Russ Does Catchphrases

Postby RussetDivinity on Sun Aug 18, 2013 4:32 pm

This little project came from a discussion Tohr and I had while coming back from a trip. For various reasons (coughshe-hadn't-caught-up-on-webcomicscough), I talked about Floating Castle. A lot. I said something amusing about Marcus, and from there we decided to record some "catchphrases" relating to various Floating Castle characters. After some further discussion and experimenting, we decided these would be Likovya's thoughts about the various characters. I'm still debating about whether they should be wholly canonical and only involve those she's met so far, but right now, that's what we've been working with.

I know it says "Russ Does Catchphrases", but the title's a lie. Tohr's helping by recording and telling me which of my brain-spewings are funny, but she didn't want to be included in the title when I asked her. So feel free to add some if you want to! Also, enjoy. Enjoying would be nice.

Right. When we talk about our writing and characters, we tend to come up with dialogue or phrases they would say. So, we decided to have some fun with it for FC.

Likovya. To anyone.
To Marcus, inspired by the "magic knife" plan in their first quest that he didn't tell her about beforehand.
To Marcus, if Likovya had been shouting at him during said plan. Or during any future bad plan. Or any quest with Marcus, really.

I can't help but imagine Curtiss contributing something along the lines of "Dear god why do I have to put up with this" or "Shut up losers I've got some climbing to do" or "Come on! Just stab it in the face! Quick, easy, efficient! Problem solved! Do it!"
So, apparently I'm the sanest madman this side of the international date line. Seems legit.

You two are incredibly bonsus!
This is, and clearly will be, funny.
It's odd-- just the other day I was thinking about a "catchphrase" of a character I control. Though I'm inclined to not elaborate, since I haven' yet posted the piece that made me think that.

Dolphins are some of the smartest animals, yes, but by human standards… Let's say you should praise the god that forces them to stay handless and underwater.

I basically have all these saved now :3

I dunno if Tamar has a catch phrase, most of his dialogue appears to consist of asking questions he doesn't know the answer to. And a lot of his sentences start with the word "Um..."To Tamar Likovya seems pretty normal, it's only when he starts realising the Veil's way of doing things is NOT normal that Likovya's behaviour would seem out of place.

He had a nice speech about why it's important you should name your horse once though.
They sometimes say, "the place where I am right now was circled on a map for me"... Unfortunately, I kind of suck at orienteering.

Well, Fern hasn't had the time to develop catchphrases, but he does have a speech tick, so...eh. *shrugs*

I have a spreadsheet about Darren's thoughts about the characters he has met, updated more or less after a major event :P This seems like a good idea though :P
Why should we do the right thing?
-Well... because it's the right thing to do, there's no other good reason.

Am I a bad guy trying to be good, or a good guy trying to convince himself that he's not the bad guy?

"The Legendary Phantom Thief, Seire Valefar!"

Of course, that's too obvious. XD "Courage, Fortitude, and a Man's Burning Heart! THESE ARE THE THINGS THAT WILL DETERMINE WHAT SHALL BE!" Is better, IMO. XD
"The Apocalypse is basically just a tutorial." - Sicon112.

"Due to the ambiguity of this wording, I am unable to determine whether or not I am the leader of the X-Men!"
"UNIVERSE-BREAKING EPILEPSY RAVE!" - AMimsyBorogove
