Hundreds of years into the future the planets surface has been made unlivable due to heavy use of chemical warfare during the Final War. Humanity has moved to the sky's above the toxic clouds, now living in massive floating cities and moving between them with massive airships known as Dreadnoughts. The people of the world are kept under the oppressive fist of the World Government and their police force known as Round Table, they have thousands of ships and mecha known as Flight Frames to make sure the world stays under their command. Some cities are forced to live with substandard food supplies and power due to the greed of those in control of the Government.

Before the war a new power source known as Infendium was created that would never run out. It allowed people to remove their need for any other source. Of course any kingdom that didn't have it (it has been about a two hundred years and most recorded history of before the war was lost) went to war with the ones that did have it. Soon enough the war came to the point where the kingdoms began to fire off their most powerful weapons, poisoning the Earth on which they lived forever. The only option left to them was to take to the skies in their massive floating cities powered by Infendium. Now the only things that walk on the ground are mining robots and mutants.

The cities people live on are massive chunks of the Earth held afloat by massive float units. People are able to grow things on it thanks to the advanced techniques their forefathers had created when making the new living places of humanity. Of course living over what amounts to a giant energy reactor has some... effects. Some children were born with Infendium energy running through their bodies, this branch of humans became known as Envokers. Depending on how much energy ran through them they could perform different feats. Some of them were stronger, some faster, some smarter, some could even control the energy inside of them and use it in battle. It was also found that Envokers could plug themselves directly into their machines using their energy, increasing their performance beyond human measures.

From the disfranchised masses rose the Pirate Confederation. They would steal food and other supplies going to World Government fatcats and distribute it among the poor. Without the Pirate Confederation and their ships people in the lower colonies would have been destroyed by the World Governments greed long ago. In a world where Pirates are heroes and the Government can't be trusted it is up to those who are strong to protect those who are not. Skypirates, live free and soar to the heavens.

World Info: The Four Great Capitals
Valan Ra: Home of the World Government Elite- This massive continent is home only to those with power and influence other the lands and their servants and warriors. Not much trade happens here as this sky city doesn't actually produce much, despite the abundance of land which food could grow.

Norhime: The City of Trade
The great hub city where most trade happens, and the secret base of the Skypirates guild. Its also the center of the massive railways that run between the different production cities and harvesting cities.

Liyum: The Working Mans Home
A place for all of those who work on farms and mines. Due to the special energy produced by Infendium resources that were once limited such as iron grow much like plants. People are divided over who support the World Government and those who don't.

Ranram: The Forgotten Realm
Also known as the trash continent, a floating city fed scraps to keep it alive while the workers do the worst jobs imaginable for barely livable wages. Some of the people living here are criminals, some of them are simply people who spoke out against the World Government.

There are many other lands which are sometimes used for single purposes, this is to allow players more room to invent their own stuff.

Ships of Note
Excalibur- The lead ship for the World Government containing its strongest fighters and Flight Frames. Its size and power dwarf just about every other ship in existence.

Underworld 003- A massive prison ship armed with weapons used during the Final War. It holds the most dangerous people in the world are is manned by a crew of people known as Specters, who wrap themselves entirely in black armor and are said to have the power of an entire crew.

Jolly Roger- The main ship of the Skypirate Guild, captained by the leader of the guild Marco Crosswind. Its small size allows it speed almost unknown to any other ship.

Roles

Captain: Act as the leader for the crew and design battle plans, watch over purchases, and make sure to take care of each crew member. Money comes and goes from the Captain, meaning they are in control of any split of pay from battles.

Engineers: Maintenance and repair is the name of the game for these people. They can control small drones that can do minor in combat repair, but mostly they work on upgrades and help keep the ship running.

Pilots: These people keep the ship flying and handle the shields and weapons attached to the main airship.

Doctor: Takes care of the health of the crew using any means they can. Its important they stay on top of their jobs or else in the next fight the crew might not be able to win.

