Luna sounded kinda...masculine.
idk, I'm only in the first 2 minutes, and I'm already nitpicking.

Nitpickers are what make the world go round!

And there had BETTER be more Luna this season, or I am gonna kirk.

Well I hear good things about the potential for Luna's reappearance (honestly I think the only reason we've seen ass much of her as we have is that the periphery demographic wants her... All I can think is they must actually be making some money off of us.)

Still, I can't believe they've ignored her as much as they have. She was, like, the secondary focus of the Pilot, they had no reason to forget she existed until Halloween of next year.

Sure they did. She was the main focus as a villain, and she was un-villained by that same episode. They probably didn't want to pull an "Oh, wait, didn't take, Luna's evil again," because that would be stupid, and they couldn't have realized how much she'd be an Ensemble Darkhorse (Darkpony?) until after the episode had aired.

And honestly, this kinda thing happens with characters all the TIME in kids series, they show up for an episode, make friends with the characters, and then inexplicably are gone. it's hardly unusual. I honesrtly think the periphery liking her is the ONLY reason she came back.

Also she's the princess of the NIGHT, and most ponyville stories generally take place during the day. So... I'unno...

Still. I'm not saying make her a villain again, that's stupid, but SOME sort of screentime. I and other Luna-fans have been crying out for blood for two years. Excluding Nightmare Moon scenes, she's shown up in six episodes, from two full seasons and the premier of the third. And barely as a character in and of herself. In that, she features in two - Nightmare Night and the Crystal Empire pt 1. Every other time she has cameo or one or two lines. Even in CEpt1, she only has a couple lines and a really imposing presence. *sigh*

I just... I like Luna, okay?

I can understand that. Luna was a great pony in Season 2, and I hope that she will return again.

I'm honestly am hoping that Discord returns. He was such a great villain and is my favorite villain in the series.

Oh, and I have a new Worst Pony: King Sombra.

Diamond Tiara was as a jerk, but at least she had a backstory and is actually kinda scary at times. Sombra had no personality. At all.

Well, the tropes page did bring up the fact that he was excellent at planning ahead. He would've won if Twilight didn't have Spike with her.

He had some, but not a lot. I mean, this was a hyped up episode with a hyped up villain, and yet we never really got a major backstory with him. He was just always evil, and it seemed that there was never a time when he wasn't. He had no real communication with the characters, and never really spoke, just growled like a lion. True, he was good at planning ahead, but still- When you lose to a baby dragon, that might indicate a problem.

I think what they were going for was the sort of myserious 'You never clearly know or encoutner the bad guy and so can't conceptualise him as anything more than an idea, and IDEAS are scarier than physical forms', buuut because they're required to be quitee literal (the target audience might not appreciate that Nothing is Scarier at their age) it fell sort of flat.

They were absorbed in the setting of the crystal empire (which is to the guys paying their wages, the important bit, because THAT'S where the merchandise is going to come from) and didn't have TIME to focus on creating a compelling bad guy.

Episode Review: Too Many Pinkie Pies

>>Interesting concept: What would happen if there were more Pinkie Pies?
>>Great Character Development on Pinkie
>>Had some great moments, including the quiet fun scene and the G3 face scene
>>Rainbow Dash wasn't as big of a jerk as in last episode
>>The idea of watching Paint Dry cracked me up
>>Twilight seemed... out of place in this episode
>>Still gorgeous looking animation, not as good as CE, but still very good
>>Derpy was in episode
>>FUNFUNFUNFUNFUNFUNFUNFUNFUNFUNFUNFUNFUNFUNFUNFUNFUNFUN
>>Lively episode, shifted well with the ending of CE

All in all, this episode gets a nine out of ten.

Though, I have to say - Sweetie Belle's song being so bloody terrible? I'm not cool with that. Isn't singing supposed to be her special talent? Even if the CMC are a tad too blind to see it, they were pretty obvious when they were preparing for that talent show...

In her defence it is jsut about impossible to sing Ninety Nine Bottles of beer and sound in any way GOOD. Especially if you're being enthusiastic about it.

I can sing it pretty good, since I'm in a chamber choir level of singing. This is not the point of this thread, though.
