I was planning into making an Arena, so we can farm EXP.

Obsidian framed, diameter ~20 dome So that it is Creeper Proof. Redstone Lamps only, to light up only after someone steps in for the carnage. It'll be a death pit. Quite honestly. Want to make it as floating sphere or at slime layer?

I've also made large progress on a system of outposts across the world, hidden very carefully. If you discover one, you may use it in emergency situations and take some of the supplies lying around. However, if it isn't needed, please leave it there for my work. Each one is going to serve a purpose eventually.

I mine in straight parallel lines down at the diamond layer. Given how compulsory I am in that method... I'll probably breach any outpost you make at that layer within a distance of... Quite a few hundred blocs to every side? xD

On a side-note, do any of you wanna build a computer in Minecraft? I'm sure Sicon would find an use to it.

You want to build a redstone computer? In SURVIVAL? Do you have a sense of the sheer size of flat land you need to lay out the base circuit? It'll take a week just to clean up the land, and as much Redstone as I get, I can't supply a full computer worth of it anytime soon, unless someone can make use of my Mine system to make it faster.

You read my mind, except I was thinking of making the ground out of endstone. I believe that we could make it at slime layer so we can have a lot of goodies too, but building overground would be easier. As for the death pit, I was thinking of some lava between the ground and the walls, and a piston bridge, so we can take it off.

On a side-note, do any of you wanna build a computer in Minecraft? I'm sure Sicon would find an use to it.

Urgh, so it seems the only way you guys could possibly take up anymore of my time? Would be to start a friggin' minecraft server. When I logged off last night it was half past two and I had to be up at seven! On the plus side, the beginnings of a library are in progress.

That would sure be epic, but it would require too much time and will probably bring my PC to his knees. I think regular redstone mechanisms can be just as fun.

On that note. Avoid stacking TNT everyone. Making a 3x3x3 cube for the heck of it should be fine, but huge TNT projects, as in blowing up islands, or opening a crater to bedrock are known to crash even the official servers... So I advise moderation.

But in all seriousness, guys. To make epic stuff, we must eliminate the lack of resources as much as possible. Mob farm would get us arrows, gunpowder and strings (convertable into wool). If there are redstone specialists among us, we could make automated cacti farms for dyes, and automate everything that's automatable. I have never worked with redstone before, and while I can figure it out (hey, digital electronics were my favorite subject), it would take a lot of time, which I don't have now.

Animal farms are basically buildings with animals you feed sometimes if you pass by. I think we need at least 100 sheep of all colors to make giant pixel-art.

I like when the harmony of automation meets pants-shitting madness.

UPD: we need to make a mob farm with a retractable bottom, so that it can be transformed into an xp farm with a flip of a switch. But for that we may modify an existing farm, which we are yet to build. I think if there's anyone with a lot of time on his hands, that anyone could flatten the ground somewhere in the woods (and get a lot of dirt in the process).

I hate myself for having no qualms about using dirt as a building material. =/

Update from the Mimsy one! I have now finished the Hourai Cave's construction, and, using it as my base, have hooked it up to two different labyrinths and a giant tunnel leading halfway across the world to the site of my next project: a frozen lake, over which now hangs a gigantic mass of rock that I will soon turn into a floating mountain, Mt. Hourai! On top of this mountain, I plan to make a giant tree covered in jewels of all sorts, the great Tree of Hourai. As such, I'm going to need all sorts of supplies. Lapis, Gold - actually, just about any sort of jewel, really - and a ridiculous amount of cobblestone, smooth stone, and dirt. As such, if you'd be willing to donate any of these, just leave them in the chest in the Hourai cave. If you don't know where that is, just give them to me or Sicon directly.

Soon, I'll hopefully have my giant flying mountain. Then, I plan to make a redstone-powered sky railway between it and Yggdrasil, mostly for teh lulz. So, yeah, head over to Mount Hourai if you want to help, or if you need to retrieve a jewel-encrusted treebranch so you can fulfill the impossible request of a princess from the moon and claim her hand in marriage.

...if you figure redstone out without a wiki, I'll call you out on cheating, because you're totally using it. Also, some recipes (or what's the word here?) can only be found on the wiki (or by reverse-engineering the executable).

Plus some reference tables for water and lava flow mechanics, like how far they go so that you can optimize farming traps and blueprints for complex structures. Making a sphere is possible assuming you know enough geometry to work out the print yourself or make it by exploiting ms paint. But a blueprint is still necessary.

I'm not sure what I could put on it, but I'll need a lot of space, and since I'm not used to survival machine-building, any help would be good. On a side note, post the obsidian mining machine in the forums or something. Really, you will become a legend.

Honestly, I don't think a mob farmer needs to be redstone driven or complicated, I saw one created just using cobblestone and water on one server - the mobs spawned in an area above water, fell through the gaps into a pool below and drowned. We can probably do something a bit like that.

I actually mean xp farm, where the monsters are dropped to half a heart, and are then killed by a player to get xp. My opness somewhat defeats the purpose, as I can grant the xp, but with elephants.

...In other news, Pixelmage had to come and rescue me from the Nether last night.

I spent an hour trying to get to the fortress (because you know going to the Nether and remaining there alone when the only available protection is a house made of SNOW is SUCH a great idea) , and then when I finally succeeded I ended up holled up in a wall of netherack to stop the blazes outside from burning me to death, occasionally emerging to flail my sword around in my attempts to obtain blaze rods. And then I bitched at Mimsy about it.

And um, then I got lost in the fortress? So Pixel had to go get Obsidian in order to make a portal to get me out. And then he came all the way there to find me, amidst the ghast fire and the withers and the deadly, burning death, and then we portalled out and had to walk miles all the way back to the village.

...It was all very heroic of him, is what I'm sayin'. <3 Pixel
