So, hopefully should have a side story up soon-ish explaining how Fern joined the Loreknights.

Also, Sicon?

Don't worry about it, just get some popcorn and enjoy the show 8-)
Why should we do the right thing?

Added a few more to the NPC list, but I hope you guys will understand that I don't always go back and add further adventures to the 'other stories appeared in' list for the characters. I mean, if I were going to do that with some of you guys I'd be here all day :P

Just a heads up, but I have a thing about trying to trope stuff that I've written, so it's likely that I won't necessarily add things related to works of mine (or things I have worked on) to the trope pages. So.....if you see something, add it I guess. I, in all likelihood, won't.

I would like to suggest the addition of loose time-frames to the quests provided to players, something a little like this:

  • Quest XX: Insert Title Here (Takes Place 3 hours after Quest WW)

I say this because I've noticed keeping our timelines straight is getting difficult. I first noticed a problem in our most recent quests: by that time Tamar ad Salvantas should really have KNOWN about Anji being stabbed, but since Eli and Pix were writing that scene at the same time as Xana and I were, we didn't discover it had taken place until our writing was done: we didn't have time to adapt our story with this knowledge, and knowledge of the event SHOULD have affected our characters behaviours. It's not the only problem I've noticed, and I think giving a vague time scale for the quest would keep things in order.

I would also suggest that writers have some patience and post in the order the quests were given to help maintain this sense of timing. I'm sure you quest 47 guys can hang onto your writing until 46 and 45 have posted even if you finish first, and then you can adapt a little if necessary before posting. :P

As has been mentioned probably... waaaaaaaaaaaaay at the beginning of this thread, quests of a single turn are intended to be simultaneous. Obviously, if one's set at night and the other during the day, or they're a couple days off, it's not a big deal, but bottom line is, assigning timeframe isn't necessary, and I don't think it would even necessarily be a good thing-- it would just mean slowing things down, because if I'm writing a quest that's supposed to take place six hours after one on the same turn, I CAN'T write my quest until I know what's gone down. As opposed to assuming they're simultaneous, and then letting your friendly neighbourhood timeliming GM figure out exactly how the puzzle pieces slot together once they're up. Which you'll find has been done, in the timelime.

If you have any issues with how the timelime's ordered, please let me know and I'll put in any corrections that are needed. But otherwise, well... Look. If you want to put a timelime note at the start of the quest when you post it, I'm happy for that. But if you're just concerned that "my character doesn't know X happened during the quest because someone else's quest hadn't gone up yet but he really should have been reacting to that"-- look at it like this: people don't think everything all the time. Maybe the character has heard of it, but it's not relevant to the quest, or it is but the narration doesn't show it going through his head for any number of valid reasons. Maybe it's already happened, but it only happened a few hours ago and he simply hasn't heard yet.

Bottom line: Quests of one turn are simultaneous/approximately-simultaneous unless specified otherwise.

EDIT: also, to respond to the specific example you gave-- by that time, Tamar and Salvantas would NOT have heard about Anji and Julius. Not only did it happen within, say, 12 hours of each other, but the Anji and Julius thing happened in a secluded area and was then kept under wraps. Ben knew because they ran right into her; as far as everyone else knew, they were MIA and then declared dead a day or two later.

Sure you can, it would just be for the sake of making minor continuity edits if required, but okay, if nobody else thinks it' s required.

I think that requiring everyone to become Timelime OCD about everything we write, or requiring a set post order on every quest, would be detrimental to the RP.

I am not in favor of it, because honestly, this is a game. None of us are receiving payment for this, nor are we asking for it. We do this because we think it's fun, not because we are required to do so. If it becomes something so serious as to demand minute to minute details and updates, I will stop playing, and go somewhere else. It's not worth this level of trouble.

Right, so thanks to some witty banter while me and Russet were doing our underground quest, I am now convinced that floor 100 will be either Australia or Magic Australia. DX oh dear god spare me from this horror of horrors
