The world as people know it is a lie, a perfect lie upheld by forces beyond their control. Creatures known as Abstractions walk among them, creatures who want nothing more then to open a doorway between this world and their own, leading an invasion of monsters beyond a persons darkest nightmare to rule our world. Abstractions can look just like a normal person, act just like a normal person, blend in perfectly with society without ever being looked at twice. They can be your next door neighbor or a member of the U.N.

Only one group in the world can keep reign on the monsters that seek to bring ruin to this planet, Mosaic. This group brings together those with abilities brought on by contact with the rifts between this world and the realm code named 'Mad World'. They are the only ones able to hunt down Abstractions, and with their abilities they are the only ones who have the power to bring down the monsters without a full military deployment.

Welcome to A World of Madness, another Lordxana RP idea. In this game five players will use unique abilities and their wits to battle an invading race of monsters before they can open a doorway to their home world and destroy reality as we know it. Players will start out as new recruits to Mosaic, being sent on various missions and fighting a variety of evil creatures.

Name: Anna R. Weston
Age: 22
Appearance: Slender and slightly fragile-looking, with yellow hair that she usually keeps tucked back in a braid or a bun. She keeps herself fastidiously neat, though more out of habit than from any love of order.
Backstory: Anna grew up in a standard middle-class home with rather conservative parents who went from thinking she was a slightly eccentric child to considering her downright odd, though in company they always said she had "woman's intuition" whenever she mentioned something that she shouldn't have known. She moved out as soon as she could, living with a friend of hers who her parents assumed she was sleeping with. Her friend, Sam, had known about her abilities for a few years, since the two of them had taken three classes together and she had been showing off. Even though he insisted that she didn't need to, she started holding down three jobs to help both pay for food and take a few classes at the community college. She still lives with him, even though she's old enough to rent her own place.
Personality: Anna is slightly manic, especially when it comes to finding things out about people. When she finds a job she likes, she throws herself into it, though not quite enough that she forgets to sleep or eat. She does tend to neglect friendships, though she will at times show a sudden affection for people as though she knows she's been treating them poorly and wants to make it up to them.
Power: Anna has what she alternately calls Intuition and Perception. In short, she can know things about people that they haven't mentioned. Sometimes they're as mundane as their favorite color or what they had for dinner last night, but she did once announce in the middle of a dinner party that someone was having an affair, not realizing until just after she said it that perhaps it should have been kept quiet. Lately, she's been realizing that some people may not be entirely human, which both scares and intrigues her.

Character Sheet

Name: Verdio Aesiflay

Age: 26

Appearance: Taller than average but not quite enough to be considered big, Verdio has short black hair and decently muscular arms. His eyes are dark green and a similarly shaded tattoo of vines adorn the right side of his face. On occasion, you may see faint hints of something just under his skin.

Backstory: The story was that his sister had died in a car crash. Verdio knew better. As soon as the first vines crawled out from his skin and burrowed back in, thick sinews adorned with biting bristles, Verdio began his own Thorn Struggle. Vowing to succeed where his sister had failed, he began distancing himself from his peers in an effort to hide the seemingly random protrusions of vegetable matter, and it didn't take long before he alienated himself from many people. Mosaic contacted him one day, explaining the provenance of his 'power' and recruiting him into its fold. Now surrounded by similarly different people, he felt more at ease and Verdio began socialising once more.

Personality: Not quite stoic, yet not very talkative, Verdio's trying to regain his social skills. He's automatically protective of anyone that reminds him of his sister, ie, any female, but often just smiles awkwardly in response to any provocation or compliment.

Power: Thorn Struggle. Vines covered in thorns sprout from his body at erratic intervals to burrow into other parts, and while the wounds seal up after the vines retract, the process still causes him a great deal of pain. He has discovered that the vines always sprout when he is in danger, particularly at impact points. For example, when about to be struck by a knife, the vines will grow out and cover the point at which the knife is about to strike, essentially protecting him from most physical damage. Using this offensively, when he punches or kicks, the vines cover his limb and add extra wounding power to his blows. At times, the vines act to cushion his sockets inside his flesh, allowing him feats of contortion at the expense of immense agony.
