Ummm.... about my Rewards from the last quest (Coat of Many Maladies)> I talked to Eli_Gone_Crazy about it and we agreed on a pair of powers. Bloodrush(Huge, but very short speed buff with long cooldown), And Marked For Death (A single Enemy takes much increased damage from Kyras, but he himself receives more damage from other opponents). If you could update them QUaran, that would be great, talk to Eli if you have any questions.

Hey guys.

If you plan on having a major plot development happen in a quest, can you let me know? Thanks.

I have a suggestion.

If other people (most importantly, the GMs) disagree with me on this, that's fine and I'll say no more about it. But I think that maybe this idea would make things go a little more smoothly for FC.

Lately there've been some new forum members who joined with the specific purpose of playing FC. That's all well and good and within the realm of what is allowable according to forum rules. However, it seems that some of these people wind up joining FC without a clear understanding of the rules of the forum and/or the rules of FC. It also seems that there's been trouble communicating with these new members via forum PMs because if they've only posted an FC character sheet and nothing else, then they haven't made enough forum posts to be allowed to send PMs.

So I think it's time to make some additions to the rules for joining FC.

Basically, according to the new rules, someone who joins FC will have made enough posts by the time they start playing that they will be able to communicate to them via PMs and thus easily resolve any issues that might show up. We need to figure out exactly how many forum posts it takes to be allowed to send PMs. That's easily enough determined by one or two people experimenting with one or two sockpuppet accounts.

I'd suggest that, to join FC, a new forum member must:

1. Make a character sheet (the one thing that is already required)
2. Make a post in the Introduction thread in Off-Topic
3. Make a post in this thread, saying something about why they want to join FC or something (there's potential for overlap between what they'd want to say in this post and in their Introduction post, but I also think there's potential for distinction)

If the number of forum posts required to send PMs turns out to be 4 or more, we can add more to this. We could, for instance, create an "I have read and agree to the rules of this Forum" and/or an "I have read and agreed to the rules of FC thread."

So, yeah, those are my thoughts. Feel free to totally disregard them, or implement my suggestions, or an altered version of them, or shout them down, or totally ignore them or whatever. I just wanted to get the idea out there.

I see nothing blatantly wrong with your suggestion, though it raises some very interesting problems.

Rather than encouraging people to join the community, I think that adding such a restriction will only act as a deterrent. I understand the need to communicate, and that is why we have the chatroom and other areas. I don't feel comfortable requiring people to post in x amount of threads as a sort of unintentional hazing.

As for forum rules? That is honestly a responsibility shared by the moderators, Qara Xuan, and myself. All players and members are encouraged to know of and remember the rules, but they in themselves are simple, and based around common sense. It is unecessary for us to do more than we already are, and it is the risk and consequence that results from allowing new members.

The links to the rules and requirements of the game are not hidden, and any member is able to locate them. The majority of new members are considered adults, and so far, most of them have shown me any reason to treat them otherwise. Unless there is an issue, and so far those have been minor, I don't see the need to babysit new people.

I understand caring for and cultivating a strong playerbase, and that will happen. But, just like it took us months to acclimate and bond, it will take time for us to learn to chill with all the cool new people.

I will, however, speak with the moderators and qara, to see their thoughts on this. Thanks for the suggestions. :)

After looking at Scarab Clause's picture, I realized that Fern is even cuter than I thought. Also, I've found myself imagining an AU where Likovya really is a princess, and Fern is the court scribe. Given the way I saw him at first (looking at her with speechless awe), I even started shipping Princess Likovya and Fern the scribe.

And then Julius and Anji just made my heart ache, and Tamar running from the ducks was just too cute. Too cute, I say!

Total coincidence here, they just happened to be on the same page but... yeeeah I'm gonna start shipping them now, too XD Well done, me.

I did the Anji and Julius goodbye pic and the immediately had to draw the ducks, because SAD

I am glad everyone likes them :) Have a happy Christmas, FCers!

And I can blame Scarab for this instance of apparent Fern-cuteness! Also, Princess!Likovya is cute, and you used that dress Elsa wears in the beginning of the "Let It Go" song as a reference, didn't you Scarab?

I did indeed use that dress. I still haven't actually seen that movie, but gosh be darned if I don't empathise with Elsa a lot already, for obvious reasons. Ice Mage. ;)

Tohr and I have agreed that if Likovya gets powers, they will be over ice. So far the only idea I have is that she can't control them, but naturally in an amusing way... patches of ice popping up when she sneezes or gets angry, but not in a way that they'd actually harm anyone. Curtiss will just need to watch his step or flail about comically.

Also, I just want to say that I'm kinda wierdly flattered by this sentiment? I sorta just made Fern kinda a generic, simple character that I could expand on and give wrinkles to without worrying much about having difficulty staying in character. Throw on an easy to integrate quirk or two, and there you go. To have someone get this....fan-ish? Excited over? Interested in? I don't know the wording precisely, but for someone to get quite as [WORDING] over my character as you kinda seem to is...nice? Flattering? Kinda weirdly awkward? I never quite expected that Fern would get attention - it was always sorta the assumption that he'd be sort-of a sticking to the background character, never really getting much attention. And that it didn't go like that is kinda a pleasant, if unnerving, thing to have happen. Still, thanks for the interest, I guess? It's nice to have.

Well, someone has to be the standout background character, and Fern's just too awkward to not be cute. If only there were some bubblewrap level where we can stick him so he doesn't somehow end up dying...

If it's possible, could I get volunteers to help make sure the trope pages for this thing are reasonably up to date? It's bugging me that it's not updated that much, and I really don't have anywhere near as much of a grasp on what's going on, and how to properly trope things to do it alone (I am good enough at the whole page-working thing, not so much at working out which tropes to use, that properly describe people/events, etc).

Just asking.

If you need to separate him from the group, just have him get into an argument with someone. He seems to be good at that. :)

Seriously (or seriously-ish), though, I'm up for plotty things. Not because I have more free time than I expected. No, that's not it at all...
