Digging back a little, you could define a grammar and use a finite state machine to parse the combinations. You'd require a set of rules for valid spell sentences, and could even have fun with the end result in case the combination isn't a valid one. Takes a while to design, but doing it that way you don't have to define each individual spell and would still be able to generate a system capable of handling up to however many potential results, depending on how complex you're willing to make the FSM.

Have I mentioned yet how hopeless I was at Pokemon when it was on GameBoy? I know I might've on chat, but that was a long time ago, and I've been reading something that brought back memories, so here's a quick rundown:

I sucked. Royally. And I was a little stupid. But all in the nicest ways, since I was only a child. For example, I had no idea that you could manually connect with another player in order to do battle. When I came across that 'battle with a partner' section in the Poke Center, my first thought was, "Cool, I get to travel with Misty or Brock now, right?" and I would sit there waiting for either of them to show up and they wouldn't (of course) so I would go back to their gyms and yell at them through the screen like a tool.

It wasn't until I was playing a game in an airport or something and this little boy comes up to me and asks me to battle him and he produces this magical cord that'll connect us and let us do that and I'm just like, "...God, I'm the stupidest person in the world I hope he doesn't notice," but he probably did because I didn't know squat and I'm an open book that comes with an audio recording and no mute button so of course he knew but he didn't tease me and probably remembers me as that little girl who he taught to play Pokemon properly and probably feels a bit like a genius mentor when (if) he remembers at all.
The voices in my head tell me that we saved the world. However, they also told me that George Clooney's face is on the dollar bill, so... meh. The voices are more fun, anyway.

If it makes you feel any better:

I have never once in my life played Pokemon with another person.

Maybe, if you even knew it was a thing. It's one thing to know you can play with another person and just never get to. I was kinda like that during my YuGiOh phase, most folks knew I had a deck and knew how to play, but there just weren't enough kids my age who wanted to play with the same level of single-minded eagerness that I had. Not that I was any good when I did get to play someone else, but since that isn't a video game, I'll leave it be.

Since I never got access to wifi, I've never played Pokémon against anyone else. I did once trade some Pokémons with a guy because they only evolved that way, so we traded twice the same Pokémon. I also never finished any Pokémon game. I played Red at school, Stadium 1 and 2 at a mall and I'm in front of Diamond's Victory Road for… Three years now?

With that said, I want to find a Pokémon Mod with ALL THE POKÉMONS. TvTropes has taken me to two, but one is all Pokémons up to Emerald and the other is up to Platinum, but the difficulty is Up To Eleven ._. I just wanna have Charizard and Torterra and other cool looking mons ;_;
Dolphins are some of the smartest animals, yes, but by human standards… Let's say you should praise the god that forces them to stay handless and underwater.

I've traded over wi-fi, but only through that impersonal bazaar thing (though I send letters with them because why not). The only person I ever played with properly was my sister, and she wasn't as good at it as I was. Except at the Stadium minigames.

So today I finally got Metal Gear Rising, and I've spent the last 4 hours or so trying to play it.

Fuck this game, fuck this game, fuck this game.

Fuck this game because the game sucks, or fuck this game because you can't figure out how to make it actually function?
So, apparently I'm the sanest madman this side of the international date line. Seems legit.

You could always take a break and play something like Journey or Flower. Those are easy-going and relaxing.

I've already 100%'d both of those.

Apparently the thing giving me grief (that fucking robot wolf) is officially considered a Wake Up Call Boss. The fact that this game has one of those less than three hours in says something.

Have you bought the dodge moves? They're not really necessary early on, but they help a TON in the Blade Wolf fight.

So, it turns out that I had misinterpreted the tutorial on parrying. Once I actually knew how to do that properly, Blade Wolf went down without much trouble. Mistral was a lot of fun.

*nods* That's what I'd ideally like to do - since the basic idea would be around building your own skill set and coming up with your own set of spells, flexibility such that there aren't really any "wrong" answers is key, especially since there would need to be a wide variety of runes available to write spells from.

Just finished watching Pewdiepie's Let's Play of the Last of Us. Kinda makes me not want to be taking Genetics right now.

So I finished watching an entire Burial at Sea Part 2 walkthrough.

And my reaction to the ending that wrapped up the franchise neatly was:

DAMMIT LEVINE!!!

Then...
WAAAAAAAAH NOOOOOOOOO!

And then:
Wait a second...YES! YES! WONDERFUL! AWESOME JOB LEVINE!

Bittersweet Ending, AND HOW!

But then, they wrapped up the franchise neatly, fixed most of the missing threads, and made sure that the circle would never be unbroken and keep on going and going and going...
