Somebody linked Eli to that thing about cuils again, right?
Why should we do the right thing?
-Well... because it's the right thing to do, there's no other good reason.

Well guys... Something I've been seeing on the game isn't working quite as well as it's supposed to be. Or at least not how I originally envisioned it. Not your fault, but... This next update is something big that hopefully will hammer in the message of the game: We are on the same side, we all have to work together here.

You have plans for your characters, things you want to happen and such. Tell me these goals! There's a value to surprises, but there's nothing more frustrating than having to worry about unsaid plans. If you create things that wreck my plans as a GM, it's my job to adapt to it. But if you gambit away and wreck another player's game plan, it does become an issue. That last part is something I can mediate, provided I know what you want in the first place.

Lastly, the boss fight has been delayed. A lot. That means something happened and writing is not being done. If writing is not being done then there is a problem of some sort. When there's a problem, tell me about it. Request a change of the pair. There are 100 floors to this thing, there'll be no shortage of moments of awesome to have. And if you can't write, sticking to it only prevents others from trying. I'll probably be more strict with time limits from now on. I'm allowing this one like this because I was the one to green-light doing a 4-way post in the first place, but most definitely no 4-way quests will ever happen in the Main Thread again.

So, all in all, have mercy on the Pixel. The warranty has expired a while ago, if you break him it would be evil.

That said, I'll need more time to wrap even more issues, so the next update won't go up Sunday. >_< So, even if there are problems, it's going up on Wednesday.

*Is quite aware there has been a problem with the writing*
*Is not going to say what, because she's not on the writing team and has no right to do so, but frankly, she's feeling a bit grouchy about the whole thing.*

Because in this situation guys, you should really tell the GMs of this RP about what the problems so they can help you work around them. That is kind of what they're here for? :|

I know I've had difficulty with the several-writers setting in the past. It's hard for me. You may not believe this but I'm actually quite shy and find it difficult to share my writing of emotionally and mentally charged situations without being hideously embarrassed. I'm worried I can't do it and sometimes its a struggle to work together to create something, but I still really enjoy the process and the end product is always worth it, if different to something I would have written on my own. I feel I'm learning from you guys and, hopefully, that you're learning from me. That makes me happy. :)

That's what this is ABOUT guys. Cooperation. We all knew that when we signed up. Why waste time arguing about what needs and doesn't need to be done? This is about MORE than just one persons characters or ideas or plans or plots. This is all about concepts working together to form meaningful wholes.

I mean, I think the base idea was while players would be allowed to write relationships however they wanted it would not be allowed to turn into any kind of PvP situation. Inter cast conflict was acceptable and, indeed, logical. The entire concept of this game isn't about showing off who can write the best or the fanciest scenes, it was about the PLAYERS working together to improve their own writing skills and learn to write with others.

I mean, I do want to make a point that while, yes, the goal of this is cooperation, that was something we all signed up planning on (I wouldn't be involved in this if I felt I had to fight my friends characters all the time, also my character isn't designed for an entirely hostile situation and likely wouldn't survive PvP) conflict is the soul of drama. I know that just because people are on the same goal doesn't mean their characters automatically fall into the 'same side' behaviour. Some characters are just NOT going to get ALONG with other characters. Human interaction being the amazingly complex thing that it is, and us all being pretty well versed in the ideas of all kinds of tropes and interactions that come about in this kind of storytelling...

But I think that's probably not what you mean there, Pix, so just ignore me :)

If anyone is unhappy about the delay since their update has been moved from Sunday to Wednesday, then you can direct your annoyance at me. I was having a minor stress-related freakout trying to get all of the fifty million things that had to be done this week done, and I asked if eli and Pix were willing to give me a little more time. They graciously said yes and gave me a few extra days, for which I am very happy. :D
Normal people are the easiest to manipulate. Too smart and they have an annoying tendency to catch wind of your plans, too dumb and, in the words of a certain pirate, "You can never tell when they are about to do something incredibly...stupid."

So the people Salvantas sent out to find you are willing to protect you if attacked. They are trained in nonleathal fighting methods but will try and limit the amount of fighting they do to just protection.

Wrong on the first assumption. Right on the second one.

There are people who are not explorers / fighters / adventurers and just got roped into going. They still work around as bakers, brewers, construction workers... Pretty much all the required jobs to maintain things running. Some may have joined guilds, or gone exploring. But yeah, vanilla non-adventurers exist.

As for the second, there was the City Guard, which was essentially organizing all of the things. But spread too thin. Adam wanted to start working on a better system, but Luca took the chance with the "government" being essentially non-existent to incite chaos. It's not overthrowing a system that was there, this is more like stirring something that wasn't even properly established.

Let me see if I understood Special Event 2 straight: bunch of people and deserted guards running around town rioting in chaos or what?

Chaos and anger and suspicion and generally negative emotions, particularly against the guilds.
If you can make it better, don't make it sentient.
