lol sounds like we're hiring a bunch of random construction workers, honestly.

I'll just leave the idea I had in the chatroom that was well-received: ask the GMs for another forum. Considering that this one will be self-sustained by ads, making another forum (with a similar throughput, too) will be just a matter of making another instance of phpBB. Or something like that. It may even use the same server.

Why even bother, do you ask?

OCD, of course! This forum will be safely frozen in carbonite, and will become a part of history receiving occasional curious visitors, while we hang out on the fresh one.

Agreed, though it's possible to make that here as well. Safely freeze everything here in carbonite and move to a "Archive!TWWF-Canon" section. Create all new sections completely wiped clean. No need to create another instance of phpBB and the feeling of continuity is right at our fingertips.

After seeing Joe's recent video I feel very good about making a fan-fic-forum. Simply because there was so much left unanswered.

I don't know what I will call it though. And I will bring the Watchers.

I'd be perfectly happy to stay on this forum. Slightly modified, with an archive of the ARG-centric subforums... seems perfect to me.

Mr. A syndrome. Fortunately it is only Mild Condition: Which means the affected types in caps more.

Moderate is dressing in suits.

Severe is tattooing a life size tattoo of your suit on your body that looks very much like a suit so you can walk around naked.

Beyond Severe is slicing off the top of your head.

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.............. [rerail]

Personally I'd like to see the entire forum locked and we move elsewhere. (kinda like a time capsule?) at least that's what was going on in my head. :?

That can be done here though.
Create a new section under the archives header, move everything locked underneath it. There, one single link with all the archive neatly sorted, and the top level of the board completely clean for whatever new content we do bring to table.

Sure, the OffTopic and General Discussions could use some clean up. Some of the topics there are dead enough to be removing, but since deleting them seems like a waste, locking and moving then into the archive would resolve that issue.

There's also what Dryu said about spinning a new instance of phpBB on the same server and locking this down completely, though that's a bit more complicated to work out from the technical side. Especially considering we look forward to keeping topics like the Carol and the RPs. Moving to a new forum would make that particularly labor intensive.

Either for Sophie making a phpBB server image with the content filtered to contain only the relevant stuff we'd keep, and that has issues of transferring the username database. I don't think it would be very simple to have everyone suddenly registered in a new domain out of nowhere and without their expressed consent for it.

Or for us doing the copy paste manually for every single thread we'd like to keep, which would lose some of the access rights unless we also coordinated each person moving his own post, and that has the problem that someone might decide not to move and all the issues that entails.

I'm probably over-thinking this though... So I'll shut up now. :P
