I'm thinking that for balancing purposes, it could be good to do something like what Vic suggested. i.e. each spirit (minus Alice, since reality warping is pretty broken) has a mental and a physical effect. For instance, the Hatter could retain a few weaker items from his hammerspace hat and store them, perhaps impossibly, on his person for a certain amount of time outside his transfer state, and he can be illogical. The Rabbit has good memory, and can move quickly, with the drawbacks each one has. (Perfect memory can be traumatizing, and any attempt to move beyond the capabilities of his enhanced body will probably cripple him) The White Knight has his body strength, but the White Knight in the story was also rather crazy prepared, so you could do something with that. (He prepared his horse for SHARKS.)
I suppose though that if you want things to stay this way, I'll just settle for the memory, since it fits better, and use Awesomeness By Analysis. It's your call. Let me know, then I will write a bio.
Normal people are the easiest to manipulate. Too smart and they have an annoying tendency to catch wind of your plans, too dumb and, in the words of a certain pirate, "You can never tell when they are about to do something incredibly...stupid."
