Reflections on my 20th birthday.

So, as a lot of people know, the 30th of January (5 minutes left here as I type this) is my birthday, and I've just turned 20. I am officially into my third decade of life, so I've decided to reflect a bit on who I am, who I've been and who I might become, and of course, general life.

I've always been pretty successful in school, which has been helped, I feel, by my autism - truly a double-edged sword. I'm currently a second year criminology student in university, and I don't regret my academic choices, minus the fact that I could not study drama in secondary/high school. However, recently, I've begun to question if my future career belongs in the justice system as I always thought. Does it truly lie on the stage? As such, I have decided to audition for drama schools next year, once my degree is finished. This will mean either moving to Dublin, or mainland Britain. Am I ready for that? I really don't know. We'll see.

There's more I should probably add to this, but screw it, I'm exhausted. I'll write more tomorrow :P

Since I'm only 14, all I can say to you is... Well, do what makes you happy and you think will be good for you. I can't say much, unless wish you the best :) I hope everything turns out okay. Be happy ;) And once again, happy birthday! :D

A very happy birthday to you :D

I'd say follow your dreams, because that's the only truly honest answer I can give. You're a smart guy, I'm sure you can handle the terror that is the acting industry ;)

...Autism's helped you in some way? Huh. Asperger's Syndrome has been nothing but a burden to me.

I'm about to turn 17 tomorrow but all I can say is that you should choose the path you feel is right.

As for Autism, I have self-diagnosed Aspergers (but my sister and mum also think so) and it hasn't really affected me in school qnd life apart from being largely antisocial in parties and functions and being obsessed with films, tv and so forth

JR I would strongly advise getting an actual pro's diagnosis on that. Even if you're sure yourself, knowing for sure helps, in a way, to have it written down.

It's not the same, but I wasn't at all convinced I had dyslexia at the time, I just thought I wasn't very clever with some things and besides, I really liked writing and my spelling wasn'ty bad. I just went for the test because my tutor encouraged me to. Boy was THAT a surprise. Of course by that point I was pretty much adapted to the problem, but it was still nice to know.

Yeah maybe I'll look into that sometime this year.

I feel it has a lot of responsibility in my academic success, in regards to me ability to focus on and research the topics and subjects that really interest me.
