Taking Off.

Anything goes.

Taking Off.

I'm leaving this site. There is too much to keep up with. I will check on this site every now and then for more WTF videos coming up though.

Why do you do this pepole? Just stop going Sicon-Mode and trying to read everything and you can still be active and kicking and helping us... When you leave for real it makes us sad...

Well if Spades wants to go that's up to him, but yeah, while it's defintiey crazy hard to keep up thats why we started labour divisions in the first place. Just try and help out where people can. People don't have to be constantly inputting useful information ALL the time and the more people we have the better.

I've been having the thoughts, too. There's so much to do, and I can't decide where to dig next, and while I am digging, I'm missing out on something else, and actually getting out IRL to do something is too much effort... Basically, the story of my life. :(
I can't bring myself to leave, but I gotta admit, I'm not as useful as I used to be.

I want to leave for good every even hour. Then I remember the Coffee Room, The TWO RP threads I'm in and the odd puzzle I can help solve (yay for sense of priorities!) and then I decide to stay. I can still keep track of everything as it is now, but once I start doing other stuff outside the forum, I'll just limit myself to the RPs and a couple of ARG developments/Characters...

None of us can do everything, that's the thing. I'm finding it very hard to keep up with most of the topics, threads, and the RPs (being in a completely different time zone so a lot of the good stuff goes on without me doesn't help) but I like to think I've still made contributions, and there's a lot of fun stuff I wouldn't wanna miss.

I think it's better to try and focus on one or two aspects or characters and try and keep up to date with them while asking for help from others if there are any facts you're unsure about or you need specific information. There's nothing wrong with getting stuff wrong now and then because you couldn't absorb EVERYTHING. Heck, isn't that WHY we divided into focus groups in the first place? Sure this leaves us a little confused now and then but also means we're more likely to be able to provide help in those specific areas, while still contributing to other things on the side. Its easy, for example, to hop overt o Cheshire's thread and help with the odd riddle while focussing on what's happening with the therapist.

Keeping up the endurance for this game long term is... yeah, it's not going to be easy, and we all have lives to live, but I feel as if we have to push to finish the story we began with. I like to hope it's all going to be worth it.

I'm not a part of the local offtopic stuff. Too fast and too wacky. And the on-topic information we have is a mess. If I try to organize it locally, I will officially have even less than no life.

You have officially discovered my secret. I have no need of a life.

But yeah, even I'm getting swamped here. Every time i come back to the site I have a minor freak out at how much you guys have left for me.

Oh, I've suddenly had an epiphany on my situation: playing the ARG used to be more fun than real life, and now they are kind of the same.

O.o That's bad. It's still fun here, but it doesn't really take that much to be more fun that constant schoolwork and college applications...

...Maybe you should sit down.

Seriously though I get what you mean, the ARG is great fun and all but... time consuming and it sometimes feels like more pressure than fun. It's great to be invvoled and there's a certain delight in finding answers, and the people of course are great fun to interact with, but how long can we all keep this up?

 Are we bitching?

The story will go on as it means to go on, and whether I'm along for the ride or significantlly pushing things, I don't know, but I like to think I'm helping in what little ways I can, even though it's really hard to keep up and the timezones kill us and sometimes it feel as if we're not getting anywhere fast at all. I guess maybe that's because we can't skip the parts that they would in an actual story we were just casually observing, (no thirty second scientific fingerprint analysis with attractive background music for us, folks, nope, we have to go through the whole five hours of trying to work stuff out before getting to an answer. CSI this ain't.) Hell, we're none of us heroes or protagonists we're just a bunch of people playing a game and trying our best to win it...

Although some might argue that's the deifnition of a protagonist. OT: My tutor at uni always said that a storym any story is "About somebody who wants soemthing and has trouble getting it" ... We're certainly having trouble.

Anyway tl;dr: I hope everyone sticks around, I'm sure things will pick up and everyone is important.

Well, there is no way I'm leaving this place now, so I hope you guys stick around too. I mean, if Dryu leaves, how will any of you guys understand my theories? Who will modify the metaverse model so it's up-to-date?

I actually haven't updated the model. And the Q&A (he did have a follow-up, after all). As I said, I'm slacking off badly. And, mind you, I'm slacking off while actually following the forum all my waking time. :(

Maybe slack and distract yourself with other stuff? It may leave us missing you, but it might help you get back the enthusiasm :)
I suppose it's like how at first some times when we get into things, it seems really awesome, but then after some time when you've been spending all your waking hours on it, it begins to get stale.

A good suggestion. I've been playing Guild Wars 2 while I'm away from here, and that is going pretty well. I quite like the game.

Then there is always the fun of the Coffee Room and the RPs. Dryu, you've already joined the second one, maybe you should just hang out in off-topic more. It does help you relax.

That is true. A few hours of coffee room mayhem can really improve your mindset and help you relax. You should go there.
And you're in the Black Knight RP. Hop in the discussion thread and talk about it... Comment on the characters of the others, or what you'd like to do with yours, improve your RP skills...

Being useful all the time gets tiring very fast.