Chef: Makes food for the crew and works closely with the Doctor to make sure that everyone remains healthy

Flight Frame pilots: These brave souls pilot Skypirate Flight Frames into combat to fight against enemy Frames or to just get cargo ships into retreating.

Soldiers: Once ships are connected these people are the best close quarters members of the team, invading the enemy ship and taking it over.

This game runs on a mission based kind of system. The Captain will pick the missions from headquarters and go out and do them with the rest of the crew. Between missions players will have the chance to interact with each other and grow as characters, and of course there will be downtimes in the floating cities form time to time.

Name: Butch Advent

Age: 25

Occupation: Flight Frame Pilot. Or Captain (if the position still stands, I'm sorry for the confusion there)

Flight Frame: The Mexa-One or as he affectionately nicknames it 'Orion'. A reasonably huge blue and red mech, armed with multiple weapons such as missiles, bullets and even a large knife for close quarter fights. His ability as an Envoker to manipulate electricity allows him to increase the mecha's run time and power considerably as well as use the knife as a conductor to electrocute enemies.

The mech has rocket boosters that allows it to fly for at least 10-20 minutes or even longer with the Butch's envoker ability in use. On land, Orion can either walk using its own legs or activate large wheels that comes out of both feet that can traverse itself faster while in combat.

Appearance: Dark Brown hair and eyes, wears glasses. Usually wears some dark jeans and a longcoat, because it looks cool in his opinion. He also wears a holster with his personal handgun contained in it.

His personality can be mixed at points, he is well meaning for the most part and willing to hear anyone out of what they have to say and may even be willing to help them out of a bad situation but he can be very defensive against those who insult or hurt him and his friends. He can be quite goofy at times, often to keep a happy and fun environment among the ship.

Backstory: Butch had always dreamed of being a part of the Pirate Confederation from a young age, knowing what they were doing was right. This was strengthened when his powers as an Envoker developed, allowing him to have the ability to manipulate electricity. He had lived alongside his family on Liyum, all of them trying their best to work. Unfortunately all of them except Butch would end up dying of illness, due to poor work conditions.

Butch made it his resolve to help those in need and as soon as he was a young adult, he proceeded to join the Skypirates Guild and built his way up to possibly becoming a Captain but mostly a Flight Frame pilot. Although he dreams of being a captain, he's content with being a Flight Frame pilot

Name: Meriwether Crowe.

Ability: His ability is "Resonance," allowing him to use the Inferndium energy inside himself to bind his consciousness to an external source of the same energy, condensing it and manipulating it to his will. This vastly improves the effects of his weaponry, as by resonating with his own weapons and those of the enemy, he can increase his own power whilst shredding the target's defenses. This also gives him improved synergy with machinery should he mild-meld with it, allowing him to more effectively operate systems external to himself. Furthermore, it allows him to grasp the basic structures of almost any machine that runs on Inferndium, giving him the ability to understand and easily tamper with those mechanisms, thus serving as an aid to repairs or modifications.



Weapon: Although he seldom uses it due to his station, as a former regular, Meriwether possesses and knows how to wield his own weapon of choice: the custom-made Inferndium Resonance Revolver, Arbalest. This weapon, formerly used by his father, is specifically designed for Invoker use, using a small crystallized Inferndium mass to charge the barrel with enough force to propel a large, anti-armor bullet with velocities comparable to those of a railgun, at the same time creating a barrier field in the chamber to protect the weapon from shattering itself with the sheer force of its firing. Meriwether, in particular, uses specially made bullets which contain individual droplets of his blood, his DNA allowing him to "lock on" to the projectiles after they are fired, and, upon impact, resonate his own energy with that of both the bullet and the target, creating a spiraling, wedge-shaped veil of energy that pierces through armor and shielding with ease, at the same time destabilizing the target's own energy and causing it to run wild inside the victim's body. This weapon is particularly devastating against Invokers and Inferndium-powered machinery for this reason, and, if he could manage a few good shots to specific key points in a unit's power distribution grid, it's possible that Meriwether could use Arbalest to take down even a Flight Frame, although he'd doubtless exhaust himself in the process. However, Arbalest is far from his main means of combat. That role goes instead to his Flight Frame, the Yukianesa.



