Basically you can catch only the first pokemon you find in a location, and you're not allowed to use a pokemon again if it faints.
Pretty tough x)

(And there are about 650 I think)

I saw one where you have to release a pokemon if it faints.

Wow, tough...
They sometimes say, "the place where I am right now was circled on a map for me"... Unfortunately, I kind of suck at orienteering.

Yeah, it's kinda like that, but instead you keep em in a box, cuz you might need them for HM's.
And you have to nickname the pokemon (to develop bonds, and surprisingly, it kinda works :P)

(I personally like the concept, but the games are a bit dull and the show sucks)
About 648 individual species.
And I think the one that you reffer to about release when fainted is a 'Nuzlocke' challenge. Not very hard if you have a good team.

There's also another I saw, where you only use the first six pokemon you get.

The first three were not that bad, I enjoyed how they depicted the battles. It's mostly just the 4th and 5th generations I don't quite like.

I liked all of them, but I preferred 3rd gen, cos I played it on an emulator at 10x speed. Made it much easier to level.

Hoenn is the best in my opinion. It was just such a change from the first two. Infact, my username is that of a Pokemon which was first introduced in that region.

Tropius is ok. But Absol is the 3rd gen lord. A disaster premonition? Make that my favorite.
