Alright, people said this needed a thread, and so now it has one.
I've made a decision for now to start up a new session, open to all, with no RPing, since some of the former players aren't interested. It is going on line as I speak and I will start getting people into the game. I'll send out the login details to people on contact, since I don't really want random lurkers, if there are any, popping into the session.
So from here on, talk about the session here, and stuff like more item suggestions, and the like. I'll also leave notices to players here if I need to reach them all.
So, here we go again, diving into Sburb, but we are significantly less blind this time around, thanks to
the google doc Narradilly kindly created for our use, cataloging all of the recipes and codes we know. Use it freely, and if you find that you own something that isn't on there, please add it in the same format as the other items you find there. Also, if you have information about an item that is already on there, but has blank spaces, please fill the blanks in as much as you can. My OCD will thank you profusely.
Other than that, some general guidelines as we go into our session:
1. Prototyping: Nothing too insane power wise, please. From what I've seen of the combat, you don't need to be as cautious as we were previously, with sprites with only a couple of points of power, but don't go wild here, either. I'm trusting you on this. If you want a high number, it would be much appreciated if you could run it by me just so I know what is coming my way. Also, please keep to reasonable prototyping items this time around, people. That means stuff that resembles, is, or was a living being, and not silly stuff like books or fridges. It's not a huge deal, but keep in mind that you can't get away with that in a real SBurb game.
2. Grist: I will let you know if I need you to have a certain type of grist when i hand you the login details.
3. Server/client connections: I will ask you to make someone your client, probably based on what order you join in. Just go to Player ---> Info after clicking on the house icon in the top-left and scroll to the bottom of the sheet. There will be a list of people in the session and a box asking who your client is. Fill it in, and boom, done.
4. Building: On a related note to the previous one is building. Because of a new update, it is important that we get a connection ring going ASAP and get everyone build up past gate two of their house so that everyone has access to all the lands. Building is done in the same place you select a client. Once you have a client, just go to the place where the box was and there will be a box asking how much grist you want to invest in your client's house. This uses YOUR CLIENT'S GRIST, NOT YOURS, so make sure to either check with them, or send the grist you intent to use up to them before hand.
ALSO: Since the player data was lost, they are allowing you to essentially godmode your grist back with the dev console for a week. I would prefer not to do this, even though I lost my stuff, because it feels cheap to me, but if you REALLY want to, it is there, and I won't stop you. Just a mater of personal opinion on my part.
And that's about it for now. Have fun. I'll get to making that session.
(Note: The RPG is still probably on the table, we will just use a different session for that. This will actually make the RPG somewhat less grind heavy, as you can transfer stuff you need to your account on the RPG session from your account in the main one, if you absolutely do not want to grind.)
Normal people are the easiest to manipulate. Too smart and they have an annoying tendency to catch wind of your plans, too dumb and, in the words of a certain pirate, "You can never tell when they are about to do something incredibly...stupid."