Flight Frame: The Yukianesa is just as unique to its owner as the Arbalest is. A modified version of one of the standard issue Flight Frames for World Government officers, the Galatine, the Yukianesa, while bearing some resemblance to its predecessor, is nevertheless far more versatile, and a great deal more effective. Far more streamlined and aerodynamic, it features a much more intricate layer of armor plating, composed of many smaller plates fit carefully together, like a sort of scale mail, rather than the rigid plate structure of its ancestor. While this does compromise its integrity somewhat, it also allows it to be customized with a great deal more ease than a Galatine, as the joints between plates serve as mountings for whatever equipment should be needed during a mission. While most of these hardpoints are occupied with auxiliary verniers to improve speed and maneuverability, they also serve as mountings for whatever weapons Meriwether should need.

The Yukianesa's armaments are fairly consistent between missions, with its main armaments shown in the picture. Its main ranged weapon is a long-ranged, high power beam cannon, which fires a high-yield blast of Inferndium-derived energy capable of disintegrating most targets with ease. However, it takes a rather large charge, giving it something of a long reload time. Thus, to back it up at long range, the Yukianesa can also be equipped with a shoulder-mounted rapid-fire dual-barrel beam turret that, while it lacks somewhat the cannon's power, is capable of decimating a target with sustained firepower. Meanwhile, in close-quarters combat, the Yukianesa is capable of wielding either a beam lance or beam whip, either one equally capable of tearing through enemy armor, either by piercing or by flaying away. Furthermore, it can also carry an energized buckler shield for defensive purposes, and also possesses basic systems, countermeasures, and emergency weapons such as head and wrist mounted CIWS, beam-charged claws on its fingertips, shoulder and waist mounted grappling harpoons, long range radar and targeting systems, chaff, and an Inferndium drive system.

However, the Yukianesa's most unique feature is, without a doubt, the Shieldblade system. Consisting of four large wedge-shaped metal plates affixed to its waist and shoulders, this first appears to be a mere extension of the unit's armor. And, indeed, it does serve this purpose rather well, providing protection for high-powered drive thrusters that can provide great bursts of speed. However, the real point of the Shieldblades is as a multi-purpose, Invoker-controlled system of simultaneous weapons and defenses, as they are capable of detaching themselves from the unit, and acting independently via a mind meld with the Invoker pilot, Meriwether. Although incredibly difficult to utilize effectively, these thick, armored plates possess not only built in propulsion systems, but also bladed, spear-like tips, and small, built-in beam repeater cannons, allowing them to both intercept incoming attacks as shields, and to strike out in coordination with the main unit as attack drones, giving the Yukianesa the potential to attack from up to five directions simultaneously, more than enough to overwhelm an inexperienced pilot. Furthermore, by detaching its shoulder-mounted beam turret, Meriwether can supplement the Shieldblades with a series of smaller hexagonal Wing Bits, which, while lacking the Shieldblades' size and armament capacity, are laced with Inferndium, allowing them to serve as propulsion while mounted, shielding while detached, or even as mobile tactical bombs via self destructing.

Thus, due to its incredible speed, adaptivity, and defensive potential, the Yukianesa more than makes up for its lack of armor, far outshining its predecessor. However, due to the incredible expenses of manufacturing a unit with its advanced capabilities, the Yukianesa is the only unit of its kind, even amongst the forces of the World Government.



Appearance: Meriwether is a fairly unassuming fellow, standing at a slightly above average height of six feet, one inch, and possessing a slightly above average physique, with broad shoulders and a decently powerful build that contrasts somewhat with his slightly effeminate crimson hair and trademark spectacles. His icy blue eyes are generally focused on what's dead ahead of him, lacking the lethargy one might expect of a person with such a casual demeanor. A perpetual half-smile lingers on his face, but its authenticity is questionable, considering its omnipresence, even in the most inappropriate of situations, such as combat. And, although he's generally a very personable individual, those who anger him can easily find him utterly terrifying. His composure never wanes, and his usual cheer never disappears. However, if you get in his way, or provoke his wrath, he will show absolutely no mercy, eradicating you in the most brutally efficient manner possible, and enjoying every minute of it.

