Besides, as we saw from my failed Wikipedia vandalism, the characters will see what the GMs want them to see, regardless of what we've deleted.

So I think apologies are the way to go from here.

Agreed. Sorry to everyone who we accidentally left out of the loop by getting carried away in the chatroom.

It's a double edged sword really, as our ability to converse extremely quickly there HAS led to some interetsing ideas (and erm... arguements) but this shouldn't come at the risk of isolating others.

Oh... Not saying YOU are fake. We can't prove it. ;)

Just that someone joins the room: "Oh, hey I'm a lurker! Should I make an account in the forums?" in the same manner you did and it's a free pass into the team. No secret there. Then you can just sit in the chatroom safely forever.

Although, in fairness, that could apply to anyone. In fact, if I were a spy (which I might or might not be), I'd probably start by establishing a good reputation on the forum and derailing efforts and THEN joining the chatroom. I can also definitively testify I am a human being, incidentally. At least my account is actually active and infrequently attempts to help!

Even your anti-Cabal activities don't prove anything. You should check out my paranoid rant in the Super Wacky Fun Time thread.

Oh, I love Happy Wacky Fun Time. I think we should spend billions of pounds on an unbreakable version of the Enigma machine before resurrecting Alan Turing to help us crack it when we forget the key...

I told you. Viginer cipher is enough, as long as the key is long enough and is changed frequently. Blowfish is fine, too. The real problem is the spies. They are everywhere. We can't keep them out if we accept new members.

No, I don't think mass genocide is ever the answer. Also, seeing as how various things in life work when they shouldn't, you could just assign The Wild West Pyro for spy-checking. It seems apropos.
Apparently, slightly less weird than most of you.

I think the idea that we need to do things in a place the Cabal doesn't know about is misguided. Remember, we know what they do, too, thanks to various reveals of their chats. This is chess, not poker.

Why The Wild West Pyro?
Also ,
We know what they do too

I agree. Poor Cabal
This is ultimately the GMs' game, we can't block them out of discussion.
Is this the fourth time I've got in trouble for unrecognisable sarcasm? :D

Pyros are the handiest class in Team Fortress 2 for spychecking, because cloaked spies can be seen when they're on fire.

That is said on the assumption that the archived chats we've seen weren't deliberately staged and set so we could find them, in order to manipulate us.
Which is a very likely possibility, considering many of them have seemingly arbitrary start and end points for chat archives, contain conversations that seem much better held face-to-face between characters who could have had a conversation face-to-face at the time, and (until the Cat's intrusion made them decide on "better security") had oddly specific archive titles.

Besides, it's a huge fallacy to suggest that just because we have a potential advantage, we should amortize that by giving an even greater advantage to our enemies (yes, greater, because access to our chatroom means access to all the log, not just random selections).

At this point, it will be impossible to keep the Cabal or spies out; still, as I pointed out in another thread, the unlogged private chat capability is an excellent tool for discussing secret plans one-on-one with trusted metaguards.

So, um, I'm really sorry about my behavior in the chatroom this evening. I definitely crossed a few lines there that I really shouldn't have.

...is it just me, or does that sound a lot more insincere that it should? >_<

But seriously, I don't really know what to say. At this point, joking about it or making excuses would probably be just as inconsiderate as how I was acting earlier. Will just an apology work?
So, apparently I'm the sanest madman this side of the international date line. Seems legit.

Oh, and bad news everyone:
SCIENCE has discovered that banning suspicious users doesn't really get them banned. It makes them invisible so that WE can't see they're on, and they can't post, but they can read EVERYTHING in the chatlog.

So... time to think up plan B for when the Cabal or trolls come calling?
(right now someone's spamming the chatroom with pony songs. This seems like as good a way as any to prevent enemies from seeing what we don't want them to see.)

Banning people makes them come back as invisible badass ninjas.

I think Scorpion was banned IRL. :D
Also, chill. I thought we have agreed to let the Cabal in by now.

More worried about trolls than the Cabal.
though I think Girl Talk should be an effective counter-trolling mechanism, provided the trolls aren't girls.

We could always try Bonding with Morgana by inviting her over :P

It DOES appear to be an unusually effective counter troll measure...

Even if it is, it's not a big deal who's in the chat unless they start trolling.

Agreed, but Pixel and a few others may have a second thought on it (well, or so I think they do)
