You've noticed that I'm on the voice chat now... but it's not fun if you only talk about Minecraft.
...
SO I GUESS I'LL DOWNLOAD IT TOO THEN :D
EDIT: probably not now, but this weekend... maybe?

Ok... Since today I had nothing to do and was getting mighty bored... I decided to go exploring...

Good news is... I found an ocean!
Bad news is, I'm stranded in the middle of the ocean!

As for my last known location, I logged out when I was at around X 1000, Z 32000. I do have plenty of food, tools, armor and all that, and will keep sailing South (Z+) until I somehow get to the other shore. I probably won't get back to my water temple unless I die, which was a funny idea I had while holding W for an extended period of time while doing nothing else...

I'll make a hardcore expedition, once I reach the other shore, I'll make a new base and play from there. But I'll not make a bed. So, if/when I do die I'll spawn back at the main area where everyone is.

Actually, I met a squid.

Turns out that, if you hit one going at high speeds in the boat. The boat crashes. Since I was over deep ocean, diving to the bottom to set a crafting table to make a boat and then go up was technically possible, but while I did manage to craft the boat, I had lagged for a spike and didn't make it up in time, drowning and respawning 36000 blocks from my watery grave.

...Well, you get points for effort, anyway.

Warning: Santa has invaded the server.

Santa Claus wrote:Write your letter and send it to me.

My official helper is: Scarab

You can write your letter at the big fireplace. Don't make a wish that he can't grant.

END POST.

Oh, and I forgot to say that you can't break any block to invade Santa's house, nor to get out of it. Sorry for double-posting.

Dude. :ugeek:

I'm annoying you until you ban me or creative mode me. I asked Santa for it. It's in the book. (The previous one burned mysteriously... How do that stuff even happen? )

Pixel has found Santa.

For his determination he'll be given Creative mode... If Dryu let him, that is.

So the hunt is over.

X:-667

Z:-274

Damn Literal Genie Vic.
"Your game mode has been updated"
Pixel: Wheeee!
"Your game mode has been updated"
Pixel: Well, I did ask to be set to creative, and forgot to add that you couldn't set me back to survival afterwards. ¬¬

Anyway, being Creative Mode while everyone else walks on earth and has limited resources would be fun, but utterly broken. I'd just start building automated farms for everything so that everyone could use them.

Something that would make me very very happy and not as broken... Is it possible to set the keepInventory game rule by person? xD
/gamerule keepInventory true Pixelmage
According to the wiki, the /gamerule does not have a by player thing though, so I wouldn't know... No longer losing my shiny diamond stuff ever again would be awesomer than having demigod level powers. :geek:

EDIT: So much for that idea. The keepInventory game rule is global only. So toggling it to true means no one loses their shiny stuff anymore. Maybe that's not such a bad idea though. ;)

I was asked to check this out, and so I did.
I've started another server on the same address - just increase the port number by 1.

I probably won't be running this one all the time, because that's just egregious. But every now and then is fine, if you like the map.

I tried out the multiplayer. And I didn't enjoy it at all.

For starters (and this might be my game, I dunno), I couldn't actually tell what the pictures of the characters were until I was almost close enough to select them, making selecting a character annoying. But, I suspect that might just be my set-up, so eh.

First thought: The maps are really small. I was having extreme difficulty finding a place where I could stand still, and take a breather out of the constant "Oh god oh god oh god" state I was in because of being at about 4 health most of the time. This might not be so egregious, except that knock back and unexpected ends to the levels meant that more of us died to falling out of the world than to each other. Secondly, there is quite a bit of slant toward ranged combat, as I found that trying to get into melee whilst being shot at very, very hard due to my charges being stopped by the flinch damage animation. This might not be so bad, if there were actually decent melee weapons. Of the two I picked, I had for melee weapons a Blaze Rod and Splash Potions of Decay (which I couldn't actually throw without hitting myself, and given that they only lasted for 5 seconds each, using them was painful and hard). And since I can't actually aim at a decent target, this made actually trying to hurt someone really hard (I don't think I managed to kill anyone).

Then, the maker of this map decided to give everyone the maximum jump boost possible, permanently. Which wouldn't be so bad, if that jump boost wasn't high enough to give you a half-heart flinch animation, which screws with any attempt at running, or even landing smoothly that you can do unless you land 1-2 blocks higher than you jumped. Which is just another flinch animation that keeps triggering the "oh god I'm being attacked" bits of my brain.

Basically, there isn't any strategy to this thing other than the idea of "shoot/smack everyone else to death as fast as you can". I'm a bit biased here, but I'd like to have more strategy and thinking in my PvP than the mindless action that this seems to cause. Also, they give you potions of invisibility, which given that you can't take off your armor to be actually invisible, are useless.

I think you all have a fairly clear idea of what I think of this by this point. :?

My actual complaint is about the melee weapons - this may be due to frantic nature of the combat and stuff, but I wasn't even sure if I hurt anyone in melee. :? The rest (no safe spots, prevalence of the ranged weapons, small maps, etc) are by design, so I don't see any reasons to complain.

Not to mention that making that entirely through the in-game logic is awesome. :gurt:
