...yes. :P

Seriously, though, there was a bunch of stuff I wanted to put in that I didn't have time for. Like, at the end, I was gonna reveal that unlike Giselle, Curtiss got an eyeful of the failed summoning and was suffering from a bit of trauma afterwards, and also that he'd nicked an orange crystal and a red crystal and would end up giving one of the three to Giselle after advising her to check if it's not dangerous or anything. Sort of a bond of friendship sort of thing or something, I dunno. (Which reminds me, at least one of the two probably would have picked up some armor/gargoyle fragments along the way, too...)

So, since my underground quest was the first, and the boss battle happens right after, these next quests should all be chronologically AFTER we get to the next floor, especially since Adell, who is one of the first round people for the boss battle, had one. Right?

I'm sorry we didn't have time for all the cool stuff you wanted to do.

But I'm glad we finished it in time. I really didn't want to find out what Eli and Pixel would do to us if we missed the deadline...

Hey, same here. Plus, I copied everything to a word document, so if I ever get some spare time, I'll see if I can do the edits and additions I originally intended. So I guess it works out, then? :)

Presumably they could be simultaneous? If the place is big enough that you wouldn't have run into each other...
Just like, as far as I can tell, all the Floor 1 quests might as well be simultaneous, all things considered.

Ohkay, let me explain this better. Sicon you were actually warped to the beginning of your battle scene. Adell's post is actually AFTER the battle. That said, there is now a spoiler about Hector surviving his boss battle. (gasp) As for quest timings, honestly the majority of floor 1 was simultaneous. This was also because floor 1 was a tutorial level, to help introduce the concept. In future mission, if you want to lampshade other missions that are occurring around you, feel free to do so. Personally, I'm encouraging it.

Another thing to note, just because you move to the next floor doesn't mean that you suddenly are trapped in a witch's lair, or have an army of zombie pigmen to deal with. The quest-worthy events will be announced, and then you can adapt from there.

Nope. Can't happen. See, my mission described me stumbling on the first door. The set up for the other two involves people already knowing about the doors, especially Adell's quest. Furthermore, Endless and Naradilly WERE in the same general area that I was in, and the GM notes actually took my actions into effect. Therefore, it cannot be simultaneous.

Uh, about that warping.... could we get that changed so that I just walk out on my own and make it back? Otherwise, something in the future is going to be very complicated.

It happened offscreen, so it's kind of a moot point. For all we know, you were warped out. You didn't write it, and you were very wounded. If I had to have you walking all the way out you'd die of blood loss before you get out and bandaged. And I don't see how it can create problems. It's just a lampshade because you had to ask for a quest that took place just before your boss fight. Sorry if it breaks some insane multi-quest plan, but that's just a device to keep Kurt on. Otherwise he'd die, or spend his "boss fight energy" to get out and have nothing to use on the boss quest. Or being extremely optimistic, get to the city after the party is over. Again, because you requested the quest to be right before the boss in the timeline and walking out wasn't a part of your story.

Besides, everyone was warped in once the Castle started running, so these warps are already established to be possible.

Have you ever wanted to cut loose and do whatever it takes to save the world without those pesky "rules" that other guilds make you follow? Then join Heroes Unlimited, where the only rule is destroy evil and protect the innocent

Dilly and Endless, :D great post!

I think I'd like an underground mission (not today, but soon), would anyone like to go with me?

Actually, based on the ideas I have for our part of the boss battle, I think a mission with both of us makes sense. And if it would be based on Endless and Narra's mission, well

Just throwing this out here. Once the bossfight ends, I HEREBY VOLUNTEER SEIRE TO VENTURE INTO THE UNDERGROUND AND HUNT DOWN THE RAMPAGING SUMMON. POSSIBLY USING SCISSORS.

Actually, Seire and Kurt are going down there for that, if eli will give us the mission.

Well, I shouldn't have been to shy to ask for it.

I can use my idea another time, though.

I imagine that the failed summon's already dead, actually. If the vampire mages didn't manage to put it down, the fact remains that the ritual was incomplete, and thus the creature in the bubble entered a process of dying a horrible and graphic death from the moment it was released. It probably would've chased Curtiss for a short while before collapsing mid-run and crumbling to ash while flailing wildly.

