What RP's should be left open?

Postby Lordxana0 on Fri Oct 25, 2013 12:49 am

So most of the RP's on the site other then FC are pretty much dead in the water for months at a time. I am wondering which ones you guys feel should be continued and which ones you feel should be dropped. You shouldn't feel bad for saying that you think an RP should be closed, because it lets the GM know that maybe it is time to put it out to pasture, and while that sucks it is better then looking at an open RP that never updates.

I'll be honest: Personally, my schedule is all the busyness ever for a long time, and then suddenly like a week in the middle of nowhere when I have plenty of time free. Based on that, I'd say it would be a shame to close any of the RPs just because there haven't been posts in forever-- come mid-December, I, for example, will be bored and able to write; less so before then.

...But that's just me. To my mind, the only real reason to close an RP would be if nobody's posting not due to lack of time but because they're all stymied about what their characters should do next, or if a GM feels overwhelmed/ washed out and unable to do the story justice.
Lead by example. Get lost in a swamp.

Hmmm, it appears my clone has relayed my thoughts on the matter perfectly. :D

On that note, I'm probably going to make a post on Chain Wars just to write more with Lawrence eventually. With the rest, GLD is difficult to write for simply due to the style I chose for myself, but that doesn't mean it is fun as hell to write. The problem is simply that I need a lot of uninterrupted time to think things through sentence by sentence and get the best way to make my point down on paper, and I haven't exactly been getting that lately. I've got another post for RoH written already, but it concludes my quest and puts me out of the way of all interaction for a short time, meaning that if no one else posts I can't do much of anything at all. Still, I'm planning on posting it shortly should there be no other posts in that time. Similar things for all the other RPs. I already made two as of right now completely ignored posts in SS, so I'm waiting for SOMEONE to respond to things I said before I go make another one, I'm waiting for Shane to answer Agora's question in Ship because it would be weird to walk out in the middle of that conversation, since 66 fashions himself as an observer and though he has timehaxx, I am unfortunately lacking, so I can't include the response in the post that way, and I've been talking a lot as Silas already, and I'm waiting for other people to say something. If no one does, I'll just keep going on in a ridiculous manner as I have been til now. As for HAX, that's my project for this weekend while I'm here at home on break, so that should be on the way shortly.

*shrugs* I can't move in RoH or Godsfall. For SoS, unless you want to hear more nautical blabber, I'll refrain from posting until Kavid actually has something of worth to say.

I'm curious to hear the players' views on Irun. Like Xana, I'm willing to close shop.
If you can make it better, don't make it sentient.

Disregarding the lack of time in general, which I can address later...

For Irun and Rise, my major issue is that the only thing I could possibly do would be wander off.

In Irun, I figure that in-character introductions for the sake of in-character introductions would be very much cut-and-dry to be worth posting. Or just far too purple and not fitting for Michael. Personally, I would just trade notes on what he should have gotten to know in that time while they waited for the announcement and then get kicking heads. Literally. But I'm also unwilling to just shove that and force everyone else to follow.

For Rise, I'm pretty sure all of the city tasks have already been completed, no? I know Rissien hasn't done anything but he's a knight errant and could just chilling on a tree or something. And if there's no goal, Pixel has difficulty writing. :( If there's a fight or an otherwise reachable goal, I can try to get something written.

In the Ship I'm just a guest NPC writer. @_@ No input from me here.

As for time... I'm dealing with a bunch of RL problems.Too much detail to share here, I'm afraid. I can still write, but not as much or as well as I'd like to otherwise... You all probably have noticed how Qara and Eli have handled most of FC for a while. Kudos to both of you, you're awesome. That's Pixel just trying to keep up and stuff.

I think that, while a lot of RP's aren't moving, I still want to write for them.

For ROH, I can't really move around much, Qara and I completed our "quest", and that's the end of it. There's nothing in ROH to do until the quests themselves have wrapped up, which we now know aren't happening because of unavoidable RL issues.

Irun, Chain can't really do much more than she already has, other than standing and walking away. I could write that, if Agora is okay with that, and we don't have a repeat of the last time he tried to GM his RP.

LoD is pretty much dead, which I find sad. I really like Jamie as a character. He's fun to write. But that RP hasn't moved in months now, and if Xana decided to close it, I'd have to deal.

I believe I can post in Godsfall, so if no one minds, I'll get started on that this afternoon. I can also post in 1st RP, which I'll work on in my spare time. I'll bother Jack about Ship, and work on that too.

tl;dr
We have a lot of potential, but little actually happening. If anything, GM's can close the RP's temporarily, or at their discretion. In the end, we're players, not the creators.

I still need to finish Mokou's arc in RoH. Just to clarify that not everybody's done with the city quest things, as Pixel assumed.

As Mimsy said, a lot of people are still going on RoH related quests. I still have one more post to make before mine is done, and end needs to post in his and agora's section.

Furthermore, Pix, the last thing I did in SoS was talk to your character, so I'm still waiting around for responses on that count.

I've come up with a plan for Life and Death, so that will be going up soon, and Mimsy and I are going to be working on as many posts as we can today, starting the moment I post this.
