I'm up for it. I think for fairness reasons, we should either start on a backup server where we all start fresh, or get TP'd to the wilderness with nothing by Dryu, then given a set time limit to prepare for the rush of doom. We could go with survival gameplay where beds are not allowed, or we could just keep going till we win. Depends on what people want to do.

In other news, I'm testing out my capacity for hosting a Tekkit server with Mimsy currently. So far, aside from some hiccups at the start, the server is running fine over LAN, and we were able to spend an evening playing. (Once again I refuse to look anything up, which is considerably more difficult in tekkit than in vanilla MC) Anyhow, seems like it is going fine, and if people are interested in me doing it, I can fiddle around and see about getting a couple of you to test how it holds up over the internet.

If this works out, i might have Mimsy host another server sometime where we can do games like this zombie thing, because it sounds awesome. I'm currently thinking about setting up a large scale Voltz match that works like this, except you are fighting other teams of people instead of zombies.

Since I'm in creative and have nothing, I vote for this. Setting up a weekend when we all could start at the same time would be better.

That would be nicer, but my Minecraft isn't official, so I dunno if it would work for me.

I volunteer to help. I love mapmaking, and I've tried it myself. I'm used to some redstone contraptions and I want to learn more.

Sounds pretty badass :)

Well, I'll message Dryu about this, and we'll see about getting a server set up. If he's having trouble perhaos there's some way to host it on another server, although it WOULD be nice to keep all of our buildings that we have so far, it'd add to the feel of the place (also more places to hide spawners)

Hey, I want to make a minecraft map so we can play in a server, but I have a few doubts:

Should I put mods in the making of the map?
[ ] Yes
[ ] No

What kind of map should I make?
[ ] Some FFA kind of battle map
[ ] Some kind of "Fort Battle" map (two groups try to destroy each other forts)
[ ] Some kind of "Tower Defense" map (one group tries to protect itself from another)
[ ] Other

I thought about making an adventure map, but I don't know how to make a multiplayer adventure map, and I kind of wanted to wait until the next version to make one (without mods). The mods I have in use ATM are: Dimensional Doors, Portal Gun Mod and LegendGear Mod, asides from Optifine, but I don't think it counts.

Skipping Vic's question for the moment... (I'm not very keen on mod-maps, most of the time)

Can anyone reach Dryu's server? I think it's down ever since last night, but maybe it's just on my end.

OK, current plan is to open my tekkit server to the rest of you guys tomorrow evening. Tech issues may cause delays, but we should be OK for that opening. Can I get a list of people who are interested in joining?

Depends on if I can get Tekkit working, and if I want to save my current set-up, and stuff like that.

As I stated in the chatbox, I now HAVE the fileserver I was going to use as a host system, however, we overlooked that fact that we have no working power cables that are not already in use, so I wasn't able to get things running tonight. Best I can do is give you a glimpse of what I have prepared to greet you:

Well, the world is pretty empty, seeing as that base doesn't even have a proper door. That is how little I go outside. There is a log cabin in some woods about 700 meters away, and I think Mimsy has a dirt hut or two in the square kilometer around the spawn, but really there isn't anything else outside of that one single mountain where I've been doing all my science. I'll give you guys the tour to familiarize you with some of the machinery, then I'll probably leave the base for a bit and join you all while we go find a place for another lab.

As always, it's likely that I'll go some 30 minutes in a single direction to get an area to settle in. Otherwise we'd be either competing for resources, or for space to build redstone powered stuffs, fueled by the power of ALCHEMY!

Also likely to be a good excuse to have a nether tunnel later on. XD

Don't go too far. I haven't gotten a facility for messing with railcraft up yet, so I can't make high speed trains or anything right now. It's no fun it you are so far away no one can visit you.

As to what the rest of us build, I'll leave that up to you guys. I'm just gonna run around and give you guys a hand.

Nope.

Go here: www.technicpack.net/tekkit download the launcher and run it. It's perfectly set up automatically for you.

Actually with the existence of those chests that multiply stuff, it's likely that we won't have to compete for resources as much as you think we will, guys :)

True.
But there's the matter of space though. Unless we all band together to make a single mega-fortress.

...

Which might not be a bad idea.

I was considering leaving my base to help with one if that's what you guys want to do. It was going to be one of my suggestions at the planning session.

How's about going with the traditional castle/keep idea? An entire civilisation can exist within the walls of one castle keep... You cam just keep building outwards (or up) when you need more space :D

The fileserver is now running, but the people who gave it to my dad neglected to reset the password to the default one, and also neglected to tell him what it was. We can call them tomorrow, but in the meantime we are attempting to see what we can do about recovering it. So far, one attempt has failed, and we are about to give it another try.

On my end, the server is now temporarily offline in preparation for a transfer.
