Awww yeah :D Sounds like a drinking buddy for Hector.

Also, oh my god the latest underground quest is HILARIOUS.

Although that said... seven different colours of pen? Why do I find this world having pens less believable than the Heimlich Manoeuvre? XD

Why do I find it even harder to believe the world has zippers for backpacks already? XD

Hey, metal exists, right? Just use that instead of plastic.

But the technology, tools, and skill to create such intricate designs as a zipper do NOT exist. I am totally up for letting some things slip, guys, but I draw the line at zipper backpacks.

I don't see why not. Tad is a very accomplished blacksmith; what's to say without the smaller hands of his two apprentices/assistants he can't craft some very small pieces to form the teeth of a zipper? All a zipper IS is interlocking metal attached to a band of cloth; it's not like it requires heavy machinery. You just need someone to have thought of it.

I'd argue that making zippers that work well and don't break is beyond the skill level of even an accomplished blacksmith in this setting. The teeth have to be precisely regular or the mechanism will fail, and your zipper will be stuck. They also have to STAY in their precise configuration over multiple uses. Someone could make a zipper, sure, but I'd expect it to be a bit big and clunky compared to what we're used to, and also to stop working effectively after continuous use.

Hm, so maybe something similar to a zip, then? Maybe a series of chain loops that can be hooked onto with other chain loops, then removed quickly with say, a strap of leather wedged beneath it and pulled? You'd have to put the zip back together to close the bag yourself, though, might be more trouble than it's worth.

That does sound more reasonable than actual zippers.

Anyways so what exactly do I do to get involved in this RP now with my character?

You can await until you get a quest, ask for an underground quest or write a sidestory.

I might write a side story later explaining how Butch ended up going to the Floating Castle, if that's fine with you guys?

It's not necessary, but you can if you really want to.

I must say, the Torvantine sisters do have habit of, ah, losing touch with themselves. That is, forgetting everything, like the silly amnesiacs they are. :|

Yeah, must run in the family.
They also seem to have a habit of getting fake-adopted by perpetually-angry redheads. :P

So yeah, now that I've had time to sleep on this, I feel okay in telling you the implications of that sidestory Adell and I just posted.

Those implications being, seeing as all the memories Tamar was just being treated to came from Asha, that means Asha has been watching... pretty much everyone. All the time. Especially him. I think, unintentionally, we have created a scenario where Asha potentially knows a lot more about current events than she is letting on. Thus we now have an explanation for all kinds of things the anti guild might know that they shouldn't. Commencing freak out in three... two...

Also, it seems we just played Hector illiteracy for something other than laughs :| And coming from Tamar a hand on the shoulder pretty much has the emotional significance of hugging.

Well... my only concern right now is that at this rate you're making it really hard to write my character with a grudge against them xD.

But yeah, I think I'm getting used to the plot twists. Cool story, guys.

This is an irrelevant post designed to give people very advanced warning that a friend of mine has expressed great interest in Floating Castle and may show up to join in the next while (you know, any time between five minutes and a month or two from now), so please try not to destroy the next unfamiliar face to show up thank you.

What do you mean? I'm the best and ONLY one qualified to be paranoid-- since I'm the one who'll know if it's my friend, I can have ALL THE PARANOIA if it isn't. :D
