Despite a couple of false alarms, I've never found love, never dated-- though I'd kind of like to get a move on, since I'd always kind of expected to be married by five-years-from-now.

And as for jobs-- for the past year or two I've had my dream job, in one form or another, and managed to get it just by doing what I'm passionate about, as hard as I can.
But it's not a "real" job; it's a summer job, or a part-time job, and I'm going to NEED to think about "real" jobs soon.
And... well, lately I've been wondering if I should forget about doing what I'm passionate about in favour of something soulless that I'm actually good at and can actually make a living with.
I mean, it's a shame to throw away good dreams, but isn't it more important to be able to support that hypothetical five-years-from-now family?
And I'm a little anxious about the idea of wasting all the work that I've been doing for the past while to switch to a totally different program, but that's still better than wasting four or five YEARS on something that ultimately won't do anything for me.

If you have to, do the soulless job, but have a variation of your dream job as a hobby. However, if you can find a full-time version of your dream job, then go for it.
Apparently, slightly less weird than most of you.

Yeah welcome to what my life pretty much is at this point, so I get how you both feel. Though I think I made some serious errors with my life choices a little earlier down the line... Oh well. Nothing I can do about it now except keep going and keep trying for the Big Goal, whatever that may be (truth be told I'm not sure right now.)
They sometimes say, "the place where I am right now was circled on a map for me"... Unfortunately, I kind of suck at orienteering.
