When the fudge did you get those?

Salvantas has traveled around and learned many things in his time. It would just take someone with magic talent linking the object to the persons life force. Not a very complicated spell. If GM's want it removed I am good with it and can replace it.

I think he said that because it's more complicated than most of the stuff we have had so far by a good deal. If the GMs are OK with it, I don't have any trouble. Just means I can start inventing more complex magic trinkets too, and bringing up stuff that's been shot down up till now.

Just out of curiosity, whom should I PM to get myself involved with some plot which is already going on? That isn't character specific of course, I think...

What if a "dark side" member gets arrested? (Also, isn't that kind of uniform kinda conspicuous?)

And in that lies the beauty of the outfit. Most people who spot them will probably be those who are about to have a crime committed upon them and one be in the best of mind to describe the person exactly other then coat and mask. People might just begin to assume it is just one person who is doing stuff at multiple times throughout the night. Rumors will make some people worried about committing a crime if the masked man will slip out of the shadows to stop them. Even those who realize it is more then one person wouldn't know exactly which masked man did what.

As for getting arrested if it looked unavoidable they each have a different fake story ready to tell the guards. Everything ranged from under a spell to I am a crazy person. They will deny being part of any group and say they are working independently from any group or organization. If it looks like they might break each one of them is loyal enough to Blank to end their lives in the name of the guild. This is not Salvantas/Blank making them do anything through magic, they just believe in the cause.

As for the charms I want to really stress that these by no means DO anything other then their functions. They are just to keep track of members and make sure that no one tries to fake being a member. They do not allow me to track them, or kill them, or control them. They are just badges with self destruct mechanics that catch them on fire and burn them. And not even a huge flame, just enough to ruin the badge.

Dark Side Rules
3. They have been ordered to assist anyone in trouble, so if a guild member is attacked and they see it they will step in and use full force to assist, even if it means their own death or maiming. They will then escape into the dark.
4. They will do anything to escape capture. Up to and including losing a limb and killing themselves.

Ok, so, short version is nope. Neither the badges nor the Dark Side faction. Long version follows:

Salvantas is a Scout, he can't enchant or do magic. So, he couldn't make the tags himself. The only player character that has some enchanting skill right now is Kurt, and he doesn't have enough skills to enchant exploding life force badges.

As for the Dark Side, you're essentially declaring a Red Shirt army. There's no way Salvantas can have formed a faction of radical devotees in such a short amount of time (not even considering how loyal they are supposed to be :|) and HU isn't that much more powerful than any of the other guilds, even if they look nice in the public eye.

But basically, something like I wrote before, about the fact that with that kind of NPC help, Salvantas can just solo everything commanding his squad, and the idea of hunters taking out the bad guys just makes every other player useless because there's no longer a problem to solve. (in which case the quests will consist of you all narrating a waltz or a polite discussion of sewer system's engineering)

----

In general, to everyone, I'll repeat what I've been saying. I get the feeling that you all want to do everything all at once... Things will develop, everyone will get their characters to where they want, it doesn't need to be all in 5 floors. Because it does feel like you intend beat the castle by the 5th floor. :| Besides, you're building massive towers inside the sandbox... Sand can shift, things can change and if you plan too far ahead, I'm afraid you might get disappointed by having planned paths become impossible.

Seire actually has a pretty significant following as far as sheer numbers go, I believe, but most of them are like beggars and pickpockets and such, so not like some army or anything, even if there are a huge number of them.

The Assassins are a fairly populous faction but since they are an enemy faction I dont think its that big a deal....right?

Just to address Seire's PTA: the thieves work as an information line, they're a way for Seire to know where to go, or have a bit of an upper hand in knowing what to expect, not a military force that makes players obsolete in the problem-solving front. I will have words with Mimsy if he suddenly has an army of beggars. :|

That is pretty much exactly what they are. The information line, not an army of beggars. Who would even want that anyway? It wouldn't be very efficient. From talking to him, they are all kind of honorarily inducted into the guild and get to live in the safety of the compound he owns and all that, explaining why they are loyal to him. After all, he is giving them a home and supplies and all that. In return, they give him information and such, and the more profitable ones keep things stocked up a bit around the compound. Only a few of them are actually capable fighters, and I think they are mostly his named backstory related NPCs.

Eh just ignore earlier posting about stuff and such. I will fix it later

As for us thinking we are going to be done by floor 5.

HeHeHe I realized a bit ago exactly what would be happening later one. And in the long game this stuff is important to get out of the way now.

Spoilers

Not to be a spoil-sport, but we GM's have stuff planned too!

In fact, there is something on the 26th that we're planning. It will be fun.

Hasn't the term "micro-nation" been thrown around with this group a few times? Just what exactly is the size of this group, cause the picture in my head when I hear micro-nation is quite a large force of beggars. :0

Well Micro-nations are technically less about population number and more about political independence

A note for Blur on the armor suits: The way I wrote them, they were supposed to be able to shrug off most damage unless you were able to put a blade into a weak point in their chest plate, which I guess hid their core. Anyway, when Mimsy thought them up his prompt was that that was the only way to kill them. Have fun.

Seire's guild is, for a guild, pretty huge. I would say that the total count of people who are members of the PTA, both publicly and secretly, numbers somewhere between 500 and 1000. However, as Sicon mentioned, most of them aren't frontline fighters, instead mostly being scouts, spies, and, of course, thieves.

Of course, Shirou and Black Zess, both of them being expert, highly-trained combatants, are currently giving the guild members military training, but considering that it's only been about a month or less since the guild's creation, I'm assuming that nothing's going to come of that for quite some time.

In any case, is having highly capable allied NPCs a problem? Because I did intend to have Shirou and Scarlet, at the very least, assisting Seire every now and again in the present. Of course, this would probably be in solo quests like, say, the Underground, but still.

I believe named, recurring characters are not an issue. My issue is having the ability to BS every quest by saying "Oh, I had a guild-member who specialized in that take care of it for me" or "Red-shirt unnamed character told me what to do at a previous off-screen moment". This basically takes the fun out of the game, because all issues are instantly solvable, with the ability to summon what you need out of hammerspace at any moment.

In the name of full disclosure, what follows is an earlier draft of the sidestory between Ben, Anji, and Jenny which I just posted. For a brief period of time this was what appeared in the official sidestory thread, but that oversight was soon corrected.

and I said beam me up, scotty. and can I get a cup of coffee, and the internet, it still doesn’t work.” said the platypus, banging his gavel for emphasis. the world was in sepia.

Timmy fell out of a tree, but the ground was purple, and purple was above him, not below. The starlings were singing underground.

The man sighed as bubbles floated downward towards a never beginning ocean. “Why can’t I be a real flashlight?” wept the tuna, as they swam through the elephant. The tea bubbled slowly as the chips swam through hummus.

On the surface, the waves were slowly solidifying into a terrifyingly magnificent tower of silk scarves. The sandwiches wept in terror as blue boxes rained from the walls.

The blue boxes burst open in a shower of rabbits, revealing their contents to be made of rainbows and mercury.
