Is anyone out there familiar with the game Dark Cloud? it's about twelve years old now (shut up, I'm not old damn it) and I've been replaying it recently...

I've heard of it :) It's developed by Level-5, the same company that develops the Professor Layton games, which I like a lot. Also I've heard that they both have the same music composers, which is pretty awesome :3 Do you recall accordions? (So yeah, I've only heard of it through Prof Layton, but that counts right?)

Also you're as old as you feel ;)

Level 5? :D They did Dragon Quest VIII! Congratulations, you now have my attention. That is not an easy feat. :P

*Feels honoured*

dark cloud was one of those games that didn't have character levels. You could increase your defence and HP, and increase weapon power and fuse them but honestly, the fusing thing could hav3e been better done. It took way too much effort to get the really good weapons, and levelling your characters called for serous grinding because you had SIX of em' by the end and they didn't increase in power alongside game difficulty. v.v

That reminds me of Vagrant Story... *oh god the grinding*

Only one character though, but everything is based on Random Drops, Affinity Meters and Crafting. That or good enough reflexes to make 200+ hit-chains and get by on initial gear without getting hit once. :|

Can't deny that the Holy Win greatsword is kind of badass though. /Derail.

(RE-RAILS)
I watched a gameplay clip on youtube, never played Dark Cloud myself, but it looks like it's a fun game to play, even if it's a bit slow on the grinding.

That sounds like something I would waste hours of my life trying to achieve, for whatever insane reason I do these things. *glares pointedly at Dark Souls*

What game should I play next? On the table are The Walking Dead (which I have played through the first chapter), X-COM Enemy Unknown, and Half-Life 2 (in which I am almost to Ravenholm), or Deus Ex: HR (which I have played about 1/3 of the way through, but I'd likely restart it anyway).

The only one out of all of those that I've played is Half-Life 2.

...So, I guess I vote for that one?

Please Jack. I am begging you. Buy Magicka, the original. In fact, EVERYONE buy Magicka. It is SO hilariously fun, and I have been dying to play it with you guys for a while.

I would've gotten it during the sale, but my laptop is not very fond of the graphics. In fact, pretty much anything Paradox Games runs rather slowly without a dedicated GPU. They tend to be very CPU-Heavy, and with integrated graphics you need to spend CPU-Speed to run the graphics and then you don't have enough room to run the heavy AI (Strategy) or the physics (Magicka), so that means, no Magicka for me until I manage to get a new computer (That will take a while... :( ).

The problem with TF2 is that while the physics are impressive, the Source Engine is poorly coded and this can lead to problems.

In news related to absolutely none of the above, Neil Gaiman is writing a video game.

Which ending? You evidently get extra dialogue from Rucks in a New Game+.

See, you haven't beaten the game.

Play through the New Game+, THEN you'll have completed the story.

I rescued the guy, then I traveled the world.

Well, I'm playing through that now. :)

Am I allowed to be disappointed? Because up until I saw the announcement this morning, I'd thought based on his hints that he was making an ARG.
