Predicting Patterns (Well, trying to anyway).

I think this MAY warrant a new topic, but if not feel free to delete, guys. I’ve been trying to figure out some other time-based pattern to the characters appearances. I thought that maybe the time they were first created had some baring on when they emerged in our world. To the most part, I am not convinced this is the case anymore, but maybe if I put the list here somebody else might notice a pattern I've missed... if we can identify any trends then maybe it could help us with predicting what comes next.

The oldest character we have here is Don Quixote, published a whopping four centuries ago in 1605

Sweeny Todd (assuming it’s him) first appeared in a Victorian Penny Dreadful between 1846–1847

Long John Silver showed up in Treasure Island in in 1883, though it was first published in serial form in Young Folks magazine in 1881 and 1882

Cheshire Cat: first appeared in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, published 1865

Sherlock Holmes: first appeared in A Study in Scarlet in Beeton's Christmas in 1887

The Wicked Witch of the West showed up in the Wizard of Oz in 1900

Aaaand Hercule Poirot: first appeared in the Mysterious Affair at Styles, Published 1920

So... the characters don’t APPEAR to be showing up in literary order of creation, but they are connected by their influential nature. It’s certainly true that the oldest and most famous characters are emerging first. They ALL have multiple adaptations and intepretations to their name ranging from alternate stories in books, to stage shows, to movies. Almost all of them have been parodied or reimagined in some way, shape or form, and the latest character we have appearing so far is from no later than the 1920. They are also NOT defined by being out of Print or copyright. Poirot is still almost entirely under copyright aside from his first book. They also don't appear to be connected by genre, so there's no syaing some genres are slipping through mroe easily than others.

How long do you think until we get someone a bit more... modern?

I would tell you what I think of this, but I'm running a fever, I'm sleep deprived, and I haven't had my caffeine for the day. I can't even type right.

Anyway, my intuition is saying that there probably will only be the most famous characters involved in this. (META: They have to be sure that as many of the players as possible know them) As for whether a modern character shows up, it really depends on if they decided one was famous and well known enough, and they had a place for them in the plot. (There was Sparkly-Guy, but I'm still praying he wasn't what we thought he might be...)

Yeeeah, maybe you should go to bed, man, we like you healthy and not-feverish. <3

Yes, that makes sense. I hope I wasn't just repeating the obvious here...
And please god let sparkly guy be being chased by fairies. Please oh PLEASE let him be being chased by faries. No sparklepires, anything but that.

Ok. I know about widespread Twilight hatedom, and no, I didn't read it, but I have no idea what's so bad about a Flying Brick sans flight appearing IRL, other than that it's an insult to vampires. If he was hostile, we'd have heard about it by now.

Oh that was personal Twilight prejudice on my part due to my dislike of the text it has little baring on whether or not Twilight is actually relevant to this discussion, sorry. In reality, I'm actually far more worried about the possibility of daleks. heck at least with sparkly vampires we'd probably know them when we saw them...

In the words of Crispin Freeman, "Are there vampires in Twilight? I thought those were called fairies! I like fairies!"

Honestly, I think Twilight would've been SLIGHTLY improved if they HAD been fairies, at least then the sparkling thing wouldn't have seemed quite so rediculous.

That would be awesome. :gurt:

a pattern I saw is the use of *.ezblog.co and @TheReal*, in which the *s are different. The first is just the blog server the puppetmasters are using and the latter is how the twitter accounts are registered.

Do we need to find a website called "Thereal(X).ezblog.co?" X can be replaced with a head figure.

Actually Don uses TheTrue. And hey Vic, you need to do your intro on the RP thread.

It's just for meta-reasons. All the character twitters are probably occupied by now, and ezblog.co conveniently doesn't accept new blogs. :gurt: Poirot's blog stands out, though.

For some reason I've just thought that your Isaac avatar would look nice with a movie!Bane mask.

And Poirot's blog is on Wordpress... I don't really think this is relevant, otherwise we could just brute force our way to at least a couple of characters.

Don't worry, there's no rush, we're still waiting for BluEBoy's intro and not many of us are online. When everyone's intros are done, Xana's gonna post to close the entries.
