It's like...half the reason we have the forum, and half the reason we've gotten as far as we have. But sometimes there's stuff that has to get done, and we have to do it. Speculation should feed action, not JUST more speculation. That's all Joe meant.
Sorry if it came across wrong, but you appeared to criticise everyone, when some of us CAN'T help if we want to.
Likewise, sorry if I sound jerkish it is in no way my intention.
I get annoyed with myself for not being able to participate more as well (and then not having anything useful to give when I can), but it's not always possible for a variety of reasons (for one things posts seem to keep happening when the UK folks are asleep which is obviously unavoidable because of time differences). It's tough, but we all do our best to contribute however we can. Sometimes speculation is really all we have to do, especially when we don't have any other physical evidence to work with at that moment. I guess we get carried away sometimes.
Still giving us MORE tasks would... yeah I can see how that too would be problematic because there's so much going on ALREADY.

We actually don't know that things are confined to the states right now, but yeah. I'm not saying everyone needs to be a Meta-Knight, but as Meta-Guards, we need to be able to toss out suggestions for tangible action and not just talk about maybe possibly acting sometime in the future :{P
You guys are awesome, Joe and I obviously wouldn't be nearly as knowledgeable about his situation without you all, and, frankly, we're both convinced that you guys will help him feel safe again (at the very least).

We're here to help, and we'll keep doing our best to do so. (Wish I was more useful than I am, but hey, we're all doing our best. Any one of us could make a difference in any number of ways, as Adell's signature says: the answer is always yes.)

OK, I get the message, Ed. I understand you were not trying to insult us, but it could certainly be interpreted that way, which was what I was pointing out. That, and the remarkably silly amount of work you put into removing post counts. (BTW, there are still like eight different ways to find out. For instance, you currently have exactly fifty posts at the time of this writing. Grats.)

Lol. Whenever a rule is imposed, people will immediately search for a way around it.

There's probably a life lesson in all this and I am quite determined not to learn it. Rules breaking (well, a Wall but you know, it's like a big, metaphorical wall in a way) is what got this whole crazy thing started in the first place.

First, yes, yes they will. That was the third point this whole thread was supposed to make. Secondly, Scarab, you are already IN Off-Topic. ^_^

Uh... I knew that. Totally knew that. Yeah. *coughs in an extremely unsuspicious way*

Well, this is pretty much over... But I'd just like to point out that I understand why the removal of Post Counts, at least from the user panel in the posts themselves...
I've been a lurker everywhere for a long time. It's kind of a unspoken rule that Higher PC means Higher weight of opinion, meaning, some random bob with 10 posts under their belt, usually, won't feel confortable disagreeing with a 1k+ like Sicon, for instance.
Sure, we, the "veterans", don't really care about that on this specific forum, but for the newcomer, it can be intimidating.

I sorta thought of that, but the idea of that seems a tad silly to me anyway, since we have made it clear (I hope) that anyone is welcome to say what they are thinking as long as they aren't insulting someone else or breaking the other nine rules of the forum. Well, it's not that big a deal.

Although this seems pretty much settled, I would like to agree with Sicon. As a group you all were very friendly and inviting (certainly the warmest welcome I've recieved in quite some time.) and I hope none of my fellow new members felt dicouraged by something as simple as post amounts. After all, what is the forum for if not discussing what is going on?

It's true enough, but some may treat it as a race to say more meaningful things than the others.

Has anyone realized that the day on which we have joined is still visible? And that that could scare away new people just as easily? It doesn't make sense. (I know I'm bumping, and I'm sorry. I just wanted to say that I guess

)

Not as much as big numbers. People are too lazy to actually calculate the time each poster has spent on the forum.
