An unfortunate shame really.

Though that's true.
Still a part of me's hoping we could be a bit more active whenever Echo Chamber S3 comes about, seeing as that's pretty well related to how we all got together in the first place.

I hope when the next ARG comes (if it does come), this forum will explode again.

ARG's take time and planning, so I wouldn't be holding out for one.

I wrote a Bioshock fanfic with a friend. Feedback would be nice.

I'm now at a party for seniors of my college, meant to have a green-and-white 20s theme. I've two cups of spiked punch (though so lightly done I barely feel anything [if there's anything to actually feel, the bas'ards]) and yet, I SHOULD be working on the three papers I've yet to turn in.
Procrastination - it's a way of life.

Has anybody ever ordered a book online, then slowly suffered the combination of waiting time and excitement until you're checking the mailbox whenever you get the chance and praying desperately that it'll come faster?

I have ordered books online, but I've never felt like that. Maybe because nowadays companies claim a huge delivery time much bigger than the actual delivery time in case something goes wrong, so they don't get in trouble.

[WARNING: Rant and Slightly Gross Imagery Ahead]
*grumbles* I'm sick. From what, I'm not entirely sure, but it involves mucus and vomit. I'm currently lazing away my misery in an area of the house directly across from the kitchen. The bathroom is close, but around the corner, and the kitchen sink is closer. You'd think that the first instinct upon feeling the urge to puke would be to do so in the closest sink. You'd be right.
You'd also be reamed out along with me by my mother, because puking in the sink all over the dishes (that she left there) is gross and unsanitary (nevermind they were dirty dishes anyway) and that I should try my best to reach the bathroom sink that's twice as far. I did so later on, only to nearly puke all over myself because honestly? Purposefully holding mucus and vomit in your mouth for any amount of time is disturbing, uncomfortable, and only liable to make me puke harder. Which I did.
But hey, at least it was in the bathroom sink. Fuck me.
*sigh* I'm not really all that mad. I know she means well, plus she's sick herself. But I don't get it - she acts like I left vomit and mucus all over the fucking kitchen and had no intentions of cleaning up after myself. She acts like picking up dishes that she left in the sink herself is just so fucking inconvenient, and it was as if she said, "Ugh, you spit up all over these things! Now I'm gonna have to wash them!"
"...But, you were gonna wash them any--"
"THAT'S NOT THE POINT."
(That's basically how it went, just more childishly put on my mom's side. I'm biased, okay?)
But yes. Rant over, I'm done now.

Anything in particular that you need to have been keeping up with the current Marvel Film Continuity to understand?

I really liked it, although there's some stuff I'd criticise.
Also, I've been reading the Prelude Tie-Ins lately. I almost never got to read comics as a kid, so this new world is...pretty awesome.
I really like how they put in the original, brightly coloured 1940s-1960s comics, too.

Mostly just the first Avengers film and Captain America: The Winter Soldier (Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 are optional and don't really hold any weight)

I've seen the Avengers (multiple times, actually - the soundtrack is great), but I've yet to see either CA movie. I get that Bucky plays a big part in the second, though, due to Hydra shenanigans.

Both Cap films are pretty great. And yeah CA: Winter Soldier's pretty important, those HYDRA shenanigans end up being huge.

I didn't watch either CA movie, but I watched Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Does that work for the Hydra shenanigans?

I'd think it works better for SHIELD shenanigans. They explained how Coulson's alive in that series, didn't they?

Yup. But I haven't seen Coulson anywhere other than the first Avengers and that series, if I remember correctly.

If you can, watch the Winter Soldier. It's pretty much the MCU's Even Better Sequel.

Well, YES, that was bound to break the base and induce another Mob War, but it was better recieved, the Winter Soldier is ADORED and it is pretty much one of the saddest MCU movies.
That said, though, fans feel Batroc was kind of nerfed. And nobody liked Cap losing the stripes.

The Winter Soldier was pretty good, I thought. I particularly think it's interesting to contrast with Iron Man 2.
Following are some pretty inconsequential spoilers for both those movies, if anyone cares.
The thing about Iron Man 2 is that in the entire movie, I never got to see the ONE thing that I wanted to and expected to see after Iron Man, which was some development in Tony and Pepper's relationship. Not that I wanted the whole movie to be focused on that or anything, it's just that the way Iron Man ended, the one plotline I was interested in that didn't seem 100% resolved was the way those two crazy kids felt about each other. And yet the way they were with each other throughout Iron Man 2 was just so... disconnected. Like the emotional bond that had strengthened throughout the first movie had just disappeared. (The ONE scene Pepper appeared in during Avengers 1 pretty much gave me everything I wanted from Iron Man 2, by the way. I didn't need much, just some acknowledgment of the development those characters had gone through together.)
Now, at the end of Captain America, the one thing I really thought was interesting and wanted to follow up on was Steve adjusting to life in the 21st century. Particularly I kept thinking about all the years of cultural stuff he missed, the movies and music that have affected most people's lives in some way. Stuff like how not having seen Star Wars can shut you out of a conversation entirely, and he missed so much, and how would you go about assimilating into a culture that's been progressing for decades without your knowledge. And The Winter Soldier took care of that in the first FIVE MINUTES, with Steve actively listening to people's recommendations and keeping a list of stuff to check out and establishing that he's learning to use the internet in order to find things. It didn't bog down the movie, and the plot took off and ran in directions that had nothing to do with Steve's pop cultural education, but the filmmakers followed up enough on that thread to satisfy me and put me at ease before things got going.
So while Iron Man 2 bugged the ever living hell out of me, The Winter Soldier proactively got me on its side right at the beginning.

So I have issues about reviews of Age of Ultron. Mostly because it feels like people are crapping on a really good movie because there was already an Avengers 1. I don't know, maybe its just me as a fan who grew up reading the Avengers and I am just blinded by the fact I get to see my favorite characters on screen being amazing and hilarious. Part of me wonders if I am just too hyped and stuff to really see the negatives. However I also wonder if maybe this is the whole 'must be critical of everything' way that reviews and the internet are. I also wonder if Age of Ultron had come before the first Avengers movie if people would say the first wasn't anything special compared to A.O.U. I realize that would be impossible without a time machine, but its just a thought.

Well, for me, the movie lacked the epic feel the first movie had to it, but this movie has WAAAAAAY better character development for every person involved. I mean, all the arcs got better and better and better!
For the feminists on the very rabid end, not the moderate one, here's one thing.
Read the comics. Do the research. Do it before your rants or they'll make no sense and seem weird OR I'LL TEAR OFF YOUR EYELIDS AND SQUASH YOUR EYEBALLS WITH MY THUMBS AND FORCE YOU TO LISTEN TO EAR WORMS ALL DAY-Oh, did my rage side take over for a second?
Ahem.
Ah, it's gone now.