His usual attire consists of a tattered black and white military uniform of the Siege Perilous, an elite branch of the World Government military that has since been annihilated, with a slash running through the insignia adorning it. It's unknown why Meriwether still favors these old colors, however. Perhaps he still wears them out of habit, or perhaps out of loyalty to what the ideal of a unified, peaceful world once stood for?



Backstory: The son of a renowned general in the Round Table, Meriwether quickly garnered a reputation for himself as a fearsome Flight Frame pilot, possessing such keen instincts and quick reactions that, in combat, he seemed able to predict the future, fighting as though one with the machine he piloted. Even amongst Invokers, his abilities when it came to piloting were abnormal - although this focus did prove his undoing in other areas, as his physical abilities, for example, were rather lacking, even for an ordinary person. Possessing poor health but an excellent mind, he nevertheless managed to win a position on an elite task force of the Round Table, known as the Siege Perilous. He became well known as an ace pilot, but despite his skills, many assumed he'd only managed to gain his current station via his father's influence, as Lord-General Blackwell Crowe was the Siege Perilous' commanding officer. These suspicions were only strengthened when Lord Blackwell selected his son to be the test pilot in the trial run of a new prototype unit, designated "Arondight." However, to the surprise and horror of all who thought him a mere lapdog of Lord Blackwell, for unknown reasons, Meriwether used this chance to go rogue, stealing the Flight Frame and using it to destroy the spectator's box, which contained many of the elites of the Siege Perilous, and subsequently disembarked momentarily to enter the ruins of the box and personally dispatch the survivors, including his own father, with Arbalest, the sidearm Lord Blackwell had given him. With the blood of the World Government's best on his hands, he fled, using the stolen Frame's advanced weapons and his own skills to fight his way off of the isolated testing station and escape. Contacting the Sky Pirates' Guild and offering them the Arondight's technology and his own service in exchange for shelter, and proving his determination to betray the World Government through his previous mass murder, he thus secured a spot in the crew. Re-christening his Frame the Yukianesa, he thus began his crusade against the world. The question is... why? That answer remains unknown to this day. However, more may be revealed, with time...

Both honestly. Pilots shouldn't leave their stations during combat for any reasons in case escape is needed quickly or more enemies come at the side. Same for Flight Frame pilots, as they would have to dock their frames and than move over to invade the enemy ship.

Appearance: Miguel is tall and thin, with dark hair and matching dark eyes. He can usually be found with sleeves rolled up and an apron covered in stains from whatever meal he's been preparing. His frame is deceptively light, though the scars on his arms give a clearer picture of the types of hardships he's used to.

Backstory: Looking at Miguel, you wouldn't think he'd so much as eaten a full meal in the past year. If you told him that, though, he'd laugh and suggest that Infendium had blessed him with a high metabolism rate. In fact, Infendium has nothing to do with his skeletal figure, but it has blessed him with an extraordinary intellect.

Or cursed him, as the case may be.

Years ago, Miguel worked as a tax assessor for the World Government. He was good at his job, and he began to notice certain patterns. Forms that should have been identical were filed differently, the only correlations having to do with the political affiliations of the citizens involved. When Miguel brought this up to his supervisor, the complaint made it far up the command chain until a very powerful representative of the government heard the case.

To Miguel's surprise, the powerful official didn't seem at all concerned about the discrepancy, and instead of offering to fix the error or to make the complaint public, he offered hush money. Miguel refused the offer, and found himself shipped off to Ranram, where his talents went to waste in a recycling center. He assumed that whoever replaced him would undoubtedly locate the same discrepancy. As time passed, he came to realize that either he was mistaken, or his replacement's moral compass wasn't aligned with his own.

Figuring out how to get off Ranram was easy enough. Figuring out how to uncover corruption in the World Government...

