Once again I come to ask those of you who can write fiction to help add to the charge that is currently fixing the various corruptions and breaks in my systems. I apologize for the time it is taking, and I know there are those of you who wish to take the fight to New Light and stop their activities now. All I can say to this is be patient, and that the time of their reckoning is soon.

But for now here is what you can do, another round of stories, however this time with a different prompt.

Write a Superhero doing something that helps the public in some way. I won't bother with examples, for knowing the creative among you this simple sentence provides more than enough. What powers/equipment/etc. they have is up too you. Stories are recommended to cap themselves at 1500 words, any more will just take longer to process and there would be diminishing returns on works that exceed it.

Write a Superhero doing something that helps the public in some way.

Unlike the first time, I had an idea even before I finished reading this sentence.

This is a slight use of an idea for a superhero franchise/series I've been working on for years now. Hopefully there's some fun to be had with this.

Gatekeeper looked on to the barrage of villains as they slowly approached the city, each just as dangerous as the next. “Christ where’s the team when I need them?” he remarked to himself as he made his pose and prepared to fly straight into the danger.

Name: Gatekeeper/Justin Ryan.
Powers: Flight, Strength, Speed and Healing Factor.
Relations: Sister is Holly/Jupiter. Parents are Cody and Jill Ryan. Girlfriend is Olivia/Purple Spectrum.

Within mere seconds, he went flying crashing into the villains as they fell to the ground. As they got themselves up, Gatekeeper used the opportunity to attack as many as he could, punching, kicking and even head-butting a few.

Despite the valiant effort, the army of bad guys started fighting back. Knocking him around into buildings, roads and telegraph poles without a sweat. As Gatekeeper got up, covered in bruises but just barely surviving, he saw a familiar figure in the sky, one that floated him up into the air and landed him on the roof of the building beside her.

Name: Jupiter/Holly Ryan.
Powers: Telepathy, Telekinesis, Pyrokinesis.
Relations: Brother is Justin/Gatekeeper. Parents are Cody/Jetman Jill Ryan. Girlfriend is Patricia Marr/Salem Witch.

“About time you showed up sis. Look at these guys. Army of supervillains, taking over the city. It’s insane. Where’s the rest of the team?” Gatekeeper stated, with a smug voice to his slightly younger sibling.

“They’re on their way now. They’re just taking care of some business with the idiot behind this mess. Besides you have totally have things under control here.” Jupiter replied, looking to her brother slightly annoyed.

“Oh shut it. Now let’s go kick some ass.” Gatekeeper replied as the brother-sister team jumped down and started beating up mook after mook. As they continued fighting, the villains started carrying out a massive freeze ray.

“A freeze ray? These guys are desperate. And maybe taking things a little too overboard.” Jupiter commented, using her telekinesis to make the massive ray fall down.

“Yeah it is pretty weird. Let’s hope things don’t get even weirder.” Gatekeeper joked, setting ablaze to henchman without even looking.

“Weirder? Your girlfriend is literally an alien princess that glows purple and can control almost all kinds of energy.” Jupiter noted, looking toward her brother chuckling.

“Yeah. Well your girlfriend is quite literally a witch with magical powers and spells. So your point holds no weight.” Gatekeeper snarked back as the duo kept punching up villains left and right.
“These guys won’t stop coming will they?” Jupiter asked as her brother replies in a deadpan manner “Well this is an army.”

Eventually the siblings could catch a sight beyond the city’s outside. The whole team was finally here to help. “Oh thank you god. The Enforcers are here to save the day!” Gatekeeper stated with relief, joking around a bit.

The remainder of the team reached Gatekeeper and Jupiter and started helping out on the fight, destroying the freeze ray in the process. As the team started fighting the enemies beside them, two older members looked to them with smug expressions.

“Justin, Holly. What did we tell you about saving us some of the action?” Jetman replied alongside, looking upon his own children grinning with delight.

“Yeah come on kids. You can’t steal all the fun.” Jill added, standing beside her husband as the two causally punch out a henchman.

Names: Cody/Jetman and Jill (No Codename) Ryan.
Powers: Cody: Flight, Strength and Pyrokinesis. Also millionaire weapons maker who personally uses his own gadgets. Jill: Telepathy, Telekinesis and Healing Factor.
Relations: Married. Children are Justin/Gatekeeper and Holly/Jupiter. Business Associate is Victor/Nightwatcher.

“You’ve said plenty about that Mum and Dad. Now help us kick some ass.” Gatekeeper replied almost bored, as he moved towards his respective girlfriend Purple Spectrum.