Granted, the post didn't include that bit, so the only thing the above explanation has going for it is the fact that one of the authors mentioned it in his notes...

I think at this point the state of the summoned creature is whatever the GMs/future quest takers decide it is.

Well, really, it depends on what the summon was. Since the ritual was interrupted, it WOULD have lost the foothold it had in the world, but if it was something really powerful like, for example, a demon, it might, say, absorb all of the vampires who didn't rush out of the chamber to try to catch the intruders, using their bodies as fuel for its own existence, or something.

Did you read my mind? That bit about vampire absorption was what I had in mind.

Interestingly, it was what I came up with on my own as well.

I imagined it was just stabbing or dissolving or incinerating whatever it could reach. Absorbing doesn't seem to quite fit the scenario to me.

Ok... So we have an issue. The boss fight is taking way too long and people are getting idle, so the logical idea is to go play underground rather than not play at all, and we didn't assign more underground quests... And then there were tons of complaints about a lot of things. You lack information, so I'll just info dump.
Eli here: I had been trying to tell you this in main chat but..... :| didn't work out so well.

Now, the main goal of the RP: Your choices have consequences. You are world building, you are guiding your characters where you want them to be. That's why the Underground isn't a pocket dimension, that's why we're trying to keep a timeline. Eli and I are aware of that so that you don't need to worry! You say you want to go underground, we'll try to make it fit the best way we can!

The limits, and reasons and all that? We already keep track of it, how many completed quests, which pairings, which rewards from which quest. What would happen, if you spammed underground quests for the loot? The time won't stop, if you waste your in-game time power leveling, you'll miss out on normal castle quests. While everyone is on the 40th Floor, you're alone in the B15. Sure, you might be stronger than all others put together, but your choice put you away from them. True that you might argue that this is something we shouldn't leave unsaid, I apologize for that oversight. But that's why we're doing it like this: You can choose to play how you want, if it can fit within the format, we'll make it happen.

We're having trouble assigning underground quests now because of the delay in the normal floors, we already wrote 2 quests that take place after the boss fight. And if we are to cut it off from the normal flow of things, we might as well not have it.

If it is a Pocket Dimension / Alien Time there's absolutely no downsides to power leveling and spamming quests: You can do them between heartbeats!

If we cut the rewards for the underground questing, then what's the point? Surely it can make some good plot development, but there's no game element in it. You can work the back story nods into the normal floors and not need a single underground one.

Defining a limit of underground quests you can ask for is also against immersion, sure, it keeps the power levels in check, but suppose you're on a holiday, could do some writing and is not on a normal quest... But you already used your limit. No dice, there's a number now, if we allow it (and we would) the number might as well not be there.

And as long as the underground works on the same time as the normal floors, we simply won't have all that many quests to write, and what your character accomplish there will impact him for the future.

The problem with the timeline won't happen once this boss fight is over. And there's one rule we can define fairly well: You can't go underground if you're playing on a normal quest that turn. Adell's takes place after the boss fight, Sicon's was more of a test run and initial creation of the floor than anything else.

At this point, I want to have it cave in. Seal it for good and just keep the normal game running. Or just quit altogether. But we can make it work for one thing: You're not playing that week, have free time and want to write? Go in and have fun.

If that meta isn't enough and you need more in-game justifications then I'm afraid at the moment I'm completely dry.

What I really want to say is: Eli and I are keeping track of things, we think through the pairings, we think and discuss your rewards with you, we outline the setting around what you write in your character sheets and quests resolutions. We're trying to make this as seamless as for you as it can possibly be! If you really want an excel sheet with all the variables and decision making steps, I can probably make one... In fact I could just link you to the GDoc one we use. That would just make it unnecessary to have a GM in the first place.

Eli again: :) it's no worries guys. But hopefully this explains our process better. We're attempting to run things on our end smoothly, in order to let you guys just have fun writing. That IS what this RP was started for, anyway.

Welp, guess I'm gonna be idle next floor. Guess that works; gives me time to plan my practice RP, among other things.
