From now on, just message me in the NaNoMail function. We are already listed as buddies on the site. Anyhow, I'll get to this whenever I get a chance, which will probably be tomorrow afternoon. Gotta get over writers block and get this post done.

You can upload an *excerpt*, under "Edit Novel Info", but it has to be copy-paste.

Victin: This line confused me haha. "She nodded in disagreement". I'm intrigued by the second-person perspective. I like the 'your story' thing. And no quotation marks for dialogue too. It's a good start, quickly introducing the second character. Good job so far

So I have this really threatening line for my main villain when he is first introduced but I want to make sure it is evil enough.
Context: The Hero has been fighting demons for the last several days and operating on no sleep. He responds to a demon call and gets jumped by about ten strong demons and the demonic version of him. The main villain appears stepping out of an orb of darkness.
"Aw and now I see before me the annoyance that has caused my operation so many headaches" he delivers a swift kick into my gut shattering at least two of my ribs like glass. "Honestly I am just not that impressed, I figured this angelic hybrid that had been killing so many of my men would be a bit... what is the word I am looking for?"
"Tall, older, not a total loser, it is a long list to pick from boss" the demon in the black armor answered with a note of black humor in his voice.
"Yes I suppose so, anyway I have done all of this so I could meet you Jake... can I call you Jake? Oh who cares I am going to anyway, now I am going to give you one chance, stop, desist, and I might consider not killing you the next time we meet, remember there is only one of you, but I am Legion" the entirety of the gray otherworld seemed to be consumed by black flames as the demons power took form. "And I am MANY" he turned and left along with his minions. It was another twenty minutes before I could stand, and after that another hour before I could stand the pain of healing myself...
So what do you guys think?

I like it, Xana. Powerful opening. Oh wait... a villain... I knew I'd forgotten about something.
So I have to ask guys, the important question: which species of Wrimo are you?
http://www.nanowrimo.org/en/nanovideo/w ... olandscape Me, I'm the Panicker, only a far more rare and overreactional breed than that example.
Well you may have seen the
only bit I have so far as it's up on my novel page, but this is all I have so far:
When it eventually came down to it, the world didn’t end with a whimper or anything even close to resembling a bang. It just sort of... happened.
On the plus side, at least this meant that nobody was left pointing at the sky, or a book, or a scientific journal of some description and smugly saying ‘I told you so’. Which wasn’t much of a plus, really, but while your world was ending, you took what little positives you could find and rung the last drop of hope out of them.
Although, happened wasn’t really the right word for it either. It didn’t just happen, it became. The world was lifted out of being and changed, like a child with an infinite crayon had scribbled everything out, leaving behind only the blackness of twigs in the forest and the dim white of a now empty sky. The world stopped being what it had been, and became something else entirely. That something else was a great deal smaller than what it had been before.
Millicent sat on the doorstep of her home, in the very last town that existed in the entire world, and watched the white ravens peck at a dead rat lying in the gutter.

I have a question: I didn't manage to register my word count in time yesterday, what do I do?
Also, tomorrow I'll be busy, so I probably won't write much. I want to know if it's better for me to write it today, and let my RPG post for tomorrow, or write my RPG post today and write tomorrow. Any thoughts?

It doesn't really matter if you update every day; plenty of people just register their total word counts one or two times throughout the months.
Of course, if you're obsessive like me, and want your Stats graph to be perfect and accurate, then change your timezone to somewhere where it's still yesterday, then update your wordcount, then change your timezone back. (I only know this because the wifi connection where I was living last year was terrible, so I'd often reach my wordcount by 10 or 11 at night, then have no internet access to update it until about 9 the next morning. So I found a workaround.)

As much as I like novels, I can't wait for this month to be over, since these novels seem to consume you guys.

@Finch. The month is only beginning!

The novels didn't even get to our souls yet!

I can't wait for this month to be over. Having to finish 1667 words a day is tiring and its only the second day.

It gets easier. By the time the madness sets in around the end of the second week, you'll find your fingertips twitching even when there's no keyboard, your mind spewing story onto every available surface. Then the madness starts to fester around the third week, as your characters climb out of your head through your ears, lock you up in your basement and begin writing their own story, for you, pausing only to alternately feed you or beat you.
I get special permission to have the madness early. That is why this post is mad.

I used to be able to do that. I used to not write characters, but have them tell their stories to me. I used to. But somehow I lost the touch

now I work on pure logic.

I used to feel that, too. *sigh* I miss it...

It depends on the character, people.
If you think of creating "plot" you'll be logical and suffer through it.
Now... If you have a character and get the feel for him/her... It does wonders! You can still get into the zone, just believe it!

I'm starting to wonder if I should junk the story I've got and write about my mutant apple crisps instead.
They seem to have developed a life of their own.

Mutant apple crisps? How did you get that?
Well, people, it's day Three here, day Two for most others. How are we holding up?

Well, I got 2,511 words and I on't be able to write today. I'm almost sure I won't do it on time, but I'll keep writing anyways.

Day 3 is still time to restart from scratch if you absolutely can't progress in your current story. But brave through it! You'll be able to come up with something.

I'll try to write something. If I can't keep with this story, I'll start from the scratch like a crazy old man.

Ugh, I wanna get something out of this story of mine, even in the midst of this work I gotta do, but I can't think of a name for my male protagonist and it's driving me nuts. I want it to be uncommon but not weird, and the same for his last name. He's a special guy, and people will turn heads when they hear his last name, because no one's heard it for so long, so it can't be something mundane like 'Connors' or 'Jacobs' or whatever. Help?
