Nitpicking here, but it's actually a kind of dagger. But yeah could be deliberate.

The others aren't all so apt, though, which makes me question whether it's a theme. A quick investigation via some probably-not-entirely-accurate websites shows me that Roxy is a diminutive of Roxana, meaning 'bright', or 'dawn'. Jane is a feminine form of John (which kinds makes sense) and both mean 'God is gracious', and Jake is either a form of Jack or Jacob, which means it could mean "holder of the heel" or "supplanter".

Jade and Rose are both obvious, and Dave got luckiest, I feel. His obviously from David, and means beloved... I wonder if Dirk knew that.
