Uh... so you are disabling the post counter function. I'm not sure I get WHY... I mean, we made a few jokes about it in off-topic and edits, but it was only for minor, momentary amusement. I'm not really sure what justifies the bother of going in and turning it off... I don't think anybody actually cared about it in the first place. I certainly didn't.

I was just using it to see when I was due a new avatar, but whatever.
The voices in my head tell me that we saved the world. However, they also told me that George Clooney's face is on the dollar bill, so... meh. The voices are more fun, anyway.

I'm guessing the post counters can only handle so many digits and we would have eventually broke them.

Amusing. According to Joe, though, the huge numbers under our names were scaring newbies. Not sure why they thought that. Like I said, why would it matter? I am kinda annoyed at Joe's implications that we should stop speculation and such. That's pretty much all I can DO, you know. I'm not suited to much else than using my brain here, guys. I just think things and post stream of consciousness to hopefully help you all reach whatever you are trying to find at the moment.

I'll be honest, the only reason I ever mentioned post count was to annoy you =p

I was just amusing myself with a couple of joking comments. I even specifically said that's what I was doing at the time. It was just the two of us playing a little game while we were getting things done.

You can always just go to your user control panel window. It still lists how many posts you have there, and if they remove that too, it still will list it if you do a blank search for posts by a user. That's why I was a little confused about the whole thing; it really is pointless.

If they were referring to me when they said people were more bothered about post-counts, I'll be kinda annoyed. I think i mentioned it twice at the most.

I only mentioned it about ten times, and I was very clear (or thought I was) that I was screwing around every time, so...

Well, assuming the whole "5 minutes of action" thingie to mean what it looks like, it appears to me that my little exploit earlier was something they actually liked?

Well, if I can dabble in pattern recognition maybe I can find more stuff, but no promises there.

At least at the end he acknowledged breaking into the therapists voicemail was illegal.

i think that was more of a jab at the idea that it was... he can't directly say it's not a real voicemail because of suspension of disbelief.

also this is getting really off topic.

I knew it would. That's why it IS in Off Topic. In any case, we are discussing the update related to this change, which is still pretty on-topic by our standards.

Also, if it was a jab, it was in bad taste. They KNOW it was illegal. Excuse us for trying to stop our fellow players from getting a criminal record.

Well, they made it so only the profile owner could see. My dry search method still works fine. And yes, I'm saying that because I'm testing to see if they are indeed reading this thread and countering every idea I come up with. I have no idea why the hell they would DO that. Again, it seems like a colossal waste of effort, but whatever. To each his own.

Noticed that, did you? You can even sort by posts. See, this is the source of my confusion. This little demonstration shows that if there actually WERE people who cared more about post counts than the ARG, which is what they seem to think, this wouldn't slow them down at all.

Anyhow, point proven, time to move on. I think I'ma go try out Guild Wars II as soon as the installation finishes. I'll let you guys know how good it is. Probably mention it on the Coffee Shop thread though, so as not to derail anything else.

I PM'd Ed about the "members" page - he is working on it. :)
I'm kind of glad that they removed the counts, though. They actually were Serious Business for me. If they removed them sooner, I'd still be 3rd biggest loudmouth here. :( Now that they're out of the way, I can finally find something else to be upset about. :P

And, well, yeah. That "5 minutes of action" is just plain cruel to fellas like me.

Why are you TRYING to make more work for him anyway? The point of this thread is that it's SILLY to do all this stuff! *facepalm* I wasn't trying to help give the poor guy MORE stuff to do...

This is pretty much how I felt. I didn't have the excuse of being across the ocean when the Virginia Beach riddle was still in play, but I didn't have the means to go looking for it. Made me feel like a useless lazyass.

Whoa, guys, obviously speculation is fine. More than fine. Great. It's like...half the reason we have the forum, and half the reason we've gotten as far as we have. But sometimes there's stuff that has to get done, and we have to do it. Speculation should feed action, not JUST more speculation. That's all Joe meant.