“About time you showed up. Things are boring for me when you’re not here.” Gatekeeper joked as he gave his girlfriend a small kiss.

“So you claim.” Purple Spectrum replied back, smiling towards her boyfriend gleefully as she sprayed blasts of energy all over the place.

Name: Olivia (Adopted Earth name, true Azealon name unpronounceable) / Purple Spectrum.
Powers: Manipulation of almost all kinds of energy.
Relations: Mother is Azealon Queen. Boyfriend is Justin/Gatekeeper.

As this went on, Jupiter moved towards her own girlfriend, Salem Witch, giving her a quick peck as the couple held hands and fought side by side.

“What spell will you cast this time? Please be the ice one. I love mixing up fire and ice.” Jupiter asked in a quite geeky fashion.

“Your wish is my command.” replied Salem Witch, as she casted her spell and made various henchmen frozen while Jupiter burned off the ice, knocking out the just thawed out villains.

Name: Patricia Marr/Salem Witch.
Powers: Magical Abilities and Spell casting.
Relations: Girlfriend is Holly/Jupiter.

The Enforcers continued fighting together, keeping civilians out of harms way while knocking out as many villains as they could. Amongst the other team members were Blueman and Crystal, both fighting together as they stop more villains from entering the city.

Names: Tim Thornton (True alien name unknown)/Blueman and Keira Abrams/Crystal.
Powers: Tim: Strength, Speed, Laser/X-Ray Vision and Invulnerability. Keira: Manipulation of Crystals and ability to transform whole body into a invulnerable crystal form.
Relations: In a relationship with each other.

As this went on Nightwatcher could be seen on the roof of a nearby building, taking out villains from a distance and communicating the whereabouts of wayward henchman to the team. “Gatekeeper, Spectrum you have a bad guy on your 12 o’clock.” He stated, communicating into his earpiece as the couple hear the message.

Name: Victor Brooks/Nightwatcher
Powers: None, uses above average fighting skills and weapons designed by he and Cody for battle. Also have high technological intelligence.
Relations: Business Associate/Friend is Cody Ryan.

Eventually the entire army of villains was taken care of. All knocked out and neatly laced together in one pile by Jetman to be arrested.

“Well I suppose this was a nicely done job for the Enforcers don’t you think?” Blueman commented, turning to Crystal.

“Yeah probably. Felt more like an average day than anything else if you ask me.” Crystal replied, feeling a bit bored and unimpressed.

The team stood together in formation, waving to the city’s citizens, as they all flew off, some being carried by others back to their main base. Ready and excited for another mission to handle.

Name: (Formerly a Corporal) John Smith, Nicknamed by the press "Sergeant Buckshot", for use of a Shotgun in battle over a typical rifle.
Powers: Enhanced Strength, Invisibility, Can take bullets into flesh with little effect to performance, can regenerate health 2x faster than normal soldiers and cannot be electrocuted by the German "lighting wire" defenses.
Nationality: British, hails from the East End of London.
Type of Superhero: Super Soldier.
Weapons: Ithaca 37 Shotgun, Webley Revolver, Titanium E-Tool.
Costume: A Gas Mask, infused with the spells of a Chinese magician/stage performer that allows John to spot invisible enemies, detect the presence of mines or gas, see in the dark and focus fire, with the compulsory British "Brodie" helmet, an improved version of the normal body armour that extends to the whole arms and legs, with the Union Jack emblazoned on the back and front of the breastplate. Under the armor wears a Khaki Sergeant's uniform, and over the armor has magazine pouches, a Utility belt and a 12 Guage shell bandolier.
Setting: Western Front, 1944, in an alternate universe where the Ghostapo+Cthulhu cult Nazis almost crushed the Allies at the start of WW2, so all WWI soldiers were resurrected along with armies from other nations to form an alliance.
Mission: Save 2 German and 3 British teenagers, around the ages of 14-15, who ran away from home to join the army and bring them back to their mothers.

"Sergeant, Shoggoth behind you!" barked Colonel Williams over the radio.

The Super Soldier spun around from his hiding place to reveal the hideous abomination standing behind him. He pumped his Shotgun and slamfired four rounds into the oozing gray blob of tentacles, claws and eyes, the electric, anti-personnel rounds doing their work as it let out an inhuman screech and collapsed.

