Floating Castle Audio - Characters and their Players

Postby Scarab on Wed Sep 11, 2013 2:37 pm

So as you know we’ve been trying to put together some audio recordings of the Floating Castle story. Most people are playing their own characters but there is some leeway, where people don’t think their own voice matches their character, or if they’re playing a character of the opposite gender, etc.

With help from Qara, I have run up a list here of everyone playing and the people who are voicing that character for the Audio files. Characters and their players are on the left, their chosen vocalist on the right.

Requirements.

  • If you wish to play a character, please ask the character’s owner what they think first.
  • I’ve mostly just assumed everyone will be playing themselves, excluding the few people whom I already know won’t be. Let me know if this is not the case. If a name is followed by a question mark ,that means I'm just assuming.
  • If you have a specific person whom you’d like to play your character, ask them in your own time.
  • Also up for grabs are various side characters and major villains. Again, let the characters owner knew BEFORE you try to voice them.

Player Characters.
Anjali Torvantine/Nova (Eli) - Eli Gone Crazy
Ben (Qara) – Qara Xuan Zenith
Curtiss (End) – Endless Sea
Darren (Blur) – Blurred_9?
Eliziya Torvantine (Agora) – Scarab
Giselle (Narrative) – Narrative Dilettante
Hector (Adell) - ???

Nicholas Keyes (spirit) – SpiritfChaos?
Pan (Isla) – Isla Kariese?
Seire (Mimsy) – A MImsy Borogove

Tamar (Scarab) - ???

Important Side Characters/Villains
Adam (Eli) - ???

Hmm... I can't help but notice that Hector remains unvoiced.

I could try to voice Morionem if I find free time, which I'm unsure if I will do but I could try once and see how it goes. I'd also offer to voice Tamar since he's one year younger than me, in case you do would like such, but I'm not sure if I'd be the best person to voice any character because sometimes I just mess up pronounciation even when I know how a word is supposed to sound >_> And then I keep repeating the word until it stop sounding like a word and become a sole phoneme <_<

I can do any male character and any vaguely male sounding female character that people need me to do, but there may be slight delays on my audio coming in on times that aren't breaks from school, since we now own, or at least have access to, decent recording equipment, but I can only use it when I'm at home and not in college.

I might also be able to do Tamar. Forgot to mention that.

I don't know what any of these characters sound like, but I'd be happy to help out for any male voices without an assigned role yet. I believe I've already sent examples of my vocal range in the past?

Everyone who's just commented would pretty much all be good for villains. Fairly sure you all have skills in that area

I'm open to act as any female characters needed. Or male characters, provided they're in the baritone range or higher. But, you know. We have dudes who can do that. (Also, full disclosure: my recording equipment consists of the laptop mike, but it hasn't been a problem so far.)

Villains I can do. Also, hamminess. I like being hammy.

Seconded - that is, if you need a villain voiced with my best Norio Wakamoto impression...

You're cute when you're insecure. :P

I'd be willing to voice a female character as needed. I mean, I have to find and then replace my headset microphone (stupid thing broke again but it's covered under a protection plan; those things are NECESSARY for people who abuse their electronics the way I do) but that should happen pretty soon.

Ideally, I'd voice a character who's super different from Giselle so their voices could be really distinct.

I have a deep voice, an okay faux-British accent, and one hell of an evil laugh. Villain does indeed sound like the way to go. ^^

Having been character-orphaned by my shortsighted decision to write as someone with a voice so antithetical to my own, I'm open to playing male characters.

Also if you need Scottish I can do that

I could do Fern when we end up that far along in the story. Which I don't expect to be for quite some time.

Although I suppose that I could voice other people if you think I'm appropriate.

I do plan on voicing my character, it's just that I'm so busy lately... >.>
Why should we do the right thing?

I can voice Likovya, and I'm open for handling other female characters as needed. Male, though... I'm not sure how authentic they'd sound.

I'm happy with even doing random background people who never reappear. I just want practice. I'm good at changing my voice while speaking directly to someone, but I need a lot of practice compensating for the microphone and coming across with just the right amount of emotion so that it carries well with only audio information.

Personally, I don't think I can voice Julius. Microphone aside, his accent and my accent are completely incompatible. In my head, anyway.

But Shard is fair game. If I can get my laptop's microphone to work, that is. I'd like to voice him. But don't quite count on me for that, I doubt I'll be able to pull that off.

I can def do Pan, and I like to think I'd be a pretty decent villain voice, too. No clue, though, really.
The voices in my head tell me that we saved the world. However, they also told me that George Clooney's face is on the dollar bill, so... meh. The voices are more fun, anyway.

Pix, what kind of voice are you looking for in Julius? That might help us find a person to voice him.

Hum... I'm not quite sure, to be honest.

But somewhat maybe possibly good news? I got a new headset. :) It even has a possibly good enough microphone built in. I could try to record something and see how that works?

I'm apparently communicating by means of rhetorical questions now, I'm not even sure why myself. Maybe it's just me being sleepy? We'll see, we'll see...

So, yeah, I might try to record something.
