Announced meet-up: New York City, January 19th

Postby Rick Healey on Fri Jan 11, 2013 3:02 am

I apologize for this being a bit short notice, as we were busy hammering out the details and being sure that we could do it...

But Eric Kays (Interactivity Lead) and myself (Editor) are announcing a meet-up in New York City, NY for January 19, 2013 at noon.

The actual point of contact will be the Tim Horton's/Cold Stone Creamery at 253 West 42nd Street - within spitting distance of a major bus terminal and multiple subway stops, plus a very short walk from Times Square. We don't have to stay there, but that's where we'll first meet up.

I don't know for sure what exactly will happen (beyond being the first time I've actually met any of the other puppet masters in-person - I've just been a voice/text on the Internet for them all until this meet-up), but we'll be close to a major tourist area as well as Hell's Kitchen, one of the more interesting local neighborhoods (some interesting restaurants as well as the home base for Troma).

See a Fourth Wall Piece in person! My pokeymans, let me show you them! Find out if I can actually get my fist into my mouth! Figure out if you can find a foodstuff for sale that I haven't eaten yet!

Hope to see some folks there!

Ack! The 18th? Not giving me much time to plan this, are you? I'm pretty sure I won't be able to make this one. T_T
Normal people are the easiest to manipulate. Too smart and they have an annoying tendency to catch wind of your plans, too dumb and, in the words of a certain pirate, "You can never tell when they are about to do something incredibly...stupid."

Count me out, for obvious reasons.
I have attempted to suppress my inner hyperspace future gardener crying out against all the injustice I am committing.

*Sighs* :(
They sometimes say, "the place where I am right now was circled on a map for me"... Unfortunately, I kind of suck at orienteering.

Unfortunate that my first day back to class is the 18th. Unfortunate that this class is a 5 to 11 at night class as well :/

Maybe next time.
If you ever need to ask the questions "Am I needed? Should I help them?" The answer is always yes. Always.

I can't make it. New York isn't a hop skip and a jump from Missouri.

Yeah, I know that making it official as of last night (the date was floating around in the other meetup thread) is difficult.

The flip side is that for both Eric and I, it was tricky tarrange even that. My first child is due April 2nd, and most of my weekends between now and then are occupied with baby preparation - natural childbirth classes, infant CPR classes, stuff like that.

Meanwhile, Eric is similarly crunched for time due to film school. Frankly, I'm amazed he secured this weekend off.

I know the scheduling isn't the most convenient, but we are trying our best to meet up with folks.

Ack, major error on my part. I meant the 19th, that Saturday. This hopefully means that folks can, in fact, make it.

EDIT: OP corrected for correct date, this coming Saturday. My only excuse is that my brain has gone to mush.

Damn. I'm close, but I'm not likely to be able to make it.

I live way too far away to make it to New York, but I've heard ideas about a... sort of online conference or something? Where people who live too far can just use their webcams and be a part of the group. Would that still be possible?

Has anyone tried magic?
Dolphins are some of the smartest animals, yes, but by human standards… Let's say you should praise the god that forces them to stay handless and underwater.

Oh, if folks want to do a Google Hangout or something at some point, we can figure something out.

I'm just hoping that there will be occasions, like this weekend, where I can meet folks in person.

If nothing else, I'll try to convince Eric to pose with me in a rather devious fashion... maybe both of us doing an Evil Laugh simultaneously or something.
