Actually "The Last Airbender" is the franchise name not just the name of the one show, they lost the "Avatar" franchise after James Cameron threw a hissy fit. I made this thread with the intent for anyone to discuss both shows

Seriously, Korra is part of the TLA universe. I suppose it would be like discussing the first few books in a series or simply concepts in the series without discussing the series as a whole. Not impossible, but needlessly restricting since the thread does say that it contains spoilers.
The voices in my head tell me that we saved the world. However, they also told me that George Clooney's face is on the dollar bill, so... meh. The voices are more fun, anyway.

You haven't watched it yet? I thought Nickelodeon had it on their website!
So, apparently I'm the sanest madman this side of the international date line. Seems legit.

I'm rewatching the first series with Tohr before I go watch Legend of Korra.

It looks like they're really gonna get into the mechanics of the Spirit World. They didn't really with the first series.

Well with the first series I think the mystery was part of the point of the spirit world, so I'm semi-cautious about actually exploring it since it could be really cool....or we could get something like Midi-chlorians

Light and Dark spirits... Oh well, so cliché :/
Dolphins are some of the smartest animals, yes, but by human standards… Let's say you should praise the god that forces them to stay handless and underwater.

What's the alternative though? Blue and Orange spirits?

Blue and Orange wouldn't fit with the Avatar universe, Everything compliments each other, not subtracts. White and Black may be over used, but I think the creators know what they're doing.

The problem isn't White and Black, the problem is that I think Light is Good and Dark is Evil is kinda dumb and overused, and that I wasn't expecting them to come up with that. Not saying they can't play it well, I'm saying I prefer Dark is not Evil and Light is not Good.

But maybe they could used Evil and Good spirits, or Yin and Yang spirits, IDK. :P

I believe that all light spirits will be good and all dark spirits will be bad about as much as believe I'm Superman. These creators have always gone the extra mile to show shades of grey, several times in the original series it is shown not everyone from the fire nation was evil and not everyone from the other three nations was good. Furthermore we dont know that those spirits that they fight in the trailer are in fact dark spirits

Considering that they've been using yin and yang as a theme for the show since its inception, I don't think they'll start now.
Take Koh, or Hei Bai. They were neither good nor bad, just as well developed as the main characters of the show. If they can pull that off with A:TLA, they can do so with LoK.

Yin and yang are a pretty good balance actually, as I don't think either of them are necessarily good OR bad. it's just about personality types.

It's like what I added to tv tropes the other day: NO trait is specifically bad, but it can either be used for it, or leaves the user open to being used. Good traits like kindness and compassion make you likeable and popular, but also leave you open to being manipulated, or getting too wrapped up in feelings to observe the situation. Boldness and determination can become soulless violence and stubbornness, etc...

I would personaly be a Water Bender specifically so I could achieve Blood Bending. The ability to control another person by controlling the water in their blood is, frankly, fascinating.

Alright, we have one last trailer before the new season people: http://my.socialtoaster.com/splash/RQsZ/

Among other things it looks like Korra is going to meet Zuko's daughter this season. Which means its possible she'll run into Zuko himself who is still alive and kicking according to Word Of God

I haven't said this before on this thread, but I just LOVE the music that both Avatar series gives us. It's breathtaking...