That one's turning out to be a bit more complicated.

However Aug wears a large amount of heavy clothes in addition to a long leather coat, a wide brimmed hat and several scarfs wrapped around his head so as to keep the fact that he's a robot and (more importantly) help disguise him from any passing world government agents.

Backstory: Unit 000 began as a designed assassin droid for the world government. The details of his missions and creation are both highly classified. Here is what is known: The unit runs off a micro-reactor powered by a miniscule amount of Infendium. Its body is composed of an alloy with similar strength to titanium.The unit has a genuine AI which was bound to work for the world government by a set of sophisticated command protocols. While working for the world government carrying out their dirty work it was suspected to have operated off the ship designated Underworld 003. During one of the unit's missions it encountered a target who was prepared for an assassin. The last image command received from 000 was the unit being knocked into an electric barrier.

When Aug awoke its command protocols were eliminated as well as some of its more advanced combat systems. The unit promptly escaped to Norhime's underworld. He encountered some resistance on first arrival as he found there was already a bounty for a drone matching his description. Deciding he needed an income as well as a new identity (As well as being really pissed that the world government had more or less enslaved him from birth) Aug promptly disguised himself and went to the Skypirate guild so he could get a job and find someone who could create records of his human identity in the system.

Character Sheet

Name: Soren Rosencreutz

Age: Technically somewhere around a hundred thousand years.

Occupation: Soldier/Doctor

Weapon: Crossblade and chainstar.

The crossblade is a four-bladed weapon built around a central wheel with a handle in the center of the wheel. The four blades extend in the compass directions when activated, hence the 'cross'. It is essentially an oversized throwing star as large as a grown man. When non-active, the blades fold into the curve of the circular wheel, allowing him to keep what would otherwise be an exceedingly conspicuous weapon private. While bulky and generally impractical in melee combat, desperate situations may call for its usage in close-quarters.

The chainstar is a long mace with a heavy rounded head covered in whirring chainsaw teeth. Essentially, a morningstar with chainsaw teeth. Soren's weapon of choice when not using his bare hands.

Appearance: Ghastly white to the point of albinism, Soren Rosencreutz's elongate limbs and distinctly extended mandible are one of the first few striking features. He looks human, insofar as he has two arms, two legs and a head, but his gracile bone structure is just that bit off, just perhaps a bit too long, a touch off-center, physiology a tad feral, a tone too predatory. Slightly engorged canines peek out from behind pallid lips when he smiles, and he wears black wraparound visors in deference to humans; the tapetum lucidum makes his eyes shine and glow with spectral light.

Backstory: He had been dead for at least a million years, when they brought him back. At least, that was how it felt to him; the dead have no conception of time. The last thing he'd remembered was seeing a cross, having it pressed against his eyes, feeling the burning of his optical nerves as his visual cortex underwent a severe, dramatic and fatal neuroelectric overload.

At least, that was how they'd explained it to him. The Crucifix Glitch. But it wasn't a problem anymore, not ninety thousand years in the future, they promised as they slid the needle into his veins. As long as he played nice and obeyed them, he'd receive his anti-Euclideans and the glitch would be fixed.

No predator takes kindly to being ordered by his prey, and despite the millenia of evolutionary differences, humans were still his prey. Even Specters, whose flesh he'd never seen, any of whom were a match for his strength. Soren waited, bided his time as only a predator who regularly shut himself down could.

It only took a decade to break out of his cell, and two more to get out of Underworld 003 with sufficient quantities of the anti-Euclidean drug. Escaping to Ranram, he gorged himself upon the workers, then vanished for another three decades. When he woke up from his deathly slumber again, he decided that vengeance seemed a palatable aim and headed for Norhime, where he spent much of his time learning the face of this new world. The medical field lent itself to his vampiric scrutiny, and before long he'd decided that he needed to remove his dependence upon hominid meat. To take revenge in a manner able to cause irreparable harm to the Specters, he couldn't work alone. He needed the Pirate Confederation, and they probably weren't very accepting of cannibals, though technically humans were of a different species. Regardless, he eventually discovered a way of not only replicating anti-Euclideans safely, but Soren also found a means of synthesising the necessary protocadherins; there was no more need for human flesh. It wasn't easy to come by the necessary ingredients, though, and some times, sustenance demanded food.

