Livestreaming Shenanigans!

Anything goes.

OK, if no one has any pressing objections, I'm going to begin the Dark Souls LP around noon central time, give or take an hour or so on Sunday. That is tomorrow in relation to the time of this post, and probably 'today' for a good number of the people who read it.

Advance warning will be provided well before the stream starts both here and in the chatroom.

OK, this is the time I gave for the stream last night. I'm going to start to set things up over here on my end, and wait and see who arrives. Blur is already present, but it doesn't look like anyone else is active. I'll wait around for a while and see what happens, so if you want to get in, just come on over to this link and let me know that you are there.

Final call for anyone who wants to show up to the livestream. Shane, Blur, and Wacky are all already here, and I am considering starting. If you want to get in, now's the time. http://www.livestream.com/mimsycon

Well, the session is now over. Did an hour and a half of playing, but since we couldn't get Mimsy summoned right away, we just ended the session. From now on, now that we are in coop areas, we will make sure to get the summoning working before the session starts so that we won't have any segments where you guys are waiting around watching us do nothing.

I'm planning on hopefully continuing my Dark Souls stream tomorrow, once again around noon central time, so that people in other time zones, like Rota and Scarab, can hopefully have an easier time of getting in. Is this a bad time for anyone?

Well see, I'm on vacation right now and I'm not sure what my parents' plans are at that time. So far it looks like we're not doing anything after dinner, but that might change :/
EDIT: Yeah, I'm not gonna make it :( Sorry Sicon >_<

So I've tried my best, but I really just can't seem to get procaster working for me. It won't run at all in game mode, and the lag and screeching on regular screen capture are TERRIBLE.

If anyone has any alternatives to procaster I'm all ears.

Um um. Um. May I humbly request someone to livestream Abe's Oddysee? :D :D :D It's a tough platformer (at least, I find it tough), for those who don't know. An old one, too.

Also, I'm probably getting Darksiders 2 soon. May livestream that and, if I do, you guys will get to decide what I equip or customise :)

They did Abe's Oddysee on Watch Out For Fireballs.

No, I am not going to play that thing.

I think that, if no one has any problems, tomorrow is a good day to continue the livestream of Dark Souls. If I do it about the same time as the others, noon central, are there any objections?

Well, that was quite the marathon. We revisited our old haunts at the Undead Asylum, talked with some people from last session, and ran around past our good friend the dragon to join the Warriors of Sunlight covenant. After that, we had a bit of trouble summoning, but it worked out eventually and Mimsy and I worked our way through Darkroot and killed both the Moonlight Butterfly and the Hydra. After that, we worked our way into the Undead Burg's lower section and fought the Capra Demon before heading into the Depths and defeating the enormous Gaping Dragon. If you want to check it out, video link is here, but as you can see, it was pretty enormous. If you feel like sitting through the whole thing, be my guests, but in case you don't, here is a quick list of where things happened.

[Note: Times are approximate, as there really aren't any sections to the video, just approximations of where sections would be.]

Listy McListlist wrote:
  • 0:00 - 44:30: Recap of what we did last time and what I was doing for grinding with the character in the meantime, followed by an encounter with the dragon on the bridge and my joining of the Warriors of Sunlight. Lotta talking, not much action.
  • 45:00 - 1:04:00: Exploration of the changes in the Undead Asylum, meeting some Black Knight buddies, and picking up shinies.
  • 1:04:00 - 1:11:45: Me attempting, on the chat's behest, to fight the new boss of the Undead Asylum, the Stray Demon. Not to spoil the ending, but... "attempting" is indeed the right word. A "badly" could also fit in there.
  • 1:11:45 - 1:25:15: Me wisely deciding that insanity is doing the same thing for the eighteenth time and expecting a different result, and going to meet a rather unorthodox trader NPC who also lives in the Asylum, nicknamed Snuggly the Crow by the fans. After that, I head to the next area, Darkroot Garden.
  • 1:25:15 - 1:40:00: A glimpse at the tedium of trying to summon a particular person in Dark Souls. If not a lot happened in the first part, almost nothing happened here, so unless you want to watch me snarking and getting increasingly annoyed with the internet, might want to skip this bit. Though, irony did throw a tree at me there in the middle...
  • 1:40:00 - 1:52:40: Now with Mimsy and more viewers, we begin to venture deeper into the forest, but follow a sidepath into Darkroot Basin and discover the Hydra, who, in a display of unsportsmanlike conduct, assaults us with huge blasts of water from its nine heads. So we did the only sane thing, of course. We ran straight at it and chopped off all of its heads one by one before Mimsy shot it with huge bolts of lightning.
  • 1:52:40 - 2:11:30: Mimsy and I head back out of the basin and into Darkroot Garden once again. We adventure through the woods and find many jerks, strange frog/manta ray hybrids, and the ring of Knight Artorias the Abysswalker, which I promptly equip.
  • 2:11:30 - 2:16:50: We encounter the self-taught Witch Beatrice, and she assists us in making sure the Moonlight Butterfly is violently, and for the sake of Scarab's sanity, quickly obliterated. After that, we quickly explore what was behind the boss area and head on back to the bonfire.
  • 2:16:50 - 2:29:50: General faffing about, talking about Dark Souls mechanics, and some leveling up with our new violently earned cash ensues. We then head off to the Lower Undead Burg, the key to which we found in our travels the previous session. After another encounter with our friend, the bridge dragon, we arrive.
  • 2:29:50 - 2:47:05: Mimsy and I explore the Lower Undead Burg, and then kill the Capra Demon, the boss of the area. Since he is a jerk, and since Mimsy needed to kill him to aid me in the next area, I got summoned by him and killed the Capra Demon a second time just for grins. We also meet another NPC creatively named the Female Undead Merchant, who has an unhealthy obsession with moss, iron bars, and dirty looking water.
  • 2:41:05 - 3:15:45: Mimsy and I journey into the Depths, free a man who somehow got trapped inside a barrel, and Mimsy falls in a pit and starts stabbing everything in the basement. Somewhere in there, we meet Domhnall of Zena, a very nice merchant who, despite his name indicating that he hails from some fantasy realm, is suspiciously Welsh. Then we kill a dragon. A Gaping Dragon. Wondering what the hell that is? Just watch the video.
  • 3:15:45 - 3:19:12: I make my closing remarks, talk about the bossfight, and give a tiny glimpse of the area we will be traveling to next time: Blighttown. A great name for a vacation spot, that.

Though, your reaction to that has been the best so far.

No Awha, but that was probably only because there was no-one to Awha to. Still, there's no false advertising in that name. I expected a Gaping Dragon and the game delivered :P Now if you will excuse me I am going to have nightmares about the hellspawn of Cthulhu and Clover.