As he was about to leave the waterlogged steel-and-concrete underground chambers that made up the so-called Nazi "trenches", a platoon of SS Blitz-Sodalten, or the Nazi's version of the Allied stormtroopers burst into the chamber, their eyes glowing with otherwordly power. Their peaked caps, black trench coats, bullying swagger, trademark MP-40s fitted with special iron sights, steel-backed wooden stocks and curved magazines that held 9mm hollow points made them instantly recognizable to the average soldier.

"Eindringling! SCHNELL!" roared the lead, a huge muscular mass of a man waving the Walther P38 pistol/carbine, complete with stock, extended barrel, and scope, fired expanding 9mm rounds which regularly caused organs to dissolve.

"Herr, hat er seine Schrotflinte!" yelled the man beside him.

"Dann nehmen Sie Ihre Messer, dummkopfs!" snapped the man in reply.

They charged, knives glinting. Sergeant Buckshot switched to his E-tool and snapped the jaw on the man nearest to him, then broke the knives of two others and split them in half in one stroke. He dented and fractured the skull of the next soldier and finally took out the last five with two powerful swipes, spilling their guts onto the floor.

"It's done, sir. I think they're behind that door on the right." he said into his earpiece.

"Excellent. Go in and eliminate anyone who is holding them captive."

When it was over, Sergeant Buckshot broke down the door leading to the next room. To his horror, one of the teenagers was being prepared for a gruesome "experiment" by one of the so-called "doctors", who tried to make their own combination of Eldritch Abomination and man.

"PLEASE, SIR!" yelled a freckled private in a Liverpudlian accent. "I don't know anything! Don't do this to me!"
"Silence, Subject 169! You are a human guinea-pig, and nothing more!" snarled the doctor, slapping the lad.
The other four boys, hanging upside down with flog marks on their backs, looked on in pity and pain as their comrade began to sob for his mother.

"Schau ihn dir an, wieder zu weinen." sighed a soldier in mock-pity. He hefted his Sturmgewehr assault rifle. The doctor nodded and forcibly pulled open the boy's mouth. The soldier mounted his combat knife onto the bayonet lug.

Immediately, Sergeant Buckshot uncloaked. The two guards and doctor fell prey to his revolver. As the boys' mouths dropped open upon realizing who it was, he snapped their wires in half with his hands and gestured to them. The five soldiers put on their armour and took their weapons, the three Brits taking their Enfields and Webleys, the two Jerries loading their Gewehr 43s and Mauser C96 pistols.

The boys trailed behind the 30-year old in front of them. Whatever obstacle confronted them, a bomb, E-Tool swing or 12 Gauge slug took care of it.

As the boys reached the entrance of the fortress and emerged into the waterlogged trench, the Sergeant, chest-deep in water, picked them up one by one and told them to charge across No Man's Land, where a waiting ambulance unit would pick them up. They obliged.

The Sergeant took off behind them, just as the Nazi troops opened fire on him. They were immediately silenced a short barrage from mini-mortars.

Later, in recently liberated Mons:

The tears and gratitude of the mothers huddling close to the Sergeant followed him all the way to the train station.

The Sergeant turned to look at a local English newspaper-"SERGEANT SAVES RUNAWAY BOYS, BRINGS THEM HOME SAFELY!"

Under the gas mask, a smile crept over his scarred face.

The fire blazed. Helicopters carried news crews and firefighters, both groups attempting to determine how much damage had already been done and where the danger would spread next.

Already a farm had been lost. No one talked of putting out the flames, of saving what structure remained. The only goal now was containment.

“From the helicopter footage, it looks like this row of houses behind me is at risk. We’re still waiting for an evacuation order, but many families have already opted to leave their homes.” A reporter spoke into a camera, maintaining a grim professionalism even as she felt the temperature rising around her. “Any minute now, we’re expecting an announcement from the fire department chief letting us know how they expect things to shape up. Once we get that announcement, we’ll have an idea of who needs to head to a shelter and what roads they should avoid.” She held a hand to her ear as new information was fed to her. “We’ve just received confirmation of the evac order for this development. If you live in or around the Twin Lions complex, you are advised to leave your home and proceed to your fire shelter, which is located at Sutter University. Again, if you live anywhere near Twin Lions, you must leave your home.”

A few minutes earlier, the Magnificent Megan conferred with the fire chief, trying to find a way that her invulnerability could ease this disaster.

“I could carry a hose into the middle of the field,” she suggested.

“No good,” said the chief. “It’s so hot out there, the water would evaporate before it touched the ground.”

“I could just try to stamp it out,” said Megan, throwing her hands up.

