Character Trope Suggestions

Come on, guys, I've been asking for a while for my tropes to be edited now. At least tell me what's wrong with the ones I'm asking for, if you've got any problems.

Speaking of character pages, I'm, ah, very tempted to add a section for the GMs to that page. Though maybe we should run that by them first...
Plus we'd have to figure out how to do it: One section for all of them? One per person? Entries with tropes their sock accounts displayed? Only tropes they displayed since the endgame? Tropes they displayed amongst each other on their end, presumably suggested by each other in much the same way we've been doing for us?

That might be interesting. I'd say a folder for the GMs. One header for each one, but not the sock accounts. That can be noted on their description as "Interacted on the forums under the account X". Which tropes to add would be a question of them suggesting it... Or, well, since they're the GMs they should add the tropes to each other about stuff that went on behind the scenes.

@Endless: Very well, I decided not to add that frikkin' massive wall of tropes myself because A) They're personality traits and B) not all that evident here, except for the extreme insistence on having them added. Which would be a demeaning thing to add and I'm against doing that. You already have 10 tropes in there, which is more than the average of the players and way more than the characters themselves have! So yes, in my personal interpretation, those tropes will not be added. No matter how many times you post them. I'll of course, not stop anyone from doing so if they feel it's adequate, nor delete anything without contacting the troper in question to discuss it. So no worries there.

I feel it would be far more productive to focus on trying to locate at least a couple of tropes for the people who have none, along with memorable quotes for those who don't have anything in their piece yet, and of course, the characters which REALLY need more love. So, sorry Endless, but I personally won't attempt to work on your section before those other tasks are done.

I've been thinking the same thing, and brought it up in chat, but never acted on it.

I figure we assign tropes based on their behavior and confessions in the post-game, also listing what characters they played, etc...

Well, one obvious concern is the number of YMMV tropes on the Character page. I have a dream of seeing absolutely no orange dots on any of the The Wall Will Fall pages.

I do think it'd be best to stop requesting others add tropes, and also cut tropes that have nothing to do with the game (I know for a fact that none of you are actually packing weapons that matter in this ARG; I didn't launch Weapon Of Choice all those years ago so that folks could just cite it for their favorite weapon). Folks have troper pages (or can make ones) if they want to add what they feel represents themselves; the page for the game should describe what's in the game.

Also, Adell's rule isn't necessarily the best one. If a character demonstrates the same trope in their original universe and in our game, it makes sense to cite them for that in both. For example, Cheshire Cat gets cited as Perpetual Smiler in both (well, up until OOC Is Serious Business got invoked in the ARG). However, Poirot was not the Big Eater in our game that he was in the original canon, so he wouldn't get cited for that.

In short, add the tropes that actually happened in the ARG, be it for the characters or the players.

I suppose this thread has lived up to its end point now, though I'm not requesting a lock (yet, at least).
But since the ARG is over, it's time for a revision of the material in there. And like Rick points out, there are things to be cut. It does not exclude, however, the possiblity of new tropes being found from reading the archives later on, so don't cry that much over it.

We should probably have a new thread to discuss the revision, or, failing that at least take it to the discussion of the TWWF pages in general, after all, everything deserves some polish.

Just made a modification, as I feel the example under Ascended Fanon on my tropes page just didn't fit, as it was citing something that should happen naturally in an ARG, namely, that the players interaction with characters effect things. It was more aptly a Chekhov's..... something, but then it wasn't ever planned from the first, so....

Well, anyhow, I just modified the description to reflect a related event (my title) that better fit the trope. It's 1AM and I don't know if I'm being stupid, so that's up to you all to decide. If you don't like it, just mess with it till you do... Night.

Bookworm, Sir Swears a lot and Comically Serious for me. Because according to the people who are in the chatroom at this very moment, I am.

As well as that, You Wouldn't Like Me When I'm Angry, Hair Trigger Temper and anything to do with being bullied from the start of being born or feeling everybody hates me.

Reasons:

Bookworm: He appears to read a lot

Sir Swears a lot: He uses a lot of swear words, to the point that the Metaguards find it annoying.

Comically Serious: According to some people in the chat room.

Hair Trigger Temper: He has a very bad temper and often flies into anger.

You Wouldn't Like Me When I'm Angry: He rages, swears, yells at Metaguards, goes on killing sprees on the internet and types in caps when he's angry.

I'll still wait on requesting a lock because of one condition to add tropes: Link to the Archives of the ARG (Forum posts, twitter interactions) with evidence of the trope.
And I'll note that, just because you snarked 1 single time and linked to that post it'll not make you have Deadpan Snarker, for instance. Consistency should be one really big factor.