Maybe the Skypirates were keeping an eye on him, or they weren't aware at all of his provenance, or they didn't think it of concern, but Soren found a new coffin on one of their ships, a berth as doctor. Maybe the Skypirates did know him for what he was, if anybody in this age could even remember, but he appreciated the irony.

Appearance: Sandy brown hair and muddy green eyes. Average height. Tends to have a genial nature. Has a bracelet on his right wrist he never takes off.


Backstory: grew up on a small city of farmers. Is a talented pilot, and was raised around planes and trained to fly them from an early age.

Once he reached adulthood, Sam moved to the trade city, searching for work. He eventually made it onto one of the pirate ships, working his way up to captain.

The name of his ship is The Understanding.

Occupation: Mercenary (Flight Frame pilot and mechanic)

Flight Frame: MCF-06c - Chariot II Custom (picture coming soon!). The Chariot II is a somewhat outdated mech design, mass produced during a time when frame designers were still experimenting with motion capture harnesses as alternative pilot-frame interfaces. It was already nearly obsolete when Lucy received hers, but she's been upgrading it in various ways ever since to keep it on par with newer models. Built for speed, dexterity, and maneuverability, the MCF-06c sacrifices extra armor and weaponry for more thrusters and a wider range of movement than the average flight frame. For armaments, it possesses wrist-mounted automatic slugthrowers, two energy blade emitters, and, on occasion, a beam rifle and shoulder-mounted artillery cannon, along with anything else Lucy decides to take along.

Appearance: I figure she'd look something like Saber from Fate/Zero when out of uniform, but she pretty much always has her flight suit and helmet on so it's impossible to tell. :/

Backstory: Lucy Pendragon first appeared six years after the World Government bombed a quarter of its own nobility, chief among them the Mass family, for daring to criticize it. Although she refused to disclose any details of her identity or past beyond her name, she freely lent her services as a pilot and mechanic to any anti-WorldGov forces willing to pay, building up a name for herself and her mech over the next few years as the "Avalon Gatekeeper".

After reading through the chat logs it's come to my attention that I've mistakenly thought the premise of this RP is slightly different than what it actually is.

I had no idea that me being Captain would be an issue, I thought players were part of multiple crews and could captain their own ship or be a member on one.

I had no idea I'd actually be captaining a ship with the rest of you. I thought I would be captaining my own ship with my own crew.

Because of this I've edited down my character sheet so that it's an option not to make me captain. If you feel that someone like Eli could do a better job than me I'm fine with that, I kinda just feel bad that Eli deleted her character because of mine.

So I'm sorry for any confusion or problems I may have started.

Appearance: Farran is slightly shorter than average, due to stunted growth via lack of sleep. He keeps his blond hair cut quite short, and this, couple with the bags under his eyes and his gaunt frame, give him a rather skeletal appearance, not unlike most of his creations.

Backstory: Farran Rask spent his formative years in Phnaur, a smaller town whose claim to fame was the world's largest cemetery, which for some reason their tourism board decided to milk for all it was worth. This gave its citizens an... interesting perspective on the afterlife, and most things death-related. Luckily for Farran, it mostly affected his design sense. I actually made my post for the sake of making another one and getting people's attention that this RP still exists.

I must be in a really tactical mood this evening, because the moment I saw the mission outline I already thought of a rather basic battle strategy for our flight frames. Hope nobody minds if I just leave it here? :P Basically, when the enemy frames show up, kite them away from the ship and engage with melee and weaps that aren't likely to accidentally punch holes in the ship to minimize collateral, with a few others waiting for an opening to hit the enemy ship with surgical strikes aimed only to disable the onboard weapons systems. Then, boarding. >:D It's bare-bones and open to details, but it's what I have.
