Yeah, you'll have to get used to those. It's not very difficult, really - just head to the Coffee Room and forget everything you know about reality and the time/space continuum.

It's a bit tricky to explain but... basically, while we're pretty much acting as we would in Real Life here, we're also trying to behave in a way that implies this whole ARG is a real event we're dealing with. So when we get all worried over Cinderella vanishing, or Don Quixote attacking a power plant, even though said characters aren't REALLY doing such things, we're acting In Character, see?
So essentially we're... playing ourselves as if we were characters (which explains the chaos that goes down in the coffee room and while msot of us are mostly just being ourselves, there's a little leeway.