“That’s a better idea than the hose, actually. But what we really need is a fire break. If we could clear the brush from an area so that the fire won’t have anything to catch onto, that would make all the difference. Tell me,” said the chief, looking at the superhero appraisingly, “Can you dig a trench?”

“Sure, if you give me a shovel.”

“We’ve got those.”

“Okay,” said Megan, “Where should I start digging?”

The fire chief gestured to the wall, where a display showed the current range of the fire. “There are two places that concern us right now. Here, there’s a wildlife refuge. It’s full of dry plant matter; if it catches, the fire’s spreading to at least another dozen acres, and things get harder to predict from there. But here…” his finger indicated a position at the other edge of the blaze, “there’s a housing development at risk. The fire’s not there yet, but if we don’t do anything I’m afraid these will all go up, and if that happens there will almost certainly be casualties.”

Megan nodded, staring at the map as she evaluated priorities. “Get those houses evacuated. I’m tackling the wildlife refuge.”

“-Extraordinary footage as we see the Magnificent Megan standing within feet of the fire… it looks like she’s wearing her trademark costume; I can see the glint of sequins, unless those are sparks, I’m not certain… But she’s not wearing any sort of protective equipment, like you or I would require. I’m standing about 20 feet from the fire, where the firefighters set up a barrier to prevent civilians from wandering too close, and even here I can feel the heat on my skin. I can’t even imagine what it would feel like to be right up next to it. And yes, for you viewers at home, she is carrying a shovel and digging. That’s a technique firefighters have been using for years, digging a trench to prevent the fire from spreading further. I’m not sure where she is in relation to me, but I can’t see her near the Twin Lions complex, so I think she’s probably fighting on a different front than the firefighters.” The view on the monitor changed, cutting away from the Magnificent Megan’s resolute digging to show the reporter where she stood. “Meanwhile, all of these houses have been evacuated, and the fire department is using foam spray to try to deter the flames. All traffic into the complex has been halted; the police force is turning people away and directing traffic around the area instead of through.”

The camera shifted as the sounds of screams and shouts came through. Behind the reporter, one of the houses was now alight.

Firefighters descended on the house, surrounding it and dousing it with water. While the superhero dug her trench, the regular heroes barely managed to limit the damage from the house fire.

As night fell, the weather changed. Wind died down. Nearer the shoreline, fog began to rise. Backlit by the light of the fire, the chief announced that containment was now at 60%, and they no longer believed any more residences to be in danger. “Thankfully, the fire has begun to reach the edge of fuel sources. The rocky plains north and east of here don’t offer much support for it to spread. We would like to offer our especial thanks to the Magnificent Megan, who singlehandedly cut off the fire before it could reach the Mather Wildlife Preserve. Without her efforts, we would certainly not be at 60% containment right now.”

A few days later, the firefighters were done with their job. They left the scene, returned to their families, and got some much-needed sleep.

Construction crews showed up, ready to begin repairs on damaged homes. And there with them, carrying wooden boards, mixing cement, or simply holding up walls if need be, was the Magnificent Megan.

A superhero is never done with her job.

The child opened her eyes only to find that almost no light reached her current location. Laid on the floor, or what she thought was the floor, she slowly and fearfully checked her surroundings with her hands. Broken furniture and beams surrounding her, making her feel glad that she wasn’t claustrophobic. She tried moving her legs only to find that they were trapped between the rubble around her.

“Mom?”, she called, hoping for a nearby answer, but there was none. Her voice sounded muffled where she was. She panicked, ”what if nobody can hear me?” she thought suddenly.

“Mom! Dad!” she called again, desperation seeping inside her voice. She realized her throat hurt. Must have been all the dust that surrounded her. Nevertheless, she kept trying. They had to realize that she wasn’t with them. They surely would start looking for her any time now, saving her from her predicament. Thinking like that, she managed to calm herself down a bit.

Her head hurt, but she wasn’t exactly sure why. She remembered waking up at night after hearing a crack under her bed. At first she thought nothing of it, dismissing the occurrence. ”Perhaps somebody dropped something big downstairs”, she had said to herself as she turned around on her bed and attempted to fall asleep again. But then she heard the ominous cracking again, even louder than before. And then, in an instant, one more time, the sound becoming more raucous. As soon as she left her bed, the floor below her gave in and she fell, followed by the ceiling of her room.

