I think the point of contention is "changing your perspective on everything that happens."

...I have GOT to stop weighing in on FC discussions when I have no idea what's going on in FC right now.

Who gives a damn about whether it aligns perfectly within the set limits of the trope? It's a story, not a math problem. I'm not a fan of following tropes or narrative cliches in general. I think it makes the story less impacting, and promotes tired cliches rather than exploring new ways of storytelling. So while you may have had every confidence in mine and Qara's characters and writing abilities, the fact that you predicted and feel confident enough in your predictions to mention it, makes me disappointed with how the story wrote itself.

Me being able to predict what was coming in NO way reflects on how good the story was or makes 'how it wrote itself' BAD. It was very, very good. Please don't assume it was less than that just because I'm being nit picky about trope definitions (I think that's what it mostly comes down to here and you guys all know me well enough by know to know I'm picky about that particular writing convention, Eli you are not, as you have told me, strictly a troper so you don't draw from the same reference pool as I do anyway, that doesn't mean either of us is WRONG). I LIKED that story (which I said in my previous comment.)

All I did was point out that I didn't think it was a wham moment by trope definitions, I'm sorry if me mentioning that was in some way makes you feel like it was a negative reflection on you because it was not intended as such. The fact that I could predict it was going to happen makes it, as others have already pointed out, a trope; a device, NOT a cliché. Your writing was fine.

Please don't get snappy with me, assuming you are, because I didn't encourage that reaction on purpose.

I've been writing with Eli previously so I kinda knew Nova going a bit psycho was a possibility likely to happen when she faced Kravos again, though I admit the extremity of the exact way it went down was a surprise. That's not the reason it wasn't a wham for me, though, which I am glad for, as FC kinda has me a bit of a nervous wreck lately so I'm trying to distance myself a bit anyway. I don't think I could TAKE another wham at this point. (So far as writers go I clearly lack backbone at the mo.)

Why would I think you'd think less of me for not being able to predict something? I'm not able to predict things all the time in FC, and I only sort of predicted this part because Eli had been talking to me a little bit about Nova off screen. I just kinda got that bit. It still tore my guts out and made me very sad, if that helps. :(

I think I'll channel Curtiss here and say that if the whole point is to reach the top of the castle, I see no reason to stick to the ground floor. :P

Now that Likovya's actually on the third floor, I was going to have her get interested in the fourth. From there, I'm not sure if she'd go into exploring or conquering.

Salvantas is all about protecting the people. If you give him a serious reason to leave his base of operations in the city then he will. But up to and until that point he is pretty much stuck where he is.

With regards to a permanent base higher up... might be logical, as a part of the moving up process (saves people having to go all the way to the bottom when they forget their sword) but is it 100% necessary? I mean, the Podium basically provides immediate transport to the next floor once you've found the route manually.

I say keep the first floor open as a viable territory, and allow people to form other basis as they go up, but since we pretty much destroyed half the ground floor in the civil wear, rebuilding it sounds like it should be some kind of goal of penance.

Tamar wants to go up. He wants to know the secrets of what's up there, but he's not particularly concerned WHICH floor he stays on at any given time.

I think eli's question was this: do we want to just chill on floor one, or do your characters have a vested interest in pushing forward?

I really don't see the point of the overall story if we're not planning on actively pursuing the goal many of the people who consciously went to the castle to pursue anyway, which is: find out what the heck is at the top of this thing. It's not going to be as challenging for everyone if we just stay here and there's a much higher risk of the story petering out if we don't have a constantly advancing game to focus on.

And with that, Kurt lives, and is in fact, confirmed to be the guy from this sidestory. As to HOW he is still alive, and what he was doing in a slum in the far reaches of the third floor... well, I'm certainly not telling.

Okay seriously, why does everyone in this RP have something against staying in bed when injured when there is absolutely no desperate immediately good reason for them to push themselves to do otherwise. :? No wonder the joke is "Lost Discipline: Common Sense'.

...Okay admittedly, I'm the person who's character is walking around with a giant bloodstain on his shirt, but EVEN SO.

Hey, Ben's staying in bed!

Admittedly, that's mostly because she's physically incapable of walking, but she is staying in bed!

No one knows whether Kurt stayed in bed after he got curbstomped, but I'm not going to tell you whether or not he did.

Likovya did stay in bed. Granted, it was because she was unconscious and as soon as she woke up she tried to head to the fourth floor, but she did stay in bed until the bleeding stopped.

Right, two things to say about that last trip into the Underground.

1. I knew Agora had a knack for body horror and stuff that possibly surpasses my own, but damn, man, of all places for it to show up, FC was definitely not where I was expecting it, and certainly not in the way that it did.

2. SHIPPING
