Getting it started A great deal of my early teens was taken up by the exploits of a cute purple dragon who was... sometimes pretty much The Playstations answer to Sonic at the time, but with wings and firebreath. At the time I just thought it was fun, but later on I also have quite a healthy respect for the design work that went into the series. These guys knew what they were doing with character and level design, not to mention colour theory.

Goof Troop.

Dear GOD, Goof Troop. It was a pretty memorable part of my childhood. Take Goofy, his son Max and put them on wacky adventures? How cool was that?

Also, the game was Boopin'.

Ahem. You shouldn't really invite me to that thread. I can go on ranting for hours.

Prince of Persia, Doom 2, Duke, Descent, Tyrian, Magic Carpet 2 (of all things, this one can't get a re-release!), Gummi Bears, Darkwing Duck (Germans Love David Hasselhoff!), Rescue Rangers, Santa-Barbara opening (seriously, every single grandma used to watch it) and laughing at sitcoms despite not understanding anything. Yeah.

I also used to listen to Alice in Wonderland on vinyl. Now that's hardcore.

I'm not saying I can't play Doom anymore... it's just not fun. Doom didn't age - I did. =(

Also, I think I played Doom on keyboard for a year or so until I realized it was much more badass with a mouse. Talk about wasted time.

I would if I could find the discs... they're in this room somewhere shifted about during one of a great many cleanups and like most of my PS games, did not resurface. Still have the third game though... and those really lacklustre alternate universe PS2 games from later on wherethey were cashing in on Elijah Wood and LotR...

Funny you should menion Hasslehoff, I happen to have a weakness for, um... Knightrider, even though I laugh at some of it now and the science works about as well as it could in the eighties, I still like it (then again I think most people watched it for the talking car.) The attemped remake was kind of a dud, though.

LEMMINGS. I spent hours on end playing Lemmings. My friends and I played it together, we had a list of the codes to skip to all the different levels (compiled over weeks, the hard way, by beating all the levels and copying the codes down) and we'd have little contests to see who could do a level faster, or without losing as many Lemmings. I also spent a lot of time playing it on my own, of course. It's not like I was very social.