The recount of the events, replayed on her mind made her felt uneasy. She was worried about herself, but she also started worrying about her parents and their whereabouts. Maybe they hadn’t had the time to get out of the house either? The grim thought began appearing on her mind, but she repelled it immediately, holding onto uncertain hope. Even so, she could feel her eyes watering as she thought at her condition. She moved a hand to her head and felt the scraps and bruises on it. Just then she broke down and yelled in thoughts:

”Somebody! I’m here! I’m trapped! Mom, Dad! I’m heeeeeeereeeee!

Her mental call for help was met with silence.

”I’m here…”, she thought, ready to lose all hope, tears streaming down her face. Just then, a quiet distant voice echoed in her mind.

Yes? Is somebody there?

“Yes! Yes! I’m here! Help me!”, she shouted with all her remaining strength, but once again, there wasn’t an answer to her words.

”Somebody?”, the voice sounded more distant this time. Whoever it was, she had to try to reach it, otherwise she would remain trapped there. She kept yelling, trying as hard it as she could, but the voice didn’t seem to react. She didn’t think she was so far underground so that her voice could not be heard. ”Why can’t you hear me…?”, she asked to herself, hopeless.

”...You’re there… aren’t you?”, the voice asked again ”I’m afraid I can only hear your thoughts, not your voice. Can you please keep thinking while I try to find you?”, he requested, his voice sounding closer.

Finally understanding, the trapped girl stopped yelling. ”Yes! My house… came crashing down… I’m trapped… I can’t even move my legs...”

”It’s okay, I’ll find you in a bit… I just need to find the right house… rubble… uh… you get what I’m saying.”, the voice echoed in her head with a hint of embarrassment. ”I’ve been helping the others for a while. Your parents must be worried sick.”

”So, they’re alright?”, the girl thought, letting go of her despair. Somehow, the news that people were trying to find her, and others who were trapped like her, made her feel relieved.

”Most likely… Ok, I think I found your house. I need to be silent for a while, but I’ll get you out of there, ok?”, the voice explained just before it went silent. She nodded in understanding, but suddenly realized that the man couldn’t tell that, so she replied in her mind.

Minutes passed and there still wasn’t a sign of the man. Even though she felt more calm now, she started getting impatient. ”Hi… how’s it going?”, she thought, trying to communicate with the man, feeling slightly silly afterward. It all sounded really stupid inside her head.

”Nearly there… hold on.”, just as the words echoed in her mind, she felt the wooden beams above her shift in position. The light from the moon entered through the gap, not much time had passed after all. She looked expectantly at the remaining rubble, slowly but steadily being removed from around her. When most of them were gone she realized that there was nobody picking them up, not even a machine. They simply removed themselves from the heap of rubble and flew off elsewhere.

After a while, she was free from the remains of her house. A man with a white mask helped her stand up and, due to the lack of other people nearby, or probably because he would stood out among those who could be considered “normal people”, she assumed that he must have been the one who saved her… by somehow moving the rubble from afar. The idea still seemed silly in her head, and the weak-looking man with the white mask, long coat and classy fedora didn’t seem to say otherwise.

“Thank you”, she finally said. The main remained silent.

“You’re welcome.”, his voice echoed through his mind again. The girl frowned. ”I’m sorry. I can only communicate like this... I’m mute, slightly deaf.”, he made an awkward pause before revealing his secret. The girl felt awkward.

”I’m sorry” she finally thought, lowering her gaze. She tried walking up to him, but one of her legs still hurt. She wondered if it was broken.

”Don’t worry. I get by just fine” the man replied, a smile on his face. ”Besides, I can do this, which is pretty cool, right?”

”Who are you?”

”Huh? Just some guy I guess… that’s not really important. There are families looking for missing peoples, can I get your name?”

”It’s Emilia Ackerson” she answered immediately and then the man went silent for a bit.

”Ok, you’re parents are on their way, also, I notified the paramedics about your leg, they’ll be here soon too.”

”Thank you so much!”

”Again, don’t worry about it. I’ll be going now.” the man shrugged and started hurrying towards some of the nearby houses. Surely there were other people trapped.

”Wait… you’re one of those, right? Like in comic books!” she asked, amused. The man laughed and looked at her before continuing on his way.

”What makes you think that way?”

Also, about the video...

Matrx's background is a checkered green.

This could signify the green binary in the Matrix, nothing special.

But to me, it kind of looked like a Creeper.

Creepers appear in Minecraft.

Who has soil similar to the pattern in the background, but lighter.

Could this mean Matrx is part of SmartSoil?

That could seem to be the matter as well...either he's showing us an omen or being SUPERHERO!
