^_^ Huzzah! Like I said, the movie is awesome, but you need to have read the VN. I need to go watch Carnival Phantasm myself. I'm a bit behind with stuff becomes of this ARG.

Anyhow, sorry about the derail there.

Don't be. I know I'm not. We can just re-rail once someone has something to say about the NaNoWriMo.

Um... er... everyone at my workplace thinks it's completely crazy to expect somebody to write 50000 words in a month?

I don't think they're writers...

Last contest I got into, I entered about 24 hours before the deadline date. Luckily it was a smaller story contest, so I only had to write about 12 thousand words in that time. If I can do that without being a regular writer, I'd say they are just wimps. ^_^

EDIT: I also won. It was a small contest though.

Well I have to say it more politely because I work with them, but yeah

I know one person who did nanowrimo in a week. She does say it was one of her worse stories, though...

I imagine it would be. If I wrote a story in a week, it would probably SUCK. As long as I get enough time to think about what I want to happen before hand, I can sit down and get a ridiculous amount of work done at once. Course, there is a really long planning phase to it, but it just LOOKS like I write all of it then. I find it easier to avoid writer's block that way, since I don't have time to think about anything while writing.

I get the feeling though... But that's because I have no sense of Word Count at all. Brazilians judge text length by number of pages... So 50.000 seems quite daunting. Then I find out that this is about 80 pages. Not hard enough to inspire fear, though I can't get caught up in research and forget to write, or else there's not enough time.

Someone who has something to say about NaNoWriMo:
2 things: First, if you're going the fight scene route, even if it is bad writing, you should try hamming it up. NaNo's all about quantity, not quality-- you can fix it all later.
And second, you probably won't have to resort to ninjas, unless you want to-- there are all sorts of prompt-of-the-day things to suggest something to get you writing.
Idea: we should have a prompt-of-the-day here, to incorporate a great line/thing/whatever from the ARG. First person to suggest in this thread each day?
Lead by example. Get lost in a swamp.

Yes, it seems a lot more managable when you look at it that way.

Me I have only done nano once, but I didn't plan then and be darned I'm no going to start now. I've had horrendous writers block lately, anyway... the ARG and the new RP will hopefully help me get over that a little.
Which reminds me, I wodner if it's my turn yet...

You know... If I do fight scenes like this one, I don't think I'll need a plot to complete the NaNoWriMo.
Here's the Word Count

No. No you do NOT. That was f*cking awesome. I'm USED to my brother doing that, but DAMN man! Are you sure you haven't been writing in English all your life?

:D

It's been about 5 years since I started writing only in english. Unless it's something for school/college or a note for someone here, in which case it has to be in portuguese. :D That's why I said earlier that I feel more confortable writing in english.

Me too, actually, but no way in hell it's happening this year, what with early college application deadlines coming up.

So does this mean you read the massive post of doom?

Do it! Do it! (both of you)

We should really make a prompt-of-the-day thread here once November starts, if this many of us are participating.
Or just devote this thread to prompts.

Sorry, but not this year. There is no way I would be able to do anything then. I'm already spread pretty thin as is. I'd be glad to edit stuff for people who do and give help as best I can, though.

We can keep this one. No need for another... I can rename it (I think?) if necessary to NaNoWriMo discussion. Just so it's still fit to use it after november starts... And besides... I don't think we'll be doing that much posting in Novemver. =P

Also, Kariese. Yes, you should join us. ;)

I could give you a 10k word fight scene I wrote for another contest...

I was playing some random MMO game that was based on the Gundam franchise. The only reason I was playing it was BECAUSE it was based on an anime franchise, but it was also very well made. Anyway, they had a contest saying to write a story about you fighting your "ultimate rival". My brother and I decided to be each others rival and wrote a two part story, one part from each of our POVs. I took the Well Intentioned Extremist based vaguely on Char and Lelouch, and he took the typical Hero character, then we deconstructed all of it and left it unclear who was really right and who was wrong.

Of course, that was just to make us win the contest. We really just wanted to write a huge Gundam space battle. Maybe I'll post that for you guys sometime.

Okay the story takes place during WW2 after D day. Squads of American soldiers are disappearing after being sent on missions. This is the work of a group of vampires lead by an ancient one known as Baron Noctarious who have pledged his allegiance to the Axis forces (they are willing to offer his people a ready food supply in return). Against these forces the Allies have to create a special squad of people in order to take them down. They manage to find five people to join their cause. These are the main characters

Cain Firstborn(Alias: Bloodmancer): No one knows where this man came from or where he was born. What they do know is that when it comes to killing vampires he is unrivaled. His soul is no longer tied to his mortal body. Instead he claims that his soul is now in his blood, which allows him to control it inside his body and out. He can make his blood into the form of weapons that harden to become as strong as diamond. If a single drop of his blood enters an opponent's body he can make their blood an extension of his, and control or absorb it.

Daimon Steigner(Alias: Signer): A rather quiet young man who comes from New York. He was born with the symbol of a cross on his hand. A single touch of this symbol to the body of a creature of the night and they will burst into pure white flames. He lost both of his parents when he was young to a group of rogue vampires who were destroyed by their own carelessness. He now lives every day of his life following one single goal, to destroy every last vampire he comes across.

Margaret Namois(Alias: Silverclaw): A rather loud and energetic soul Margaret is born from a long line of werewolves who have made themselves natural enemies of the vampires. She has the speed and strength of a person three times her size and with training from all across the world she knows how to best use it. When the moon is out she can summon various forms of her monstrous half. When the full moon comes out she can become a full werewolf and call upon the power of her ancestors to become a force not many can defeat.

Noel Le Fay(Scarlett Massacre): A sweet and kind girl off the field of battle, and an absolute monster on it. She is said to be an ancient descendant of the witch Morgan Le Fay. She can call upon the natural powers of the Earth and destroy entire battalions by herself. Her magic is kept sealed by a collar around her neck allowing her only enough power as her teammates allow her to use. Otherwise they wouldn't just have dead enemies, but most likely entire cities and towns destroyed by her reckless use of her powers.

Together they make up the Freak Force. Their mission: hunt down the Lord of the Vampires and put him to rest before his forces and their dark magic destroy the world as we know it.
