here. As long as you don't go lolImmune Sue you'll be just fine.

Ok then. I think I'm just trying too hard. I chose Isaac for the RP because I wasn't expecting you to get characters so strong. So I'm trying to make Isaac the strongest I can. I ended up incorporating tBoI without wanting to. I'll take care for not doing that. It's hard to make my narrative sound good when your teammates can blow up a side of the planet without even trying.

Actually, in case you didn't notice, Isaac is the third place in 1-on-1 fights. Ulrich is first, Krestal second, then Isaac.
Sure, for collateral damage we have Marisa, Sabrac and Alice.

You can't blow up a Castle, true, but going Speedster to dodge a blast then Brusier to hit a target harder and lastly into a Black Horned Winged Demon form to deal a killing blow and avoid falling to death in the crevices Marisa/Sabrac/Alice created IS awesome in it's own right.

Look at Kariese's posts for inspiration. She didn't blow up the moon and her scenes are all awesome. ;)

I can get all the inspiration in the world, but my brain goes away every time I need him. EVERY TIME. Be it a RPG or not.

...

:?

I hope I'm not forcing Touhou too much in my posts. I mean, every battle I've been in thus far has usually just been a massive reference to one aspect of Touhou or another. For the Knights it was fighting game references, then PC-98 curbstomping for the Pokemon in the quarry, then PC era dogfighting and references to Alice Margatroid for the necromancer duel, then an all-out spellcard battle which quickly escalated in a massive DBZ reference for the Ditto fight, and this next battle I'm still writing includes gems such as the fire bird ripping off Utsuho Reiuji spellcards thanks to Mewtwo's memory powers. Plus I've worked the graze point system into my posts as a combat mechanic, and have thus far used only attacks/attack patterns used in Touhou games...

On another note, expect another fairly long post for this one, people. It won't be as ridiculous as the Marisa v. Marisa fight, but it'll still be pretty sizable.

Mimsy, you're doing GREAT. Honestly.

What you do is bring Marisa's backstory into the setting. You take the setting you're given and play along it.
What Vic did was change the setting to suit his backstory. For instance in the first scene: Vic's turn bodies appeared out of nowhere to hide Isaac inside when Xana didn't include any bodies in the GM description of the scene.

Keep the shout outs and the awesomeness coming!

Xana-GM:"You all wake up in a fetureless dark cave."

Vic:"I stay hidden among the bodies!"

Everyone else here in the discussion:"Wait what?! What bodies? There are no bodies!" > "Oh well, let's just roll with that."

I'm not archive binging to find the posts here in the discussion though...

Holeee that fight was awesome. ^^ And damn, the thing took a Laevanteinn to the face in didn't even flinch! I have a newfound respect for the Pokebeasts now. :gurt:

Now, to plan on how to take Articuno out.

Oh, and note to everyone: THERE'S A HUGE FIREBALL SHOWER MID FIGHT!
I am sorry for the spoiler, but it affects the battlefield so If you skip reading Mimsy's post on grounds of it being too big, make sure you recognize that event because it is that big.

The rest of the fight can be handwaved as being high up in the sky, but there's no way to ignore the Firefall.

Not to mention it ATE a Master Spark, then ate a heavily overhauled Deep Ecological Bomb + Event Horizon combo. OM NOM NOM NOM.

And it used Lunatic-level spellcards of a God-type Final Boss character.

On another note, I freaking LOVE the image I used for Marisa's little "Out of the Inferno" moment.

Excellent job completely annihilating Moltres. that was Moltres right? I read your post but my brain just interpreted it as lasers, a shower of fireballs and lots of explosions. In conclusion good job

Er... That's sort of what it was, mostly, although it was a little more complex than that. That's really what TOUHOU is, mostly. XD

On ANOTHER another note, the entire battle - it's not just mid-battle - is basically one huge fireball shower, except for the part where the bird used Ten Evil Suns and when it had a beamstruggle vs. Definitely Not a Rho Aias shout out.

I didn't see whether you did anything or not, but you can GM-Interrupt to have Mewtwo summon Lugia once Zapdos falls.
